Gas lawnmowers, leaf blowers, trimmers, generators, etc.. but that seems like small potatoes compared to banning the way people heat their homes. XavierOnassis
12 hours ago, Imgreatagain said: Didn’t CA just ban gas generators? why is everyone hating on gas? Gas generators use GASOLINE, a liquid. Natural GAS is, well a gas. If the building uses electric heat, it will not require retrofitting when renewable ways of generating electricity is available. Retrofitting will not be required. This is called "planning for a sustainable future". And Califiornia did not ban the use of gasoiline generators, but merely the sale of new ones. Existing units can still be used.

Electric is pretty much the only alternative option, and it's twice the cost per BTU.

Perhaps in the future it will be more efficient to use electric to heat buildings/homes.

Get rid of incandescent bulbs in favor of CFLs, which sucked and created more problems than they solved. Within 10 years, LEDs made them obsolete and it took zero mandates for people to voluntarily switch to a superior product.

Natural gas is an assortment of gaseous hydrocarbons. When it burns, the carbon cannot turn into water vapor. Water vapor is H20. There is no carbon in water vapor or any form of water. The carbon can become Carbon dioxide or Carbon dioxide. When they say is it 99% efficient, that means that 1% or less of the gas is released unburned into the atmosphere. If a gas furnace is 99% efficient it means that it takes less gas to produce the same amount of heat than a lower efficiency furnace. Natural gas burns 30-50% cleaner than oil and coal already, and the higher efficiency brings the total output down.
XavierOnassis
When gas is burned, CO2 is produced. That is what needs to be avoided. New buildings should be built so that electricity can be used, because electricity can be generated without releasing C02 into the atmosphere. The technology exists to do this now. Future technology will make it even more efficient. You continue to revel in your stupidity. Aggressive ignorance, deliberate stupidity.
