If i was in control, I would demand that every Cabinet dept cut their budget by 2% every year for the next five years. Next, I would decrease the amounts given by way of the EITC. Lastly, I would lower/alter the capital gains tax structure.

Shit-can Baseline Budgeting.

Let them Justify, and Beg, Every Year, for funding.

... after strippin' every Department out that is redundant to State Government.

Well, I will see reality and deal with it. You can keep having a fantasy about what should be.

All you are doing is EXPANDING THE INEQUALITY INCOME GAP.

Yes, progressive tax brackets are the only thing that makes sense re income tax.

But at least we don't have one of the idiot rightwingers claiming everybody paying the exact same

percentage is "fair".

This is the most unrealistic and idiotic thread that I've seen in some time.

Tax cuts for the wealthy are what has created the income inequality gap so Impartial Observer is suggesting MORE of the same thing that has failed the nation in the first place.  It is like giving cyanide to cure arsenic poisoning.

$5K - everyone should be able to afford that.  If not, then they can work off their debt to the nation by being tackling dummies for Marine recruits.

A couple of them could help out around my place. I'm have trouble keeping up with work around the homestead. I've been paying in long enough that a few of those who have been getting paid could do a little of the work for a change....while I'm at work.

But I know...nobody is going to do a fucking thing to help me out. Hell after I worked my whole life paying off student loans and paying for child care as a single parent now they want to give out free college and free child care. Fuck them.

A Fair Tax That Actually Is!

It's as Simple as This:

Population of the United States between the ages of 18 and 65 (Adults of Working Age)?

~ 200,000,000. (Two-Hundred-Million AWA )

Annual Budget of the United States?

~ $1,000,000,000,000. (One-Trillion Dollars)

$1,000,000,000,000/200,000,000 AWA = $10,000/2 AWA or $5,000/AWA.

Now THAT sounds Fair!

Everybody:
- Uses.
- Pays.
- Has skin in the game.

Be interesting to see how fast those Democrat National Socialists shrink the Government when it starts coming out of their own pocket.

Some respectful points put forward for your consideration:

1. This sounds a lot like a poll tax. It isn't apportioned and isn't Constitutional. It's a direct tax on persons.

2. Some of those "Adults of Working Age" are mothers and housewives, and your idea would force them to stop raising their children and start raising their poll tax. Your idea is quite literally a banker-inspired, feminist attack on motherhood something Gloria Fucking Steinem would undoubtedly applaud.

3. The term "skin in the game" is actually a gay term that republicans adopted for fairly obvious reasons (good bit of boy fucking in the party);

4. Proposing a tax that treats a McDonald's employee and Bill Gates exactly the same is a flamingly homosexual thing to do - suggestive that you are a republican boy fucker. :)

I wonder what progs think of guys like LeBron James and Stephan Curry making 30+ million per year.  Those two would only get 9 million if the Cortez plan of 70% taxation is realized.  Their 30 million would be taxed for 21 million.

No one is going to raise the income tax to 70%.

You guys still do not understand how income tax brackets work, anyway.\

If the highest bracket were 70%, the total tax due would be far less than 70%

As for charging everyone the same $5000 a year, forget it.  It is summarily unfair to the lowest paid.

Current US labor force is 161,537,000 (as of August 2021).

Multiply this by 5,000 and one gets 807,685,000,000

Current federal budget is 3.8 Trillion (https://www.cbo.gov/topics/budget.... for the revenues number)

While I fully support cutting spending, I think that the politicians are too cowardly to make cuts this deep. Their constituents would be none too happy and their re-elections odds would plummet. Like it or not, they care VASTLY more about re-election and optics than doing the right thing.

the budget is much higher than 3.8 trillion. I think that is the revenue number.

Most recent budgets were around 4.5 trillion.

Now we have one party proposing single bills that account for nearly 100% of the incoming revenue, NOT INCLUDING THE BUDGET!

This is literally insane.

The lowest paid needs to work a little harder/faster and or better in order to pull their own weight.

Taxes should be based on what a person owes for their share of the shit. We should NOT even have to tell the government what we earn.

And yes I know how income tax brackets work.

If everyone were billed their actual share then maybe they would start to think a little more about how they vote. As it is we have a majority voting to be really generous with somebody else's money. No more percentage of income bullshit. Send out tax bills for a straight dollar value. Everybody pays the same just like going to the grocery store or a car lot.

What Government Services or funded products do wealthy people use more than poor people?... Liberal faggot.

As for Poll Tax, you are wrong on that account as well.

But this covers the issue nicely...

The Ward-of-the-State Program

The Ward-of-the-State Program

This program would amend all Federal/State/Local Contracts whereby Entitlement Welfare Recipients voluntarily accept Ward-of-the-State status, as a Contractual obligation and condition of participation in the program, and forgo voting privileges while so classified.

Once they exit the Program? Voting Status and privileges are restored.

That alone will free more slaves than Abraham Lincoln.
