White House warns US 'not adequately prepared' to handle future pandemics without new strategy

The White House warned Friday that the United States is "not adequately prepared" to handle future pandemics and other "high consequence biological threats," and rolled out a strategy that would "fundamentally transform" the nation's ability to prevent, detect and rapidly respond to pandemics and threats.

In a report released Friday by the White House Office of Science and Technology and the National Security Council, officials warned that the U.S., currently, is "not adequately prepared" to handle future pandemics, warning that "serious" biological threats are expected to occur "at an increasing frequency."

President Biden's top science advisor and White House Office of Science & Technology Policy (OSTP) Director Dr. Eric Lander warned Friday that another pandemic could "occur soon," possibly within the next decade, and would "likely be substantially different than COVID-19."

Mu Covid Variant: Los Angeles Officials Say First Cases Of New Strain Have Arrived

Speaking of Mu Fauci said, “This variant has a constellation of mutations that suggests that it would evade certain antibodies, not only monoclonal antibodies, but vaccine- and convalescent serum-induced antibodies…But there isn’t a lot of clinical data to suggest that. It is mostly laboratory in-vitro data.”

Mu was first detected in Colombia in January of this year. It has since been reported in 39 countries. According to the Washington Post, 2,000 Mu cases have been identified in the United States, including in California, Florida, Texas and New York. The California Department of Public Health told the Post on Thursday that 348 Mu cases had been identified so far.

That would now make two variants Biden has failed to keep out of the country. I wonder if he regrets overselling his pandemic handling skills on the campaign trail last year.

I wonder if he still remembers boasting.

Another new variant not on the L.A. list, which has not been seen in the county — or the country, for that matter — is C.1.2. The variant, which was first identified in South Africa in July. According to the L.A. Times C.1.2 has “made its way from Africa to Asia, Oceania and Europe. Scientists have spotted it in Botswana, Mauritius, China, New Zealand, Portugal, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.” It has worrisome mutations but, the strain is so new, it is not yet known if they indeed post a greater threat than those of other variants.

There are more than two... there are around a half a dozen identified I believe, maybe more.

These are all variants of the current virus. It's not a "new" pandemic.

I guess, in the face of another Biden failure, that’s about all one COULD say.

It's still a variant of the same virus.

that we can't do anything about...

as trumps red states DEMAND to go maskless and to get vaccinated

If masks are a silver bullet, Biden could sign an EO mandating nationwide use of masks. Failure to comply is punishable by jail and fines.

But he doesn’t.

Big deal. Just adjust your Ivermectin dosage. If one pill a day works for Covid, two or three a day gotta work on those new variants.

He would if he could, but he doesn't have that authority.
