House Democrats voted this week to kill longstanding measures that prevent federal funding of elective abortions, and they did so with complete unanimity.

From 1976 to 2020, regardless of partisan control of Congress, every appropriations bill funding Medicaid included the Hyde amendment, which prohibits federal funding of abortions for enrollees except in rare circumstances. From 1973 to 2020, the Helms amendment — a similar prohibition on direct taxpayer funding of abortions in international-aid programs — was attached to every appropriations bill funding the State Department.

But this week, not a single House Democrat voted against either appropriations bill on the grounds that the legislation would force American taxpayers to fund abortions at home and abroad.

A report published in 2020 estimated that the Hyde amendment had spared the lives of more than 2,400,000 human beings since 1976.

The Senate Republicans certainly will block the passage of any appropriations bill lacking the Hyde amendment, but the troubling news is that the action in the House this week proves that Democrats are deadly serious about enacting a policy of unlimited taxpayer funding of abortion, and they are dangerously close to having the votes to make that policy the law of the land.

Democrats could enact their plans to fund abortion on demand if they hold the House and pick up two or three seats in the Senate in 2022. The Democrats could have the votes to kill the filibuster, and the Senate minority would lose power to block any legislation.

Nope. 1st amendment. You can’t force other citizens to pay for something they are religiously morally opposed to.

Bitches and HOs in the Hood go around and FK a bunch of OGs and than called them up later and tell they are with child and need $$$ for a AB.

AB spreads AIDS / STDs...because it encourages sexual promiscuity !

No. There’s nothing on the constitution about providing for abortion. There is for defense as perverted as the Iraq war was.

Our government was instituted to protect religious liberty and not paying for someone’s abortion doesn’t cause them any harm as they should be paying for it themselves.

Read the Constitution.

National Defense - is in there.

Elective Murder of Unborn Citizens - is not.

How about DUI?

Then let them suffer the consequences of their own actions. Maybe then learning can take place.

Fascist moving on from terminating the unborn to old people and everyone in between.

America was founded on the economic principles of the “free enterprise” system. An individual was free to operate his business under the law without government intervention and regulation. This economic system is being replaced by public (government) – private partnerships. >>>>>>>>>>>This system is called fascism.<<<<<<<<<<< The Constitution Party is opposed to public-private partnerships and is for a return to the true “free enterprise” system that once made our nation great and economically prosperous.

Makes no sense. This is a health care issue. Not a 'Free Enterprise' issue. Now where's that wallet of yours?

If they can afford it. I would rather fund one procedure than support someone for 18 years. And that is just for starters. Mother, daycare, more kids, etc. People in favor of that tax burden should sign up for it. Not me.
