Meaningless and of zero consequence.

I'm not so sure

There is a question whether these clubs have purposely excluded persons of color.

It may or may not be true; I think it remains to be seen

I don't think this endangers White House with his constituents

Rhode Island was the in place to be for the East Coast Elite.  Every Robber Baron who was anyone had a "cottage" in Rhode Island.  The elite originally excluded the Irish, the Italians, and Catholics in General. Newport was Snob Central for WASPs from the 1880's to the 1980's at least.  Whitehouse belonged to a club that basically excluded people who  could not pay the dues.

I visited several of the "cottages" in Newport. Truly Wretched Excess. Probably too excessively wretched for even Lord Mountbatten Himself.  A couple of the  curators were unbelievably posh, caricatures  of Master Thespian doing poshness.

I recall that they eventually admitted Condaleeza Rice to the Augusta Country Club as an official token. But Augusta is an element of the PGA. Whitehouse's Club was more into lolling about on the beach and puttering about with sailboats. Getting a nice tan and aquatic tomfoolery is not a thing that Rhode Island Black people are into enough to pay the dues.

Got to watch out for that racist shit.

Congressional Black Caucus

Membership

All past and present members of the caucus have been African-American. In 2006, while running for Congress in a Tennessee district which is 60% black, Steve Cohen, who is Jewish, pledged to apply for membership in order to represent his constituents. However, after his election, his application was refused.[34] Although the bylaws of the caucus do not make race a prerequisite for membership, former and current members of the caucus agreed that the group should remain "exclusively black". In response to the decision, Cohen referred to his campaign promise as "a social faux pas" because "It's their caucus and they do things their way. You don't force your way in. You need to be invited."[34]

Representative Lacy Clay, a Democrat National Socialist from Missouri and the son of Representative Bill Clay, a co-founder of the caucus, said:

"Mr. Cohen asked for admission, and he got his answer. He is white and the caucus is black. It is time to move on. We have racial policies to pursue and we are pursuing them, as Mr. Cohen has learned. It is an unwritten rule. It is understood."

Clay also issued the following statement:

Quite simply, Representative Cohen will have to accept what the rest of the country will have to accept—there has been an unofficial Congressional White Caucus for over 200 years, and now it is our turn to say who can join 'the club.' He does not, and cannot, meet the membership criteria unless he can change his skin color. Primarily, we are concerned with the needs and concerns of the black population, and we will not allow white America to infringe on those objectives.[35]

Yeah... got to watch out for that Racist Shit.

Ha!

I wonder about that there are wealthy black people after all.

There is an enclave of them on Martha's vineyard.

Black Lives Matter Rhode Island to protest Sheldon Whitehouse over exclusive club ties

Whitehouse should be judged based on how what he does in the Senate affects his constituents, not that he belongs to some posh club that Black people are not interested in joining anyway, in my opinion. Of course,  voters can choose any criteria that floats their boats.

The population of Rhode Island is precisely 2..7%  Black  and falling. The better jobs in the area are in Massachusetts.  So I hardly think that BLM is likely to have much effect on  Whitehouse's reelection. He defeated his last Republican opponent by 23% in 2018, which means he will not run again until 2024.,

Then I was thinking of the Augusta Masters Tournament,  I don't actually give a shit about golf. the point is that because Augusts, which was super exclusive, became a big fucking deal to golf fans, they seem to have felt a need to integrate it.

In the hallowed words of Steve Martin Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me!

Sheldon will regret trying to carry their water

What water?

How does it affect his job performance in Congress if his family belongs to a small club no Black person even wants to join?

BLM has far worse people to harass.

He says one thing and then supports a club that doesn’t have any blacks getting harassed is fucked up isn’t it
