You are referring to interstate 80. It may have been 40 in the past.

I do not understand gambling addiction either but can understand how you would like cards, table games, or sports betting. Slot machines... mindless and virtually no chance of coming out ahead. Some say, it is entertainment and not investment. Ok.. fair enough. Except that slot machines are really just glorified video games. Go to an arcade or buy a PS5/X-box... then you only lose money when you buy the hardware or games.

40 runs from Wilmington nc to barstow ca.

I read all your stories, and I understand you perfectly because my husband was an ardent fan of gambling. Over time, he lost more and more money but could not stop. The most exciting thing is that he is a real professional in gambling and perfectly plays poker and other games. Frequent losses drove him crazy, and everything changed when he changed Online Casino. He started playing on another site and soon recovered his financial position. So there is a way out of any situation.

😁I love poker and have learned to play this game since I was 5 years old. At the age of 15, I first started playing online poker in an online casino and it is just an unforgettable experience

The confusion is that I-80  (from Teaneck NJ to San Francisco CA runs along the same general route as US 40. This was known earlier as the Lincoln Highway.

US East/West highways had even numbers starting in the North (US Highway 2) and ending in the South (US (98)

E/W interstates also have even numbers but the numbering starts in the South (I-4) and ends in the North (I -90)

Tesla (Elon Musk), High tech, warehousing, and tourism (restaurants and retail) have taken up the slack. Downtown is suffering due to this shift. Empty buildings, mostly empty parking lots, and the area immediately surrounding downtown is largely rundown and decrepit. The lack of personal income tax, inventory tax, and corporate income tax keep folks moving in. Housing (while not as expensive as Seattle) has increased in price dramatically.. 125K in 2013 to 485K in 2020.

I know a lot of Californians who have moved there! Reno has a lot of BUMs who lost everything hanging out, begging for $$.

Nongaming revenues have eclipsed gaming revenues in the last 7 years in both Reno and Las Vegas. South Lake Tahoe which used to be a gambling mecca has pretty moved on from it.

I got bombed at Harvey's Casino, and dropped a wad of cash and had to sleep in my car during a snowstorm. That was before they blew up!

I have heard many stories like that. Today, south lake is a rich man's playground. the last real old school casino experience is in Elko, NV at Stockman's.

I live within a five minute drive of that location. Interesting tidbit. I am not a gambler. I have spent $7 on gambling since moving here in June 2010.
