Republican national security experts call on Trump to concede, begin transition

A group of leading GOP national security experts — including former homeland security secretary Tom Ridge — urged congressional Republicans on Monday to demand President Trump concede the election and immediately begin the transition to the incoming Biden administration.

“President Trump’s refusal to permit the presidential transition poses significant risks to our national security, at a time when the U.S. confronts a global pandemic and faces serious threats from global adversaries, terrorist groups, and other forces,” said a statement signed by more than 100 GOP luminaries....

...The statement added to complaints from a small but growing number of Republicans who describe Trump’s election response as a threat to the nation’s security.

“The Republican Party is not going to be saved by hiding in a spider hole,” said Trump’s former national security adviser, John Bolton, during an appearance Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” Bolton is not among those who signed the statement. “We need all of our leaders to come out and say, ‘the election is over.’ We’re not talking about an abstract right for Trump to use his legal remedies. We’ve passed that.”

I honestly don't understand the obsession with Trump conceding.   He's still going to be the president until January 20th.

The point is that a transition to the new president is needed and customary. Biden needs to be able to receive national security briefings.

I get that, but what difference does it really make?   The same infrastructure will be in place so its not like Biden is going to change anything of consequence.    If we are being honest, he's going to go off of recommendations from the career beaurocrats anyway.

Because Trump is doing this as a personal moneyraising project. He is begging for contributions to his campaign funds. If he concedes, he will have to stop begging. The money will go to pay off loans Trump has lent to his campaign. He can even charge his fund INTEREST.

Also, because Biden needs access to money set aside for the transition, and to records on Covid infection, use of the FBI to do background checks on people Biden needs to hire.

Trump is a conman. Part of this delay is a con job. What is remaining is his desire for REVENGE on Biden for taking away the presidency, which is his license to steal, plunder and rob. Trump is a vindictive asshole sine qua non.

That's it in a nutshell.

Bullshit. Supposition at best.

Fuck Biden he has not won the election so why start a transition process. You think🤣

Biden gives a shit about records on Covid infection? What records would those be and why would that be important? FBI background checks need to be done on Biden and his compromised family first, should have geen done before Biden was nominated.

Conman? How so? He hasn't taken more than a billion from the Chinese or millions from the Russians like Biden has. Revenge?

not likely since Biden has not won yet.

Not to change the subject, but it seems a little bit unnecessary to allocate 10 billion tax dollars for a transition.     What could possibly cost that much?
