Another thingy I learned in Meetings..

Alcholism ain't just the picking up a drink..

It's also a State Of Mind even Dry and Sober

We suffer from a "Defect" of Charecter..

Even Dry our thought paths are still Alcholic ..

Kinda like a State of Mind

My father said he was an alcoholic from the first drink he had at 15......and from birth.

His confusing point was that it was in his DNA.

As a result, I don't tend to label anyone an 'alcoholic' unless they realize the

relationship they have with alcohol has been with them from the very beginning.

The alcoholic would like a drink from the moment he gets up until he hits the hay.

Then there is the 'problem drinker' who doesn't have it in his DNA, but who

ends up doing something INCREDIBLY stupid or harmful when he drinks.

He starts a bar fight or says something incredibly rude to his

wife in front of a large group of people.

But .......he doesn't necessarily crave booze all the time

like the guy I call an alcoholic.

(I think the problem drinker just needs to switch to pot,

but the alcoholic would be drinking again as soon as

pot weakened his will.)

Which ever you are, I'm happy you have found something that works for you.

I have a friend who is addicted to '12 Step Programs'. :D

I think it provides her something that is not in her marriage or childhood(family).
