Another stupid Republican --- this one has a father who apparently bought his way thru medical school,

not just business college, like Trump and his kids required from their fathers.

Herd Immunity Study Rand Paul Cited Against Fauci Actually Refutes Senator's Claim

After clashing with Anthony Fauci on herd immunity at a senate hearing, Senator Rand Paul tried to back up his claims with a study that looked at the level required for this to be achieved in a community. However, the findings of the paper refuted Paul's claims and instead provided support to the infectious disease expert.

In the end, only herd immunity will prevent the spread of Covid 19.

Natural selection, a process since the beginning of time.

Try again, Joe.

Herd immunity is still in the news, and occasionally, it’s being conflated with something else seen in large groups: natural selection.

As time passes, this virus will encompass the 4 corners of the globe and the entire planets population becomes the herd.

Poor genetics and lousy health being a major contributing factor.

herd immunity is what happens when most of a population is immune to an infection, via immunity following infection and recovery, or immunity granted from vaccination.

Scout:  This says herd immunity comes from  "infection and recovery".

I think we need further definition of 'herd immunity'.  BRB

======================================

Is It possible to achieve herd immunity without a vaccine?
With no vaccine, there is only one possible way to achieve herd immunity – mass infection. While many could recover from the disease, allowing the virus to spread freely will come at the cost of many, many lives and even more unintended consequences.

=========================================

What is herd immunity?

Herd immunity occurs when enough people become immune to a disease to make its spread unlikely. As a result, the entire community is protected, even those who are not themselves immune. Herd immunity is usually achieved through vaccination, but it can also occur through natural infection.

====================================

Scout:  This one is a bit different.  It says "when enuf people", meaning, I think, that the last few people who have

NOT gotten infected will just benefit from odds created by so many having immunity via having had the infection.

It isn't true immunity without vaccinations being given to everyone who is not immune.
