The Golden Age of Hollywood

Sunset Blvd. is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The performances are all great, the script is nearly-perfect, and the cast is just too real...is there any other movie that is so well-written that it's almost non-fiction? Gloria Swanson as herself, Erich von Stroheim as himself, Cecil B. Demille literally as himself. What a great work of Hollywood art!

/gushing praise

What are your favourite films from the 1920s-1960s?

you left out the  great  William Holden

Yeah, he was spot-on. I'm just not sure if there's a real-life person he's depicting as the struggling screen writer...wouldn't be surprised. Maybe something from Billy Wilder's early days inspired the story, not just the lavish mansions of Sunset Boulevard.

I would guess that it comes from  real life  experience
