US coronavirus: Wednesday has been deadliest day in reported deaths

Recommended Posts

More than 200 deaths from Covid-19 were reported Wednesday in the United States -- a new high for fatalities recorded in a single day. The dramatic spike brought the number of novel coronavirus deaths since the outbreak reached the United States in late January to at least 921. Sunday morning -- less than four days ago -- the nationwide total was 326 deaths, according to CNN data derived from state reports.

More than 65,000 people in the United States have now had a positive test for the novel coronavirus.

The formula for success is testing people, finding each case, identifying people who have come into contact with those who have been infected, isolating those who are ill or who have been exposed and quarantining, she said.

Didn't Dr. Trump say:

Quote

“WE CANNOT LET THE CURE BE WORSE THAN THE PROBLEM ITSELF,” Mr. Trump tweeted in all capital letters shortly before midnight. “AT THE END OF THE 15 DAY PERIOD, WE WILL MAKE A DECISION AS TO WHICH WAY WE WANT TO GO!”

Quote

Trump foresees a rapid recovery and "packed churches all over our country" on Easter, he told Fox News on Tuesday.

Yet today said:

Quote

At the White House coronavirus task force news conference, President Donald Trump said: "The more aggressively we commit to social distancing ... the more lives we can save."

In week or so trump will deny ever saying churches all over the country will be packed on Easter Sunday.

The most disturbing statistic for me is the doubling of cases every three days. It paints a bleak picture of what is to come for the rest of the country.

Read an article yesterday....

67 days it took to get to 100,000 confirmed cases

11 days to 200,000

4 days to 300,000

We are as unprepared as anywhere on the planet for this. Sure, more ICU beds - but more people - and we're already running out of supplies.

Sorry, meant to say the cases were doubling every three days in NY.  if that spreads to the rest of the country, it is going to overwhelm the medical system.

People who don’t take this seriously now are going to take it seriously later.

It's inevitable considering the ease of transmission, and we on a National level have not done the basics to slow the transmission and flatten the curve. Hell, we can't even supply the healthcare people with the required tools for crying out loud - some system....

Coronavirus. These tend to do their dirty work in the winter and early spring. The coronavirus is the cause of about 20% of colds. There are more than 30 kinds, but only three or four affect people.

Just saw some semi-good news from NY. The rate of doubling went from 2 days to 3.4 days to 4.7 days. The medical system is still overwhelmed and there is a massive shortage of tools. Nonetheless, the flattening curve suggests that social distancing is working.

I doubt that there are many people in NYC claiming that this is a normal seasonal flu or cold.

That is indeed very good news, let's hope it's accurate and continues going the right direction. Thanks for posting, a little good news is sorely needed on this.

No, there's not. A "cold".....good grief.

Ya, because this happens every spring in New York....

New York Faces A Desperate Situation As COVID-19 Cases Top 25,000

New York has nowhere near the number of hospital beds, ventilators or health care professionals needed to meet the demand created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the state’s governor said Tuesday.

While state experts had previously projected that  New York would need 110,000 hospital beds at the disease’s apex in the state — already more than double the capacity of existing hospitals in the state — the accelerating rate of diagnoses had pushed that number higher still.

“The new projection suggests that the number of hospital beds needed could be as high as 140,000,” Cuomo said, of which 40,000 would need to be intensive care beds with ventilators.

Good news is sorely needed by all of us. My wife is very stressed. She asked me to turn off the news today because she said it was starting to feel too close and personal.

Yeah, good grief. Sometimes I wonder if these people are spewing this nonsense for attention.

Well, you folks (and the RINOS) wanted to outsource everything we make to foreign countries ... especially China.
