Should Bernie drop out tomorrow?

Recommended Posts

After tonight's expected primary results, Joe has opened up an insurmountable lead. Bernie has no path to victory. By ending his campaign he would do the country and the party a great service. Not only can unify and take the fight to trump, the remaining states could cancel their primaries and not expose more people to the virus. I hope Bernie does the honorable thing and unite to fight trump.

The premise of the OP is correct.  If Sanders continues in his now futile campaign, he will only hurt the Left's efforts to dump Trump.

If Bernie drops out and endorses Joe then it could be a great shot in the arm. If he drops out and blames coronavirus, it could be problematic if it plays to the narrative of a rigged nomination.

Can DNC primaries be cancelled? If so, how are pledged delegates awarded?

————

Republicans in South Carolina, Nevada, Arizona and Kansas are going to cancel their primaries and award the delegates to Trump.  Perhaps the Republican primary was rigged by the Trump team. 🤔

You bring up a good point about the pledging of delegates. I mentioned it only because I heard it said elsewhere. I can't remember where. Bernie should be given the proper space and freedom to end his campaign in his own time and on his own terms. Whatever road he decides to go down is going to have a big impact on how the party unifies for the GE fight before us. I hope he chooses his path wisely.

Biden.  Good grief.  Dude is about as inspiring as a wet paper bag.  I'd say I'm surprised, but I guess I'm just not anymore.

Ummm...go Biden?  Yay?  Here's to...Joe?  He's our man?  He'll really show us what a leader looks like?

I'm feeling a little bummed about it.  Might be better if I felt like I actually had ANY say in how ANY of this works, but the fact is I don't.  The primary here is irrelevant, it's over before it starts, and the state is so blue even if I saw a Republican I actually liked it wouldn't matter anyway.  I literally have zero affect on the election or the primary.  Zero.  I donated money early on to try to support the primaries I wanted, but that's all I can do.

I haven't always liked our nominee, but I've always voted for him.

My wife is not happy that it came down to two old men.

I’m happy with Biden. My fear about his mental acuity have passed.

I'd like to see him serve one term, heal the nation, and get us back on the right track. Then pass the torch to the next generation because, after all, it's their future. They have the power if they will only exercise their power at the ballotbox. If they fail again, they'll suffer for it. As for me, I'll be dead. It won't affect me. It's their world if they will only fight for it.

It’s starting to feel like 2008. The country and the world needs to come together to overcome this pandemic and the economic fallout. Joe is probably the best man for the job - certainly better than the carnival barker that presently occupies the Oval Office.

Alas, I am not optimistic about  young voters. They didn’t turn out to defeat Bush in 2004. Will they turn out to defeat Trump?

I'm not optimistic about the younger voters either. It's their future, if they don't get off their asses and fight for it, they won't have one.

I'm 50 and will not check a box for Biden, but will in other races.

I think that Bernie should stay in the Race just like in 2016.

The corporate democrats will again see that Joe is Hillary 2.0. There is still tons of states to vote, but will these push back the voting?

If there is no more voting primaries I think that there should be a contested convention.

Bernie should drop out when he's ready to drop out.

Clearly, Biden is going to win the nomination.  That much is obvious.  To push Bernie out the door at this point would most certainly alienate Bernie supporters.  That's something that I'm pretty sure Biden does not want to do.

Now is the time for Biden to win over Bernie's supporters.  I look forward to hearing his plan for bringing Bernie supporters into the fold.

any vote not cast for the runner up is mathematically identical to a vote cast for the winner.

oh come on man...

especially with Biden we need every darn vote.

Trump and the Republican Senate has to go.

It's vital. And, we'll still have the progressives

who can and should push push push

for more progressive policy.

"Just hold your nose and vote for Joe."

which would make a great bumper sticker.

Peace!

No holds barred chat

  • Hey kfools.. does this help?

    Liberals are going to hell.

  • Where’s at @slideman?

  • Hola

  • I know this one, this new chat thing. I've seen it called the "shoutbox" among other things in my past. Very hard to hide from the chat box. The question is asked, there's no time to go search what other folks think, this is real time. Only seconds should be between chat box replies. This one is made for me. In the chat box one has to be quick on their feet with stuff at the ready. This chat box is the worst nightmare of anyone trying to deal with ol' teach.

hey @teacher that sounds like too much work for me LOL I need that useless thing called *time* in order to authenticate facts and truths which get posted by deceitful Dems

  • What does the red number refer to? currently, on my screen it says 2

  • Where does it say 2?

  • So. In the chat....if you tag a member the text afterwards should be a private message.

  • How do? I'm teacher. If I'm online and the powers that be can figure out how to make it immediately apparent to me that whatever I've said here has been replied to I'm gonna show up right quick and kick some teeth in. It's the chat box, all this is new and scary. I know this gig. This starts now.

  • Hey kfools, did you lose your securtiy cert? On my browser it is saying your site is not secure?

  • Mine too. I'm looking into it.

  • Mine too.

  • I thought it was my location..

  • Just gave to renew the security cert. No big deal I'll do it tonight

  • OK thanks

  • Happy Anniversary, America... on your Civil Union.

Scroll the other way for a while and you'll see me saying that these days the chat box ain't gonna work as one has to be quick on one's feet. The question is posed, there ain't no stinkin time for ya'll to refer to your betters for the answer, ya'll don't understand these things, this political debate, ya'll don't have the answer at hand, ya'll haven't thought this through, ya'll ain't ready for the next question I'll ask,  ya'll can't handle the pace that a bloke such as I can bring it in the chat box, ya'll can't handle this format.

This one is made for me.
