Bernie Sanders campaigned for the release of Oscar Lopez Rivera

Recommended Posts

For a bit of perspective on yesterday's pardons.

WaPost refers to Rivera as an "independence advocate". Seriously.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/wp/2017/01/17/after-pressure-from-bernie-sanders-puerto-rican-independence-activist-wins-pardon/

" Oscar Lopez Rivera, a Puerto Rican independence activist convicted 35 years ago of a conspiracy against the U.S. government, will be freed from prison after President Obama commuted his sentence. Although lower-profile than the pardon of Chelsea Manning, the U.S. soldier convicted of giving classified information to WikiLeaks, the Rivera pardon has another distinction — it was personally campaigned for by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). "

NYPost? Refers to Rivera differently...

https://nypost.com/2016/05/16/sanders-wants-to-let-a-convicted-terrorist-out-of-prison-scot-free/

"

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders Monday urged President Obama to grant clemency to an unrepentant convicted Puerto Rican terrorist who has been imprisoned in the U.S. for more than 34 years.

Sanders, who dropped the bombshell during a town hall in San Juan, P.R., said Oscar López Rivera, 73, deserves freedom.

Similar to the things the left said about the terrorists that Trump deleted.

Ahem...I also supplied an article from the notoriously conservative WaPost.

Fact is, Sanders OPENLY advocated for the release of this individual. Regardless of who reported it...

OK?

I just bring this up to provide context to how Sanders is reacting to Trump's pardons. Which were also given to other less high profile people...

Left-wing criminal justice reform advocates praised many of Trump’s pardons.

“The Blagojevich pardon will rightly draw all the attention and criticism, but there’s actually some good news here, too,” noted the Brennan Center‘s Justice Program Senior Counsel Ames Grawert. “Crystal Munoz, and Tynice Nichole Hall–all lower-level drug offenders–received commutations today [and] Judith Negron‘s case didn’t involve drugs but was *supported by* drug policy reform advocates.

Many liberals, however, bent themselves over backwards simply seeking any available avenue on which to condemn Trump—even in the exercise of mercy and grace.

Bernie has admitted he’s a communist but apparently there’s an expiration date on democrats while they bring up what Trump said 30 years ago lol....

A bit early for "context". Let's see how Trump* the swamp drainer lol deals with Julian Assange

Early? Trump issued pardons yesterday and Sanders commented on them. This context is right on time.

What do you mean by "how he deals with Assange"?

The NY Post has just slightly more credibility than the National Enquirer.

WaPost was cited as well.

Amazing how much liberals will avoid the point by attacking the source.

Communist but that’s still unpopular so to continue milking the system it’s now “socialist” .
