BACKFIRED: Trump deluged in Mockery as Ukraine announces an Investigation into his Criminal Associates

Recommended Posts

This Thursday,Ukrainian authorities announced that they opened an investigation into whether former US ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch was being surveilled by associates of Rudy Giuliani while she was in Kyiv last spring.

The probe was launched after House Democrats released a trove of documents this Tuesday that showed communications between Lev Parnas and Trump donor Robert Hyde that discussed Yovanovitch’s movement throughout Kyiv. In an interview with Rachel Maddow this Wednesday, Parnas denied any sinister nature regarding the messages, and said he was just humoring Hyde, who he accused of being an alcoholic.

Either way, Twitter reacted to the news, with many sensing that the investigations into Donald Trump’s presidency just entered into a new phase:

Not the investigation he wanted and got IMPEACHED for.

Important point. Ukraine will investigate this (because it’s credible) but would not investigate (or announce) Joe Biden. Because it isn’t. Ukraine govt us officially less corrupt than the WH.

Too funny that they have announced this investigation, all while 45 is still waiting for his Biden announcement. Karma... lol

This is everything. Projection comes full circle.

Finally, American corruption in Ukraine. Trump has been trying to fabricate something for a year now...finally has it.

Yay! Trump FINALLY got his Ukraine investigation! He needs to be careful what he wishes for though.

Looks like Ukraine finally opened up an investigation... just against the actual criminals in all this: The Trump administration and their goons. https://twitter.com/abc/status/1217793110543097857

I swear this administration is like bizarro world... everything they say... the exact opposite turns out to be true. They FINALLY got Ukraine to announce an investigation https://twitter.com/jimsciutto/status/1217790620749717505

Putin is laughing at the USA. His interference in our 2016 elections on behalf of the depraved and dimwitted Donald Trump has succeeded far beyond his greatest expectations.

And he didn't even plan on getting the Republican Party to help him subvert American democracy and the economy too, but Moscow Mitch and Republicans in Congress have become Putin puppets, just like the Traitor Trump!

Even when we standardize it by getting annual averages, GOP administrations still have 29 times more indictments, 64 times more convictions, and 24 times more prison sentences.

"“I know nothing about him but I can tell you this, I don’t know him, I've never spoken to him,” Trump told reporters at the White House Thursday...

X-republican Joe Scarborough: ConMan Trump doesn’t realize how much trouble he’s in — and GOP unsure how to defend him

Joe Scarborough said President Donald Trump is fooling himself on impeachment.

Trump insists he did nothing wrong in his actions toward Ukraine and complains that he’s the victim of an impeachment “hoax,” but the “Morning Joe” host said that most Americans disagree.

“He’s talking to himself when he talks about a perfect phone call, yeah,” Scarborough said. “He says it’s a hoax, because what he’s facing now isn’t even what he was facing with (Robert) Mueller. There’s more of a split when it came to what the American public believed, but he said it’s a hoax and nobody can believe this is happening, and etc., etc., etc., and yet over 70 percent of Americans want a full and fair trial.”

“They don’t want ‘Moscow Mitch’ McConnell and (Sen.) Lindsey Graham to shut things down,” he added. “Over 70 percent want to hear from witnesses. That’s seven in 10 Americans. They want to know the truth, that’s all they want to know. They want to know the truth.”

A slim majority of Americans also agree that Trump should be impeached, Scarborough said.

“He says it’s a hoax, nobody can believe this,” Scarborough said. “He’s talking to himself. A majority believes he should be impeached. We remember that Fox (News) poll and other polls that show majority believe he should be removed if office for that phone call, and the things that he did around that, as well.”

“So this is a problem with the Republicans not being able to put together a defense of Donald Trump,” Scarborough added. “He lives in a separate universe from the rest of them, factually, and he’s disconnected from the reality of this political crisis.”

The Lev Parnas interview is damning — but his documents are even worse for Trump: Former US Attorney

Rudy Giuliani’s associate Lev Parnas appeared on MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Wednesday, and it’s unclear if he will be called to testify in the Senate impeachment trial that begins Tuesday. According to former U.S. Attorney Harry Litman, however, whatever Parnas says is not as important as the documents he submitted three months ago to the Department of Justice and to the House Intelligence Committee.

In an editorial column for the Washington Post, Litman explained that the documents are the “mother lode” of information and can’t be dismissed as biased or under threat of prosecution. They’re black and white documents.

“Documents, unlike witnesses, don’t go south on you. The much-anticipated Bolton testimony is a prime example,” Litman wrote. “If and when [John] Bolton raises his right hand, he already will have crafted what he wants to say down to the word. And if, as is likely, he doesn’t want to mortally wound the president, he will do his best to avoid doing so.”

Bolton has refused to comply with subpoenas from the House, but said he would comply with Senate subpoenas. As a point of fact, subpoenas don’t generally allow witnesses to pick and choose which ones they comply with. Bolton has revealed, however, that he is writing an upcoming book that has all of the information in it that he would likely be questioned about.

Bolton reportedly called the scheme cooked up by Giuliani and President Donald Trump a kind of “drug deal.”

During his interview with Maddow, Parnas said that Bolton “knows everything” and that he was the one who went to Poland to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky instead of Vice President Mike Pence or Trump.

“And as Bolton illustrates, witnesses can also have multiple objectives — Bolton will be sworn to tell the truth, yes, but will he also have one eye on book sales, or his status with the public and his party, or some resentment with onetime rivals in Trump’s orbit?” wrote Litman. “They also have personality quirks that inevitably color testimony. Bolton, for instance, has a reputation as something of a hothead. That personality type presents certain opportunities for the deft trial lawyer, but it also can post an obstacle to getting at the truth.”

Finally, remember, witnesses can be rehabilitated by the other side. If a witness at first seems to bolster the House’s case, we can expect the softest of softballs from the Republican side to create at least some ambiguity. That’s tougher to do when the evidence is right there in black and white.

He closed by demanding “the Democratic House managers need to insist on complete compliance with their document requests.”
