As you can see we collect record amount of taxes every year for as long as it has been recorded.

I'll bet there was a year or two in there during the Great Depression where it actually went down?  But that's just a guess.

In general, the U.S. population grows by millions of people every year, the economy is therefore by definition larger, and tax receipts and expenditures should reasonably be larger, too.

But look at the rate of growth leading up to 2016, and the rate of growth just after 2016.  In 2017 it was nearly flat, which, when plotted against a rising population with a larger workforce supposedly nearly fully employed, is odd, and probably not a good thing.

So ever year but the bush years after the economy fell off the table we collect record tax income.

The tax cuts were in 2003. The revenue went down that year of the cuts but those years were recovering from the .com bubble.

His point is a childish one. It's that only republicans perform badly. This is pure garbage. He never takes into account the make up of congress in any particular year., which is why it's childish. He is just making a partisan argument the can't  defend. My argument on the other  hand is that the government as a whole is growing each year at a frightening rate.

DLN also argued with me that we did not have record tax revenue back in 2014. Now he is saying we had it every year.

See, it's bi-partisan in the spending. I blame both parties. I expect from the democrats. but I HATE the GOP for their part, because they lie to us and tell us they are fiscally conservative.

Republicans agree to massive spending bill, despite record deficits

Wake up, conservatives. Do deficits only matter under Democrats? After record spending that makes Obama look conservative, what are Republicans doing? Cutting a deal with Democrats to pass a bill increasing spending by $320 billion for liberal bureaucracies but not a penny for stepped-up ICE immigration enforcement.

Despite collecting that record amount in taxes, however, the federal government still ran a deficit of $343,360,000,000 during October and November because it spent $814,012,000,000 in those two months.
