Proportionality - GRAPHIC Why you need a gun against a knife.

If you were using 38 special in a 1913 Colt Revolver, then THAT would have been your problem!   Colt really did not start making guns for the 38 special cartridge until about mid-century.  S&W did make 38 specials earlier than that (actually called the 38 Smith & Wesson Special.)

If it was a 1913 Colt in 38 caliber, then it was likely a Colt Police Positive, which would not chamber a 38 Special cartridge, but a shorter now-obsolete round.  Either way, what the heck were you using a 1913 revolver for self protection for anyway?

It was a Police Special, as I recall.Because that's what the Guns Store guy sold me, and the rounds would fall out of the chamber easily.

I hated guns a few years ago. I adore them now. For someone to say that they want to take away some guns that I havent even had the chance to fire yet.. that makes me very sad. I will not allow it. noope

well, im against almost all of that. I would be up for the age limit for gun ownership to be raised to 21. It seems that these disgruntled kids that just graduate are able to legally have access to guns..go back and fire up their schools

red flag laws are a good start, but what if you are just weird? not everyone brags about their crime before they commit it. besides, that would disqualify many people. and it wouldn't stop someone who wanted a gun bad enough

you're against most of it... some folks are against none of it, or some of it, or only a tiny bit of it.  If your city council decreed that the speed limit on all the roads in your town was 5 mph... wouldn't you and your fellow citizens have the right to vote out the aldermen and replace them with folks who were more reasonable?  That's how societies function.  We dicker back and forth and we end up with something that a majority of us can live with... until we can't.  then we elect new folks, rinse, lather, repeat.

The only thing that is different nowadays is the total refusal of both sides to compromise.  That will result in wilder swings of the pendulum, I predict.

Which is not the same as the  modern .38 Special  right?

S&W did make a gun chambered for a modern 38 cartridge I believe as early as 1900 or so.  It was there cartridge so it would have been a long time before Colt readily adopted it.

I’ve learned more about guns, cars , booze and politics from this forum. It’s like playboy . Lol I’m here for the articles.

LOL. What's funny is that line is not completely a joke. I wrote a term paper in college for the class Vice Crime and Substance Abuse and the main source was from a series of articles from Playboy. Hefner had damn good writers working for that magazine. (And, yes, I was distracted the whole time)

Gun owners have been compromising since the National Firearms Act of 1934 and with each and every gun ban following that. The leftist calls for "gun compromise" are never-ending.  They want all of our guns.  We know it.  Done.

It could have been.  But, rounds falling out of the cylinder sounds like you were sold the wrong ammo.  I don't know how far back you are going, but there were other 38 rounds made back then, like .380 revolver, 38 Colt, 38 S&W, probably others.   The "38" designation on old guns can be confusing.  And, don't get me started with old ammo.

Still, even old Colt revolvers were well made.  I've not heard of an old Colt ever having a problem with the cylinder turning, unless the ammo was wrong.  Timing, maybe, but not cylinder turning.   The Europeans were making precision double-action revolvers since about the 1870's.  Americans were late to that game (preferring SA revolvers), but once Colt got in, they made good firearms, (except all of that cheap top-break stuff)

I am not against the constitution.  I will support and defend it as written.  I will work through the established political process to amend it and I will work to have it interpreted differently than it has been.

They also want your knives.   See the UK.

They want to disarm the public because they know that's the only way they can force the *utopian* government they promote on us.

Oh Lord, the UK knife laws are about as stupid as you could imagine.  Talk about something that can be made out of an old saw blade or almost anything.  They still have not learned that criminals just don't care about their stupid laws.  It's mind-boggling to me.

Criminals in the UK have no problem acquiring "Ballistic Knives"

I am sure that, had I been a women's suffrage supporter  in the years before the 19th Amendment was passed, you would have accused me of being against the constitution as well.

I loved that magazine. From the centerfold to the cartoons. Even William F. Buckley got published by Playboy.  You wouldn't see that today in our polarized society. I'm glad Hef died before getting caught up in the #MeToo movement. They would have crucified him. It may have been an ephemeral thing, though, Playboy bunnies and the TV show Playboy After Dark don't age too well. I still buy an occasional mag on eBay to see an old favorite. I think I got one on Missy Cleveland a couple of years ago.
