JULY 2, 2019

As we reported in the thread entitled, "THE BLACK ILLUMINATI DECIDES THE FATE OF BLACKS AND LATINOS," several hispanic sources claimed that on Friday, June 28, 2019, at about 9:48 pm, Ferguson Township Police, located in State College, Pennsylvania, showed up at the Northland Motel (814) 237-1400, located at: 1521 Martin Street in State College, Pa.  According to sources, one of the caucasian females, who is a Maid or Housekeeper, observed an argument between a hispanic male and a hispanic female, who stays in room #104. Several hispanics say that they argue all of the time but when snitches are listening in, they can sometimes take things too far. An nosy person have never heard what they wanted to hear and will usually make things up. The caucasian female Maids, according to sources, are the eyes and ears for the caucasian female motel manager, known as Pam. They even have her phone number in their Contacts within their cell phones. And according to hispanics sitting in their cars in front of the motel, paying close attention to other threats made against the hispanic couple by those who target both blacks and hispanics, for the next two days (Saturday and Sunday) the hispanic couple suffered parties continuously knocking at their door. Some will term it harrassment. Pam, the caucasian female motel manager, according to sources, has a history of targeting black and latino Guests.  She works closely with police who favor caucasians over the so-called minorities. It has also been revealed that many police target minorities even when they don't know background checks are secretly being done against them. White power freaks are a major problem in the entire State of Pennsylvania. And the sad thing which gets them off everytime is how they have the ability to use acting techniques to fool anyone inquiring about their mane evils.

Pennsylvania has more white power groups in the state than in any other state throughout the U.S. Iowa also has a large number of white supremacists, which is why a caucasian male was recently arrested for beating an unarmed blackman with a metal pipe. In Pennsylvania, white power females are much more ruthless than most of the racist men. Everything with them deals with lying, psychology, and fabricated back stories on their targets. If there was an investigation done in Central Pennsylvania, it will clearly unmask a myriad of females involved with racism and lies. We hear that the Northland Motel in State College is owned by an Armenian young fellow. Have he betrayed other so-called minorities for money and power? Are blacks and chinese making secret statements that's actually keeping white power active? Some claim that when white power freaks run things it makes the area safer. The only terror in white power communities is white power and white power police threats against so-called minorities! However, proving that many cops are in the mix with spreading hate speech and racism throughout America, the Center for Investigative Reporting revealed Thursday, June 27, 2019, that they were allowed to download the membership rolls of private Facebook groups. The results were that they found the members of extremist groups and police groups. “We loaded those roughly 1 million names into a database and asked a simple question: How many people were members of at least one extremist group and at least one police group?” the report explained. There were 14,000 hits that surfaced, they said, but they looked at just a mere fraction of the list. That’s when they discovered almost 400 users currently employed as police officers, sheriffs, prison guards or retired law enforcement that were also members of extremist Facebook groups.

Their researchers then tried to join the groups to see what was being said, and it was outright shocking. “Officers engaging in conduct that calls into question their ability to serve their communities without prejudice,” the report revealed. “More than 50 police departments took action or launched internal investigations after we called them with our findings.” They explained that they believed the public should have access to the information and detailed it in their full report. “We started with a list of more than 1,200 extremist groups compiled by Megan Squire, a computer science professor at Elon University and leading expert on extremism on Facebook,” the report detailed their methodology. “Squire, who has been scouring Facebook for extremists for a couple of years, methodically works through the platform, searching for groups with names that denigrate people by race, religion, gender or sexuality or that contain code words used by extremist movements. And because Facebook recommends new groups based on what Squire searches for, she would find new groups that way, too. When we reviewed the groups, we removed some from the list because we did not believe they met the criteria.” Los Angeles Police Sgt. John Valdez was one of the officers exposed as member of an extremist Facebook group. In 2013, Valdez was involved in a non-fatal shooting of two people. This only includes a small fraction of the 14,000 results they saw. https://www.revealnews.org/article/these-police-officers-were-members-of-extremist-groups-on-facebook/.

Many Americans don't know that Facebook is not only a threat to national security, but is also a threat to humanity. Facebook is ran by the CIA, the FBI, the NSA, and federal government agencies with local police, and Special Interest Groups. Most poor people became a part of Facebook because it allowed them to meet new people and to share personal experiences. But then there were those who committed acts of violence and used Facebook as a medium to spread the madness. Then there were trends where children used Facebook to try "one punch knockouts" on elderly people. They even posted videos where the youth would knock out the disabled. Then there were posts which supported racist attacks against others. And like a sponge absorbing whatever liquid is nearby, other children picked up on the attacks and joined forces with the demons who first started the trends. All in the same vein, police were posting racist and violent threads on Facebook which many children started reacting to. There were mass shootings as a result of some of the police posts which will never bare witness against them in any court of law. Alot of white power freaks felt so empowered that they would attack blacks and latinos knowing that caucasian white power police would have their backs. And on other websites, these white power freaks spoke about how black cops were forced to work with them and had their backs. Then there was a trend implemented on the internet where people were posting topics about other Americans on Facebook, and other Social Websites, with back stories. Some of the time there were pictures of these people who had no idea that they were being photographed.

And like an infection, the posting of information about other Americans with attached back stories morphed into threads where lies were posted about American threats to Socialists and Communists in Congress and in the Senate, mostly revealed after 2010. The lies with back stories against certain Americans had information supplied to them by police officers and corrupt federal agents. Deep State seen that by using people against people in this way it made it much easier to personally attack those on "Government Hit lists!" Millenials and Generation Z, much like today, were being used to hack into computers or Wifi Jam targets surfing the internet. These same children have advanced in numbers in June of 2019, and at least 46% of them approve of a Socialist/Communist America. Parties working within the Obama Administration, even in June of 2019, are working behind the scenes with these children/college students. Some of the children are being supplied devices which copy internet activity of everyone on specific wifi hotspots. Government agents and police have even supplied them with technology that decodes passwords so that they can get into any wifi hotspot no matter how difficult the passwords are. President Obama openly supported the degrading and destroying of Americans who were threats to his agenda. Haven't this always been the actions of Communists?

This is how you can tell the difference between Capitalists versus Socialists/Communists. However, police and the feds seen that by using the youth, and others, to come up with lies and back stories against American threats to the New World Order, combined with others who spied on and targeted the same parties no matter where they went in neighborhoods, et cetera, intertwining all of the synthetic evidence and lies solidified fabricated characteristics of all threats. In other words, no matter where Americans against the New World Order would travel or reside, it was always someone around them who would complain about them pursuant to Operations involving police and the feds. And in every city and town throughout the U.S., there are people tied in with this Deep State sort of conspiracy agenda. The Black Illuminati, which was headed by Barack Obama, was also involved with the conspiracies. The Black Illuminati, in 2019, have been recorded sending blackmen and women at other blackmen and women who were threats to their agendas. The Black Illuminati uses photos of blacks to expose them to the Children of the Corn for destruction. And whether black people know it or not, the Black Illuminati are more ruthless against people of color than they are any other race on the planet! They work closely with Deep State, white supremacists, and white power cops, in order to keep certain blacks and latinos in check.

Americans were further informed that the Bilderbergs decide the fate of humanity and their Satanic pledge is global Communism everywhere on the Planet Earth. Even Denver council member, who won recently, promised to impose Communism ‘by any means necessary’  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkuBmsfSiUM. Also, when the Chinese turn off the media connected to the world, they plan on killing hundreds of thousands of people. China, not long ago, murdered over 10,000 people and the media went black. Noone can get any information out of them about what happened to those 10,000 people who were slaughtered. Communist Amazon has robots that steal information from children and from adults. https://www.seattletimes.com/business/amazon/suit-alleges-amazons-alexa-violates-laws-by-recording-childrens-voices-without-consent/. The information being stolen from children is being stored in massive data banks which can either target the children or those around the children in the upcoming future! For what reason do one have to store data on another other than to use what is within it against the latter. There are countless evil alien human hybrid police officers who are promoting racism nation-wide for the sole purpose of destabilizing America for the takeover. Just as China feels that they have more evil alien human hybrids supporting their Communist New World Order than there are humans, America too will join the ranks of terrorizing and killing its populace blackening out the media. You haven't seen nothing yet! https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/12/world/asia/hong-kong-protest-extradition.html. And while China has its media shut off to the outside world, there will be hundreds of thousands of young people slaughtered in the streets by the brutal evil alien human hybrid controlled militaries. American police are bringing the U.S. into the same form of destabilization, by first turning the people against themselves. https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2019/06/03/phoenix-police-officers-facebook-posts-include-racist-violent-commentary/1331941001/  Police Unions support them in their agendas because it is the order of the Queen!  https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/phoenix/2019/06/06/phoenix-police-union-defends-officers-identified-report-racist-facebook-comments/1369501001/. There are many racist cops across America and there numbers are much more than 2,900, and this has being going on for many years.   https://www.texasmonthly.com/politics/north-texas-cops-caught-sharing-racist-facebook-posts/  https://www.keranews.org/post/research-uncovers-cops-racist-violent-social-media-posts. Throughout the 1990's, when Joe Biden supported the Clintons "Crime Bill", hundreds of thousands of blackmen and women were incarcerated. Joe Biden, and all the rest who has ties to Satanic activity, otherwise they wouldn't be wealthy, are the Anti-Christ. The Arabic word for Anti-Christ is Dajjal, which means "a group of liars." Satanic Psychiatrists and Psychologists have worked with Judicial systems for years in targeting men and women.

And most of the women targeted by them were in fact witches. The female role in the New World Order is very thorough. Many of the women support 5G frequencies being spread all around the U.S., except for where they live. It is very important for Americans to know that the wealthy are separating themselves from you, even though they'll remain here in the U.S. As a massive wave of cancer causing 5G technology is sheepishly introduced to first world populations, and they predict by 2024, 5G subscriptions will reach 1.9 billion, 35 percent of traffic will be carried by 5G networks, and up to 65 percent of the global population will be consumed by the technology. This makes it the fastest generation to be rolled out on a global scale. So keep your eyes on Millenials and Gneration Z, who plan to hand us all over on a teflon platter. 13,000 Square Miles Of U.S. has made cell phones & Internet illegal. A massive section of the United States, bigger than the state of Maryland, has been quarantined by the establishment as a protective zone for themselves against cell phone towers and the internet when the 5G grid comes online. The problem is that most truth seekers vioew only the masculine negative effect in a form known as freemasons. But the Eastern Stars are really forces to be reckoned with! They are combing through American communities thoroughly, and whats being transformed from their evils and spells is nothing like ever before in history. At one time, whether good or bad, witches were burned for their evil dark spells and chaos. However, they don't burn witches anymore. During the 1980's and the 1990's, witches were incarcerated. They were all placed in institutions together. And now they are out for vengeance. And when the spells bringing in a New World Order is done the flies will be released! Just view how witches have tooken over Africa. Large flyswarms are a testimony to thsi. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlhN0vPSP0s. Many humans from around the world are talking about Women in Black (WIB). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yuYvPiLgsE.

There are three times as many single women in their 30's now than there were in the 1970's. By the time these women have established their careers, many are too threadbare and hard-bitten to marry, and the good men are all gone. They are the victims of the evilest, most successful, social engineering program in history. It was designed to give women career instead of family. But until feminists acknowledge that they are victims of a cruel hoax, they won't be able to salvage whatever is left. The key thing to realize is that feminism was not spontaneous grassroots social change as portrayed. It was social engineering designed to phase out gender, marriage and the nuclear family. There are half as many nuclear families now than there were in the 1960s. The destruction of the family is part of a larger agenda to destabilize and depopulate society in advance of a thinly veiled totalitarian world government.  Sexual liberation is part of this agenda. Men see no reason to marry now that unfettered sex is so plentiful.

Feminists have been neutered by adopting the male role model and eschewing the feminine one. They need to rediscover their natural feminine instincts. This involves finding a man they can believe in, and nurture, and not settling for less. True love stems from the sacrifice that women make for the person they love. Let him lead and keep quiet about all his faults. But don't let him take you for granted and dump him if he doesn't love you back (i.e look after your interests and needs.) Generally speaking, the people behind elite social engineering are Satanists in the sense they want to override God (Truth) AND Nature. They deliberately do evil against humanity. Women were designed to marry and have children in their late teens and early twenties. That's when they are irresistible to young men. They should marry men who have graduated and are starting their careers. Raising children is not an afterthought. It is what married people do together, what they have in common. It's natural growth, both biological and in terms of our personal development and fulfilment. Nature doesn't give rain checks, as millions of women are discovering, the hard way. Woman loves a man by surrendering her worldly power and putting her trust in him. Female love is epitomized by trust. If she doesn't trust him, she doesn't love him. This is how two people become one in marriage. A husband "possesses" his wife; this is symbolized and consecrated by the sex act.

Communist bankers use feminism to destroy love, marriage and family. They teach women to seek power instead of surrendering it. This is lesbian since masculinity is defined by power. Women get love by surrendering power. Instead of becoming one, man and woman compete for power.  A constant drumbeat of propaganda (infidelity, domestic violence, sexual harassment etc.) disparages men and teach women NOT to trust them. Women are taught to be self-seeking, and promiscuous. By killing trust, they have killed love. This is the feminist formula for purging the world of love. Communism is Satanism, and until we realize we are under daily occult attack, we will be helpless to defend ourselves.  The difference between an alpha and beta man is that an Alpha Male convinces a woman to do what he wants. He makes her want to be his. A Beta Male hopes she'll love him if he does what she wants. A Beta Male can never satisfy a woman. But a woman must choose to belong (surrender) to her husband. And, of course, a husband must first earn her trust (through courtship) and keep it. Feminism cries out for "equality."  Equality does not mean the same. Men and woman have different needs. Men need power; women need love. Heterosexual love is the exchange of the two.

The New Age and Spiritual movements are fond of saying that history has been controlled by patriarchal societies which have suppressed the "feminine energy", hence causing imbalance and destruction. For example, the popular Internet films "Esoteric Agenda" and "Kymatica" make this point. However, what these movements are afraid to admit, is that modern day feminism totally suppresses and destroys this "feminine energy" more than any patriarchal society ever did. And that's the irony, that feminism destroys femininity. So then, why use such a term when its effects are the exact opposite? Why isn't this movement called "masculinity for women?" Obviously, whoever was behind this movement knew something about neurolinguistic programming - that by pretending to be the opposite of what you are, you trick and lure people by using deception. In this case, women who consider themselves "feminine" will uncritically assume that a movement called "feminism" must be on their side in helping with their womanhood and femininity, when nothing could be further from the truth.

The sad thing is that many women are tricked into thinking that this "new feminism" is somehow liberating them and allowing them to reach their full potential. Yet how can they become self-actualized by suppressing their own natural life force or feminine energy? How is that wholesome or harmonious, when it's destructive to relationships and forces men to emasculate themselves and deny their own masculinity? Any time you try to bring up something by oppressing others, it will be a formula for destruction. These women are tricked and lured in by the promise of "equality", which eventually turns them asexual, bestial and dominant before they know it. That's the "trap of feminism". The natural female energy is loving, caring, nurturing, tender, and seeks a symbiotic relationship with the male energy. This results in the creation of life, the highest power. Whatever you want to call it - God, Mother Nature, the Universal Creative Force, etc. - that is how it was naturally meant to be. Male and female energy were meant to complement each other, not compete and tear each other down, or engage in any "battle of the sexes", which is what has happened (and may possibly be engineered by the global elite according to some sources, Google "Nick Rockefeller and feminism"). Yet the feminist movement and its values preach the complete opposite and antithesis. Not only do they incite male bashing and double standards against men in society  but they indoctrinate women to look down on men, NOT NEED men, NOT WANT men, be independent, and view males as lower forms of life that are creeps and oppressors by nature. Men are not respected or admired, but seen as immature and dumb.

Feminism ... makes dating a nightmare of epic proportions, and totally disrupts the natural harmony of men and women. It turns women hateful and apathetic toward men. In effect, it gives women an unaccountable status where they can get away with anything, and demonetize anyone who resists. As a result, they can abuse and mistreat men without judgment or consequences, for it is taboo to argue or stand up to them. Females in America are given role models in the form of action stars, like Angelina Jolie, who in Tomb Raider as Lara Croft, is rough and tough, kicks ***, does not need men, does not act sweet, feminine or tender, does not giggle or blush, and all the while looking sexy at the same time. Yet any honest natural man will tell you that such a woman with no feminine qualities is not attractive at all, and dealing with her is very awkward. How can you have a loving, intimate, fulfilling relationship with a woman who is rough and tough, doesn't need you and tries to act stronger than you? You can't flirt with her, court her, or charm her without feeling like you are violating her "independence from femininity". Yet you can't treat her like a male buddy either, because no matter how hard she tries to act like a man, she is not one, in ANY way. So what can you do with her?! You can't treat her like a man or a woman! It's the most awkward and unnatural thing. Plus, a feminist can never become a man, because a normal man is not high strung or easily offended by little things the way a feminist or masculine woman is. Thus these feminists are more like bestial freaks of nature, rather than men, which is a horrible thing.

Furthermore, these feminists and independent women do not like to dress feminine. They hate wearing skits and high heels (which they view as oppressive) and like cutting their hair short to look like men. How can that be beautiful or feminine to men? How can that bring out the male attraction for the feminine? How can being strong, masculine and independent soothe a man's need for tenderness and fulfill his need for love and romance and his need to merge with the female energy! What strong independent American women don't understand, is that you can't make a man become more masculine by becoming masculine yourself. You bring out the masculinity in a man by becoming FEMININE! That's the key truth that feminism hides from you. Obviously feminism has screwed up relationships in America, whether it was engineered or not. There's no way around it. And that's NOT a good thing. It's a total scam against women. It masculines women and emasculates men, twisting the male/female dynamic out of whack, turning America into the most unnatural dating scene in the world. It is also tyranny in disguise, which seeks to placate and weaken males, while giving women unaccountable power, which corrupts and ruins relationships.  Feminists NEVER win on logic or reason, because their movement is not a rational one at all, but a hateful emotional one that uses shaming tactics rather than reason. Overall, it is destructive and deceptive to both men and women. Worst of all, it destroys and suppresses the most beautiful thing in the world - the feminine beauty and soul. So if you are really pro-women and pro-female, you'd expose this scam and bring awareness of it, so people can see what it really is. You'd help women get back in touch with their true divine female energy inherent in them, and stop this scam which tries to get women to deny their own femininity.

wassik...I just bought this book for Lab Rat (my squeez) for some reason I feel as if you would like to read it.

Here is some info about it to help you decide if you want to: (let me know and I will mail it to you)

In the decades following the publication of The Master and Margarita, myriad critics have attempted to find a key to unlock the meaning of Bulgakov’s unfinished masterwork. Some viewed the novel as a political roman à clef, laboriously substituting historical figures from Stalinist Moscow for Bulgakov’s characters. Others posited a religious formula to understand the relationships between good and evil in the novel.

After giving myself time to think, I believe that any attempts to reduce the novel to a formula reflect some readers’ desire for neat, safe boxes to contain the world. This approach is at odds with the fear-ridden, desperate, and yet transcendent reality of Bulgakov’s experience in writing, revising, destroying, reconstructing, and then revising the novel, up to his death in Moscow on March 10, 1940. The Master and Margarita shows evidence of Bulgakov’s struggles to complete it, especially in part two, which illness prevented him from revising. I believe that the novel’s profound humanity stems from these imperfections, these facets not quite fitting neatly together, these jarring movements from scene to scene. In the end, The Master and Margarita is, by virtue of its own existence, a testament to the necessity of art in times of repression, and to the urgent need for artists to veer from cowardice and hold firmly to their commitment to living a true human life, with fantasy and reality combined, with history and invention feeding into each other, with good and evil providing the shadows and depth that make life meaningful and real.

One approach to The Master and Margarita that appeals to me is understanding it, in part, as a fairy tale. In the novel, Bulgakov threads together three different storylines, which intertwine, especially at the novel’s conclusion: the often slapstick depiction of life in Stalinist Moscow, seen in part through the antics of the devil Woland and his demonic helpers; the story of Pilate, with names and details transformed from the familiar Biblical versions; and the story of the Master and Margarita. The action takes place in a compressed time frame, so readers looking for character development will be disappointed. Instead, Bulgakov develops an extended allegory where flight equals freedom, where greed and small-mindedness are punished, and where weary artists are afforded some mercy and peace.

The Master and Margarita provided Bulgakov with a lifeline to the imagination in the midst of the stultifying culture of Stalinist Russia. There are healthy doses of wish fulfillment in the novel, especially in those sections in which Woland’s minions, Azazello, Behemoth, and Koroviev, wreak retribution for the petty-mindedness and greed inherent in this political and social system. There also is a desperate attempt to resist the Stalinist bent towards monotony and flatness, and instead to weave dizzying strands of magic, fantasy, and power into life in Moscow. These attempts to use a story as wish fulfillment, criticizing a social order by turning it upside down in fiction, and recognizing how to use an audience’s sense of wonder as a fulcrum for change, resonate with the historical and cultural functions of fairy tales as described by scholars including Jack Zipes in The Great Fairy Tale Tradition and Marina Warner inFrom the Beast to the Blonde: On Fairy Tales and their Tellers. Magic and wonder force the reader to acknowledge other possibilities outside of a reality of political repression, poverty, and war. When fairy tales reveal challenges to misplaced authority, whether in the guise of an evil queen or a greedy government official, they may take on one of two roles: a subversive threat to authority, or a valve to release the pressure of living under severe constraints. Perhaps most important, fairy tales remind their readers that life is miraculous, and that certain freedoms, such as the freedom to imagine and dream, can be nurtured and honored even under the most restrictive regimes.

For Bulgakov, the blend of the fantastical and the everyday in The Master and Margarita serves as his manifesto. Throughout his life, he fought to preserve the full human experience, not the two-dimensional totalitarianism in the Stalinist USSR, where human life was flattened of any sense of wonder, creativity, exuberance. Instead, he advocated for human life with all its shadows and colors, with a foundation in imagination and wonder. The freedom he sought was not simply freedom from communal housing or repressive government policies. Instead, he sought the freedom to imagine, to dream, to infuse his life with wonder, and to share his vision. For this reason, any attempt to read The Master and Margarita as a simple satire of Stalinist totalitarianism is misguided. Instead, Bulgakov sought to fly free along with his characters, and in doing so to tap into the universal human need for imagination, wonder, and freedom of the intellect and spirit.

Although Bulgakov universalized his quest for artistic freedom in The Master and Margarita, he drew inspiration and a sense of urgency from his experiences. A playwright, he faced censorship as his plays were banned and productions cancelled. He saw his fellow writers imprisoned for following their calling. (In response to one of these cases, Bulgakov destroyed one version of The Master and Margarita, which he later reconstructed.) In desperation, between 1929 and 1930 Bulgakov wrote three letters to Soviet government officials, including Stalin, to protest his censorship and beg for a chance to practice his art, if not within Russia, outside it. In the final letter, dated March 28, 1930, Bulgakov movingly describes his ordeal, arguing that his duty as a writer is to defend artistic freedom, and pleading that being silenced is tantamount to death. Although the letters provided Bulgakov with employment after receiving a favorable response, and saved him from arrest or execution, he still faced his works’ being banned and suppressed. He devoted the last years of his life to revising The Master and Margarita, knowing he would not live to see it published, and sometimes despairing it would ever be read outside of his family circle. His widow, Yelena Shilovskaya, worked tirelessly after his death for decades, preserving his manuscript and finally seeing it published, in a censored version, in 1966 and 1967.

Some criticism of The Master and Margarita comes from the abrupt transitions and changes in mood among the three storylines: the actions of Woland and his minions in Moscow; the transformed story of Pontius Pilate, with some striking changes to the names of characters and the sequence of events which simultaneously make the narrative seem more historical and keep readers off-balance; and the story of the Master and Margarita, which includes Bulgakov’s central concerns about cowardice, artistry, duty, loyalty and love. I believe that Bulgakov purposefully constructed his novel so that the reader would be pulled from dimension to dimension. The effect, although jarring, is one of constant instability and surprise. The reader is immersed in a world where a Biblical past seems more historically based and less fantastic than 20th-century Moscow, where characters who are petty and greedy are meted out fantastic public punishments, at times literally on a stage, and where in the end characters with the most substance and loyalty have their lives transformed through magic. By carefully building this multifaceted world, with all the seams showing, Bulgakov forces us as readers to consider the intersections among these worlds. Bulgakov reveals how we cut ourselves off from the wellsprings of magic and wonder, and invites us to join him in mounting a broomstick and riding off into the night sky, free from the constraints of our everyday lives.

Just as Bulgakov confounds his readers’ expectations of a unified and seamless world, so he also makes us question our assumptions about good and evil. A key character is Woland, the devil at the center of the magical action. From his appearance in the first chapter, Woland presents an arresting and disconcerting figure. Woland immediately inserts himself into a conversation with Berlioz, the editor of a literary magazine and chair of MASSOLIT, a prestigious literary association, and Ivan, a poet also known by his pen name Bezdomny, engaging in a debate with them about the existence of God. Berlioz parrots many of the current arguments against the existence of God, but Woland deftly counters his arguments in a manner that veers between the charming and the sinister. This debate introduces a theme that runs throughout The Master and Margarita: a cosmos in which good and evil each have their jurisdiction, but work together to ensure that people get the rewards or punishments that they deserve. In a famous passage later in the novel, Woland provides the following cogent description:  “You pronounced your words as if you refuse to acknowledge the existence of either shadows or evil. But would you kindly ponder this question: What would your good do if evil didn't exist, and what would the earth look like if all the shadows disappeared? After all, shadows are cast by things and people. Here is the shadow of my sword. But shadows also come from trees and from living beings. Do you want to strip the earth of all trees and living things just because of your fantasy of enjoying naked light? You're stupid."

Throughout The Master and Margarita, Woland metes out justice to wrongdoers. However, he does not simply punish -- instead, he also rewards Margarita for her devotion, intelligence, loyalty, and bravery. He rescues the Master from his exile in the asylum and ultimately grants him and Margarita a destiny of peace and rest together. In doing so, Woland overturns our expectations. Bulgakov describes a world where good and evil powers work together to provide some justice and balance in our lives, in spite of the thoughtless and cruel ways that humans behave. As Woland tells Margarita at one point, “Everything will be made right, that is what the world is built on.” The true evil in The Master and Margarita does not rise from Hell, but instead comes from the pettiness and greed of flawed, small-minded humans. The Master makes his appearance relatively late in the novel, in chapter 13, “Enter the Hero.” However, he is not the traditional hero. He is a broken man, living in an asylum, remembering his love for Margarita, while at the same time turning his back on the art that Margarita loved, protected, and honored: his novel about Pontius Pilate.

In a lengthy conversation with Ivan, the Master paints an idyllic portrait of his life with Margarita, who creates a cozy sanctuary full of roses and love, in which the written word is treasured and respected:  “Running her slender fingers and pointed nails through her hair, she endlessly reread what he had written, and then she sewed the very cap he had shown Ivan. Sometimes she would squat down next to the lower shelves or stand up on a chair next to the upper ones and dust the hundreds of books. She predicted fame, urged him on, and started calling him Master. She waited eagerly for the promised final words about the fifth procurator of Judea, recited the parts she especially liked in a loud sing-song voice, and said that the novel was her life.”

However this idyll comes to a crashing end when the Master completes the manuscript and looks for a publisher. He provides harrowing descriptions of his brutal treatment by the literary world in Moscow, as editors, publishers, and fellow writers publicly criticized him for his novel. These descriptions bear the pain of Bulgakov’s personal experience with censorship and rejection, culminating in the Master’s paralyzing fear of everything around him. Finally, in a scene inspired by events in Bulgakov’s life, the Master attempts to destroy his manuscript. Although Margarita salvages some pages, this scene marks the end of her life with the Master, who turns his back on Margarita and his art. He describes himself as a man without a name or a future, marking time in the asylum. Bulgakov depicts the Master as a broken man, whose loss of spirit and cowardice in the face of adversity led him to lose everything of value in his life.

Margarita poses a stark contrast to the Master. When we finally meet her in part two, she is grieving over losing the Master, but she also shows herself to be intelligent, energetic, and fearless in her determination to find him and rebuild their life together. In doing so, Margarita is not taking an easy path. She is married to a successful husband who adores her. The two live in a large apartment with a great deal of privacy, a true luxury in Stalinist Moscow. She is beautiful, but she cannot put behind her deep dissatisfaction with her life, apparently perfect on the surface, but with no depth. She is living a lie. Her despair starts to break when she has a dream about the Master, which she views as a portent that her torment will soon come to an end. After rushing from her home, she has a fateful conversation with Azazello, whom Woland has tasked with inviting her to officiate as his queen at his ball. Margarita handles the interaction with spirit and courage, agreeing to follow Azazello’s mysterious instructions in hopes of learning the Master’s fate.

Margarita is transformed and embarks on a night ride, flying naked on a broomstick over Moscow. After wreaking havoc at the apartment of a publisher who had tormented the Master, and comforting a small boy who awakened, terrified by the destruction, she participates in a moonlight gathering of other magical creatures. Afterwards, she returns to Moscow in a magical car, “After all that evening's marvels and enchantments, she had already guessed who they were taking her to visit, but that didn't frighten her. The hope that there she would succeed in regaining her happiness made her fearless.” The night ride is a symbol of Margarita’s freedom and power. Her fearlessness propels Margarita through her meeting with Woland and his minions, and a surreal evening as the queen of Woland’s midnight ball. Her devotion is rewarded by Woland, in scenes full of magic and moonlight. Although the Master crumbles in the face of adversity, Margarita becomes the ultimate hero and savior through her courage and commitment to the Master and his art.

Throughout The Master and Margarita, Bulgakov uses key symbols to tie together the different chapters and storylines. Perhaps the most important symbol is the moon, which appears frequently in practically every chapter. The moon conveys a kind of otherworldly truth. Characters are bathed in moonlight at critical points in the novel, especially when making entrances, as when the Master first appears in Ivan’s hospital room. Moonlight imparts insight and truth even to the most delusional of characters. The moon lights the night rides of Woland, his companions, Margarita and the Master.

The moonlight also features prominently in the Pilate chapters, serving as a lynchpin between them and the rest of the novel. Pilate looks up at the moon for solace in the face of his agony from his migraines and his cowardice, with his faithful dog Banga as his sole companion. Bulgakov uses the moon to illuminate Pilate’s torment and his final peace, granted to him by the Master, his creator: "[Pilate] has been sitting here for about two thousand years, sleeping, but, when the moon is full, he is tormented, as you see, by insomnia. And it torments not only him, but his faithful guardian, the dog. If it is true that cowardice is the most grave vice, then the dog, at least, is not guilty of it. The only thing that brave creature ever feared was thunderstorms. But what can be done, the one who loves must share the fate of the one he loves."

In response to Woland’s prompting, the Master stands and shouts the words that complete his novel, and end Pilate’s torture:

“The path of moonlight long awaited by the procurator led right up to the garden, and the dog with the pointed ears was the first to rush out on it. The man in the white cloak with the blood-red lining got up from his chair and shouted something in a hoarse, broken voice. It was impossible to make out whether he was laughing or crying, or what he was shouting, but he could be seen running down the path of moonlight, after his faithful guardian.”

Bulgakov follows this transformative scene with Woland’s gift of peace to the Master. As she did throughout the novel, Margarita remains by the Master’s side, his loyal companion through eternity. Bulgakov cannot give salvation to the Master, perhaps because of the enormity of his cowardice against art, perhaps because he has been so damaged by a hostile society. In these final passages, Margarita gives the Master, and the reader, a soothing picture of a peaceful life, perhaps one Bulgakov himself longed for: "Listen to the silence," Margarita was saying to the Master, the sand crunching under her bare feet. "Listen and take pleasure in what you were not given in life—quiet. Look, there up ahead is your eternal home, which you've been given as a reward. I can see the Venetian window and the grape-vine curling up to the roof. There is your home, your eternal home. I know that in the evenings people you like will come to see you, people who interest you and who will not upset you. They will play for you, sing for you, and you will see how the room looks in candlelight. You will fall asleep with your grimy eternal cap on your head, you will fall asleep with a smile on your lips. Sleep will strengthen you, you will begin to reason wisely. And you will never be able to chase me away. I will guard your sleep."

Speaking of evil read this one:

Lumber Liquidators Holdings Inc. (Lumber Liquidators) has agreed to pay a total penalty of $33 million for filing a materially false and misleading statement to investors regarding the sale of its laminate flooring from China to its customers in the United States.

Lumber Liquidators, a public corporation headquartered in Toano, Virginia, and one of the largest retailers of flooring products in the United States, entered into a deferred prosecution agreement (DPA) in connection with a criminal information filed today in the Eastern District of Virginia charging the company with securities fraud.  The case was primarily focused on the fact that Lumber Liquidators knowingly filed a false and misleading statement to investors broadly denying the allegations featured in a March 2015 episode of 60 Minutes, and affirming that the company complied with California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations.

Assistant Attorney General Brian A. Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney G. Zachary Terwilliger of the Eastern District of Virginia, Special Agent in Charge David W. Archey of the FBI’s Richmond Field Office, Special Agent in Charge Kelly R. Jackson of IRS-Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) Washington, D.C. Field Office and Inspector in Charge Peter R. Rendina of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service Washington Division, made the announcement.

“Lumber Liquidators lied to investors and to the public about its compliance with formaldehyde regulations for the flooring it sold – all to protect its stock price,” said Assistant Attorney General Benczkowski.  “False and misleading financial reports undermine the integrity of our securities markets and harm investors.  The Department and our law enforcement partners are committed to doing everything we can to ensure that those who commit securities fraud are held accountable.”

“This resolution holds Lumber Liquidators accountable for misleading the investing public,” said U.S. Attorney Terwilliger.  “It also recognizes that the company has cooperated with the government's investigation, completely replaced its senior executive team, and installed experienced executives who have displayed a commitment to building an ethical corporate culture.  We will continue to ensure that market participants can trust information communicated by public companies when making investment decisions.  My thanks to our prosecutorial team and our investigative partners for their outstanding work on this case.”

“This penalty should serve as a warning to other corporations who seek to mislead investors,” said FBI Special Agent in Charge Archey.  “FBI Richmond is grateful for the commitment to this case of its partners at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the Justice Department’s Fraud Section, the IRS Criminal Investigation and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.”

“Lumber Liquidators knowingly deceived the shareholders they were entrusted to serve,” said IRS-CI Special Agent in Charge Jackson.  “IRS-CI will continue to work diligently with our federal law enforcement partners to ensure that the punishment for such crimes matches the seriousness of the offense.”

“Those seeking to maximize profits while misleading investors should expect to pay a heavy price,” said U.S. Postal Inspector in Charge Rendina.  “The U.S. Postal Inspection Service has investigated these kind of deceptive practices for years to protect investors and the integrity of the market place.  Postal Inspectors work tirelessly to identify and hold accountable any company who uses the U.S. mail to defraud American citizens.”

According to court documents filed as part of the DPA, Lumber Liquidators was subject to various laws that regulated the chemicals used in wood products, including laminate flooring.  Specifically, CARB enforced limits on formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products.  In September 2013, CARB announced that it intended to use deconstructive testing to determine whether finished flooring products contained CARB compliant cores.  In 2013 and 2014, CARB informed Lumber Liquidators that flooring samples collected from its California stores failed deconstructive testing for formaldehyde emissions.  Lumber Liquidators’ own deconstructive tests of the same products yielded similar results.

Also in 2014, foreign and domestic flooring suppliers alerted Lumber Liquidators of CARB compliance concerns related to the company’s Chinese laminate products.  In February 2014, Lumber Liquidators’ Chinese laminate suppliers requested a price increase citing concerns about the increased cost of CARB compliant cores and their ability to pass deconstructive testing for formaldehyde emissions.  Approximately one month later, a U.S. laminate supplier informed Lumber Liquidators that it tested a Chinese laminate sample purchased from one of Lumber Liquidators’ stores in the United States and that the sample emitted high levels of formaldehyde.  Lumber Liquidators took only limited steps to determine the validity of the suppliers’ concerns, and instead sought to generate support for its position that deconstructive testing was not a valid test method, the company admitted.

To that end, Lumber Liquidators visited two Chinese laminate suppliers in August 2014 to collect and test samples.  While collecting samples from Supplier A, a then-Lumber Liquidators employee noticed a pallet of laminate flooring that factory workers indicated was Lumber Liquidators’ product, but the label on the pallet indicated that it contained non-CARB compliant cores.  The former employee took samples from this suspect pallet for testing along with other samples manufactured in his and other employees’ presence.  Laboratory A later provided Lumber Liquidators with test results that undermined the company’s criticisms of deconstructive testing.  All but one of the products manufactured in front of the Lumber Liquidators employees passed deconstructive testing.  But the samples from the suspect pallet, manufactured before employees arrived, failed deconstructive testing.

Lumber Liquidators representatives again visited Supplier A in September 2014 and January 2015.  Following these visits, Lumber Liquidators concluded that Supplier A had numerous recordkeeping anomalies, refused to implement CARB-related corrective action requests made by the company, and could not reliably demonstrate that its laminate flooring contained CARB compliant cores.  Accordingly, in January 2015, the company’s former senior management team decided to discontinue its relationship with Supplier A due to CARB compliance concerns.  Nevertheless, that same day, Lumber Liquidators admitted it ordered more laminate flooring from Supplier A.

In Fall 2014, Lumber Liquidators learned that the CBS news program, 60 Minutes, also retained Laboratory A to conduct deconstructive testing of Lumber Liquidators’ products.  Shortly thereafter, Laboratory A secretly notified Lumber Liquidators that the deconstructive tests commissioned by 60 Minutes yielded significant test failures.  The lab then allowed a former Lumber Liquidators employee to review and take pictures of these test results.  In December 2014, the lab owner told former Lumber Liquidators employees that a high deconstructive test failure was a strong indicator that the product was not CARB compliant, the company admitted.

On Feb. 25, 2015, Lumber Liquidators learned that 60 Minutes obtained undercover videos from three of its Chinese laminate suppliers, including Supplier A, in which the suppliers admitted that the laminates they made for Lumber Liquidators were not CARB compliant.  Lumber Liquidators’ former senior management team retained outside counsel from Law Firm B to interview the suppliers in the undercover videos.  On Feb. 28, 2015, Law Firm B informed former Lumber Liquidators executives that it recorded one person from each of the three factories in the undercover videos saying that the product they sold Lumber Liquidators was CARB compliant.  Nevertheless, Law Firm B told these former executives that they had limited confidence in the suppliers’ statements because, among other things, a former Lumber Liquidators inspector alleged that suppliers offered bribes to him and other company employees, the company admitted.

On March 1, 2015, 60 Minutes aired a segment alleging that laminate flooring sold by Lumber Liquidators in the United States did not meet CARB emission standards for formaldehyde.  The episode featured the undercover videos and test results previously shown to Lumber Liquidators.

The next morning, March 2, 2015, the New York Stock Exchange halted trading of the company’s stock, with the expectation that Lumber Liquidators intended to issue a statement responding to the 60 Minutes episode.  Later that morning, Lumber Liquidators, through its employees, knowingly filed a false and misleading Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Form 8-K broadly denying the allegations in the 60 Minutes episode and affirming Lumber Liquidators complied with CARB regulations, the company admitted.  Specifically, Lumber Liquidators omitted material facts from investors, including CARB’s investigation of the company’s Chinese laminate products; its own deconstructive test results; the company’s decision to discontinue sourcing from Supplier A due to CARB compliance concerns; and evidence that undermined the suppliers’ statements that all products provided to Lumber Liquidators were CARB compliant.

Pursuant to its agreement with the Department of Justice, Lumber Liquidators agreed to pay a total criminal penalty of $33 million to the United States, including a criminal fine of approximately $19 million, and approximately $14 million in forfeiture.  This amount represents the company’s net profits from the sale of 100 percent of its Chinese laminate from approximately Jan. 16, 2015 through May 7, 2015.

Lumber Liquidators also agreed to implement rigorous internal controls and cooperate fully with the Department’s ongoing investigation, including its investigation of individuals.  Under the DPA, prosecution of the company for securities fraud will be deferred for an initial period of three years to allow Lumber Liquidators to demonstrate good conduct.

The SEC announced a separate settlement with Lumber Liquidators in connection with related, parallel proceedings.  Under the terms of its resolution with the SEC, Lumber Liquidators agreed to a total of $6,097,298.42 in disgorgement of profits and prejudgment interest.  The Department of Justice agreed to credit the amount paid to the SEC in disgorgement as part of its agreement.  Thus, the combined total amount of criminal and regulatory penalties paid by Lumber Liquidators will be $33 million.

This penalty reflects the nature and seriousness of the conduct, as well as Lumber Liquidators’ ongoing cooperation with the United States and the company’s extensive efforts at remediation.  Among other remedial efforts, Lumber Liquidators suspended the sale of all laminate flooring from China in May 2015; offered consumers in-home testing for already installed flooring; and implemented new policies and procedures regarding compliance with CARB emission standards and other environmental regulations, sourcing of flooring products, financial reporting and internal controls.  The employees involved in wrongdoing either were terminated or resigned from Lumber Liquidators, and the company replaced its executive management team with experienced executives who have displayed a commitment to building an ethical corporate culture.

Trial Attorney Cory E. Jacobs of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Katherine Lee Martin and Uzo E. Asonye of the Eastern District of Virginia prosecuted the case.

The Criminal Division’s Fraud Section plays a pivotal role in the Department of Justice’s fight against white collar crime around the country.

It's always encouraging to hear from Black-misogynists.

I'd hate to think the lard-ass Whites are having all the fun.

Why Iraq Is Ripe for Conflict with Israel

Israel has a strong military motive to strike such sites.

There's plenty of speculation as to who was behind four explosions at Iran-linked sites in Iraq, but no definitive proof. Authorities have yet to conclude that the explosions were all even intentional, but the evidence suggests that either sabotage or airstrikes were involved — and if so, Israel stands at the top of the list of potential culprits. That is leading to suspicions that Israel might be on the verge of expanding its anti-Iran campaign from Syria to Iraq as part of its regional strategy to check the threat of the Islamic republic. But if Israel is considering bringing the fight closer to Iran by expanding its campaign into Iraq, it could find the country far more combustible than even Syria — a quality that would have grave implications for its stalwart American ally and regional peace as a whole.

A Case of Whodunit

But first, the incidents in question. An explosion occurred at a Population Mobilization Unit (PMU) base near Amerli in Salahuddin province north of Baghdad on July 19; some local sources blamed the United States and Israel for the incident. Several days later, reports emerged of explosions occurring at another PMU base at Camp Ashraf nearer to the Iranian border. Then, on Aug. 12, a detonation rocked a PMU-linked ammunition depot south of Baghdad near al-Saqr military base. Most recently, on Aug. 20, explosions struck an arms storage facility near Iraq's Balad Air Base, 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of Baghdad, at sites associated with the PMU. Subsequent satellite photos have indicated that each of these locations suffered significant damage, while some evidence has suggested airstrikes might have caused the destruction. The Iraqi government itself has hesitated in assigning blame, although it said a drone strike caused the Aug. 12 explosion, prompting Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi to threaten to shoot down any plane or aerial vehicle that attempts to conduct another attack.

If the evidence proves that the explosions were not accidental, eyes are likely to turn to Israel, in large part because it has a motive, means and opportunity to conduct such operations. Each of the sites has been linked to Iranian ballistic missiles or rockets — whose buildup in Iraq was first reported by Reuters in August 2018. The Aug. 12 incident, for instance, occurred at a stockpile linked to the Sayyid al-Shuhada (League of the Martyrs) militia, closely linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Iraq's Iran-allied Badr Organization.

Israel has a strong military motive to strike such sites. Iran is trying to shift some of its assets to Iraq after repeated Israeli strikes against its equipment in Syria. Iran, which is seeking to increase its influence in Iraq, wants to establish a new front to deter Israeli attacks against its assets. Israel, in turn, has reason to take aggressive action to prevent such a buildup from creating a credible deterrence in a new theater separate from the Lebanese front against Hezbollah.

In addition to the military incentives, Israel has a political motive for staging the strikes: Likud, the country's ruling party, is playing up Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's warnings from September 2018 that Israel would take action in Iraq as part of his bid to win nationalist votes in the Sept. 17 elections. That contest will be narrow, and for Likud, every vote will count.

Israel also has the means to stage such strikes. Its intelligence apparatus would be capable of sighting targets or conducting on-the-ground sabotage. The Israeli air force also boasts cutting-edge technology, which it has demonstrated in strikes in Syria against Iranian forces.

Finally, the Israelis have the opportunity. The Israelis fly the same aircraft as their U.S. ally, making it harder to track strikes back to Israel directly. This is especially helpful to the Israelis given that the Americans remain active over Iraq in continuing operations against Islamic State remnants. Even if the Iraqis could identify the aircraft as hostile Israeli jets amid the thicket of similar U.S. aircraft, they lack air defenses or an air force capable of stopping many of them — a marked contrast to Syria, where Russian air defenses hamper Israeli operations. Finally, to add to the opportunity, the Iranian buildup in Iraq is still in its early stages: by striking it as it forms, Israel has more chance of hurting Tehran now than it would if it waited until the Iranian presence was firmly established.

A Regional Can of Worms

If Israel intends to expand its anti-Iran operations to Iraq, there will be substantial ramifications for Iraq, the United States, Iran and Israel itself. For the Iraqis, Israel's move to bring the fight to its soil will stir up internal political problems that affect Baghdad's foreign relationships, particularly as most Iraqis are loath to see their country become even more of a proxy battleground among Iran, Israel and the United States.

In such a scenario, Iraqis of differing political stripes — including nationalists like Muqtada al-Sadr to pro-Iranian actors like Hadi al-Ameri of the Badr Brigade to anti-Iranian demonstrators and politicians, like the anti-Tehran elements of the Basra protest movement and Sunni political parties — will unite to pressure Abdul-Mahdi to prevent such violations of national sovereignty.

That pressure, of course, will compound the turmoil in the Iraqi political system, creating diplomatic problems for Baghdad with the two capitals it cannot afford to alienate: Washington and Tehran. Some will seek to penalize the United States, since Iraq cannot directly retaliate against Israel itself. That would complicate America's security relationship with Baghdad and expose U.S. assets in Iraq to retaliation. Such a violent response could come from the PMUs that are targeted in drone or airstrikes, Iranian forces in Iraq or otherwise non-political Iraqi protesters. As a result, U.S.-linked companies and assets could face the ire of anti-U.S. and anti-Israel forces inside Iraq.

And while the United States is an obvious target for pro-Iranian forces in Iraq, so too are other countries that are growing closer to Israel, like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. In June, Iraqi demonstrators attacked the Bahrani Embassy in Baghdad after Manama's foreign minister publicly floated the idea of normalizing relations with Israel, and other embassies and assets linked to these states could also become targets. Such anger could also scuttle projects like Saudi Arabia's construction of a massive new stadium in Iraq.

If the Local Tide Turns on Iran

Other factions, however, would blame Iran and pressure Baghdad over its relationship with Tehran. Already, Iranian-backed PMUs are irking more nationalist, Sunni and anti-Iran factions. Despite repeated attempts to bring the PMUs into the Iraqi security fold, the forces continue to resist Baghdad's control, including defiance by most groups of an Aug. 1 order to standardize rules of engagement — upsetting many Iraqis who are wary of their power. Some citizens would likely blame the units' coziness with Iran and its refusal to fully integrate into the Iraqi army as the reason for any Israeli attack. That would subsequently fuel intra-Iraqi tensions, threatening Baghdad's ability to conduct operations against the many militant groups (including the Islamic State) that remain in Iraq, in addition to hurting the relationship with Iran.

If Israeli forces were to begin a sustained campaign against Iraqi-based Iranian assets, it would create problems for the Islamic republic beyond the mere loss of proxies and materiel in its western neighbor. For one, it would seriously strain the credibility of Iran's regional strategy to use proxies other than Hezbollah to deter Israel. That, consequently, would have domestic ramifications at home: the expeditionary wing of the IRGC, the Quds Force, would face challenges if it fails to produce results against Israel it has promised.

And then there's the prospect of a greater conflagration with the United States that Iran must worry about. Should Iraqi anger against Israel rise sufficiently to inspire attacks on U.S. forces or assets, U.S. retaliation may even drag Iran into a proxy conflict that could culminate in a wider U.S.-Iranian war. Since Iran does not exert total control over all its Iraqi proxies (many of which follow their own domestic agendas), this presents a potent risk going ahead, especially if Israeli strikes kill large numbers of Iraqi civilians or hit particularly sensitive targets belonging to the PMUs. Even in the absence of a regional war, there is a distinct possibility that Iran could find itself in a high-stakes proxy conflict with Israel in Iraq.

What It Would Mean for Israel

Finally, for Israel, the successful expansion of its front to Iraq would embolden its anti-Iran strategy — especially as it enjoys the firm backing of the current White House. The country may be encouraged to consider more assertive action against Iran beyond Iraq; one option includes intelligence operations in Yemen, where the Houthis are becoming more integral to Iran's regional strategy (as evidenced most recently by a Houthi donation to increasingly cash-strapped Hezbollah and a high-profile visit to Iran by the rebel group's leaders). Israel is concerned about Yemen out of fear that the Houthis could target Israeli shipping passing through the Bab el-Mandeb, the waterway between Yemen and Djibouti. Closer Houthi-Iranian connections, as well as a desire to build relations with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, which oppose the Houthis, have also encouraged Israel to expand its intelligence sharing in Yemen with the Saudi-led coalition.

Nevertheless, any Israeli action in Iraq comes with high risk given the possibility that it could ignite a regional war. Killing a high-value target, causing large numbers of civilian casualties or simply fomenting a high degree of local anger against itself or the United States are all factors that could lead to attacks against U.S. forces or assets, destabilizing Iraq and potentially causing Washington to respond in a way that drags the region into war. Israel has managed to carry out much of its anti-Iran strategy in Syria without causing that major conflagration, but if it is to launch a similar campaign in Iraq, it will likely encounter many new, uniquely Iraqi, hazards.

Editor's Note: After this assessment was published, reports in The New York Times and Associated Press quoted anonymous U.S. government sources as confirming that Israel was behind strikes targeting Iranian-linked assets in Iraq.
