According to very reliable secret sources, there have been alot of things going on since Part 2 was posted. Out of everything posted in these series, one of the most vile and evil things taking place involves covert opts being implemented against a blackman from North Carolina, who presently resides with his wife at the: Melody Motel (570) 829-1279, located at: 26 Litchey Drive, in Wilkes Barre/Plains, Pennsylvania. Many people within the town of Wilkes Barre have been driving to the motel just to sit around and watch the activity taking place. They also sit and listen to the loud voices of the drug addict house keepers and their mates, who talks about everything. The Melody Motel has been a haven for drug activity but the blackman and his wife are drug free. They just had a bit of a bad time and has to rely on a motel until things get better. caucasian police don't see it this way though. They think that blackmen are always engaged in something illegal. This is why they rely on Pennsylvania's "Nuissance Law."The ionterracial couple at the Melody motel has been undergoing covert opts against them that seem military in nature. According to several bus drivers and riders, who have friends and relatives workingn in restricted areas, police will rely on camera surveillance from city buses the interracial couple rides and will alert townships nearby, should they travel that far.  Certain police officers within that township will make themselves visible when the couple gets off the bus. Keep in mind that neither of them committed any crime. They are after the blackman because they accuse him of using the internet to raise awareness about white supremacists, white supremacist cops, and racist and corrupt people within every place of business.

The Melody Motel owner, an East Indian who goes by the name Tom, who drives a 2010 Subaru, with Pennsylvania license plates: JRX-2478, is one of the most sneaky and devious people anyone has encountered. He instructes his drug addicted house keepers to walk past rooms and listen inside. They don't hear anything coming from the blackman from North Carolina's room and will just make things up. The East Indian, Tom, will sometimes walk past rooms and stand right in front of the windows. Once he has been there for about 10 minutes, he'll either make a phone call or will get in his vehicle and meet with someone. The East Indian motel owner has alot to be worried about, according to some of the pictures coming from the Melody Motel. The place is a dump and the plumbing is terrible. Water just sits inside sinks and water comes up from the bottem of the toilets. The place is infested with bugs and the only thing the drug addicts care about is a place to get high. Each room has a horrifying stench coming from it as well. The blackman from North Carolina and his wife has informed the owner of the many problems but everyone keeps telling them that the East Indians are evil, and even though the problem was there before they moved into the motel 2 1/2 weeks ago, East Indians have a way of communicating with parties from behind closed doors, making sure that those parties never speak with the victims. This is how they get away with lies! One fellow who recently moved out of the Melody Motel showed pictures of his room. Its a shame that Plains police refuse to help Americans being dehumanized by East Indian Motel owners.  And there is alot of secret pacts taking place behind closed dorrs between the East Indians and certain police officers.

If racist cops like hunting down blackmen, they're only way of making his presence known continously is by getting civilians to make up lies on the blackman just so they can slither their way into the blackman's area. Only one city withinn the U.S. is seeking to prosecute all those racists that dial 911 on black people just minding their own business. They usually have to lie on the blacks just for police to get involved, but within Wilkes Barre, Plains, and Scranton, very little effort is needed to start the hunt on black people! In fact, within the township of Plains, if a blackman is seen on the streets people will call police. One investigator who has access to police calls just revealed this. White supremacists and white power freaks will stop at nothing to keep others beneath them. No matter how much people of color petition for equal protection, equal rights, et cetera, these folks are power struck and will never look to others being as equals. There are gangs within police departments and yet those same police target gangs involving people of color. Like at the Melody Motel, the blackman being targeted there is the only black person on the premises. It was revealed that a black woman is at the motel as well, but there are black people proud to be black, and then there are those who turn against their own behind closed doors just to recieve some sort of reward or special gift, or just don't want to be targeted. On April 22, 2019, one of the drug addicted house keepers informed the interracial couple that during the week of May 1st, they will be given a jailhouse shakedown. They are willing to shakedown everyone's room at the motel jst to get inside the blackman's room. He4 has nothing to hide, and he doesn't do drugs, but from the lies East Indian Tom must have been claiming, its all set up. Black cops will ask blackmen who are being lied on by East Indian motel owners to explain their side to an alleged lie. Caucasian cops will just except the fabricated testimony of the East Indian and they all will plot against the blackman or woman.

How can a Socialist/Communist East indian come to America, and start conspiracies against black people while caucasian cops back them up? One3 Hindu Student claims this happens because when they come through Customs, officers tell them not to trust black people. They say all black people are lazy and is liars. But the racism between East indian and black people goes way back. White supremacists are well connected because they are being trained and taught by white supremacist military parties and police. There are even photos of federal agents reporting things to white supremacist cops. The feds instruct the cops to make sure that if one is being targeted, be ceratin that everyone within his/her area either dislike them, is confused about them, or don't care what happens to them should something happen. Guests at the Melody Motel has revealed that motel owners would wait until certain Guests are gone and would ask questions about who gets along with who, or who is saying what about who. This is why cops conmsider East Indians vital because they can get really really dirty. And they will use their rank of being a motel owner against someone staying within their motel. Most people are afraid to tell the truth about them because they will conspire in a way that most Americans are unfamiliar. When an East Indian complains behind the scenes, they make sure that those they are lying to or with will never question those being lied on! Like we stated in Part 2, black people are being hunted by white supremacist cops and by white supremacists in general. They are afraid to defend themselves because white supremacist cops will get involved, and so will white supremacist Lawyers, District or Communwealth Attorneys, and Judges. Its all masonic! But eventaully, black people are going to have to make a stand by the hundreds of thousands because you are being mass incarcerated and killed. The hunt before the set up or the kill is a game to white supremacists and white power freaks.

This is why when someone reveal how corrupt and evil a motel is, people within the city will start to inquire. The motel owner will then pick and chose one of his most faithful lioars to make a mysterious trip. They will lie according to what was instructed for them to do and the motel will never be ins[pected. There are hundreds of Code Violations at the Melody Motel, because a friend in Philadelphia came up and took photos.  She believes that money is exchanging hands between the East Indians and those running the township of Plains, Pennsylvania. The East Indian name Tom, will think the blackman from North Carolina posted this and will set a secret attack. But nothing will ever support his lies. No surveillance nor listening devices. This is why they have to get many people to say the same things against those being targeted. The Pennsylvania Nuissance Law is a nuissance in itself because it allows police and others to ask neighbors or peers things about you before they strike! White supremacists and white power freaks is responsible for hundreds of thousands of blacks lives being turned upside down. But Pennsylvania will never come with criminal charges against those who target black people just minding their own business by dialing 911 for the thrill of it. The cops won't allow that to happen because they make their bonuses off of black people. Many people in Wilkes Barre who know about the Melody Motel swears that when they stayed at the motel, when they used thweir cell phones, they phone accounts were hacked into. They never gave out theior numbers nor did they supply anyone with vital information about their accounts. Their accounts were hacked by parties with police and military grade technology.

The black people just don't know that when they supply newer technology to street cops, which was developed over 20 years ago, its all being used against blacks and latinos. They fear latinos moreso than blacks because they'll keep coming and coming. Blacks get scared and will give up the goods on their own motherjust to be in good graces with white supremacists. Many blacks in Wilkes Barre claim that black people have been shot to death in the past because caucasian cops told one person something about another. The cops will be above the law as long as Donald Trump is President. And trust us, they are takling full advantage. Freemasons control white supremacists because they are all part of the same tree! This is why racism will never end! Its deeply enrooted within the fabric of the American Constitution. This is why there are countless caucasians in Wilkes barre flying Confederate flags. Some, like on Scott street in Wilkes barre, has the flags up in their front room windows like curtains. They have tooken oaths to see to it that people of color kepp their populations at a minimum. The new tattoos cops have are images of Skulls holding a gun. The gun has smoke coming from its barrel. The more smoke attached to the previous smoke shows how many people of color whjo have been murdered. Then there are those who chose not to have tattoos. They are the ones that slide through the cracks and fool everyone. Freemasonry is behind it all. Lets just go back a bit. Albert Pike (1809-1891) was the Sovereign Grand Commander of the Scottish Rite's Southern Jurisdiction for almost 50 years. He was also a founder of the KKK. In a letter to fellow Satanist Giuseppe Mazzini, dated August 15, 1871, he predicted there will be three world wars contrived to bring about Masonic Jewish banker world government.  "The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" (agents) of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other."

The two sides in this conflagration are taking their places on stage.  Clearly, Iran and its allies Russia and China represent the Islamic world. The US, Israel and their allies are the "political Zionists."  At a conference on Iran in Warsaw, not long ago, Netanyahu tweeted that he is seeking "war with Iran." Vice President Mike Pence accused Iran of plotting "a new holocaust" designed to wipe Israel from the map. He urged EU to boycott Iran. Netanyahu tweeted Thursday that the US-Israel friendship is at "an all-time high." Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters that "Iran's proxies" in Yemen, Lebanon, Iran and Syria pose "the biggest threats in the Middle East." The US is in talks to send more troops to Poland.  For some, it's unclear as yet, which side the EU will be on. Venezuela might be a good indicator. Supporters of Guaido tend to be in the Zionist camp. This would include Canada, Australia and the EU. On the other hand, the EU is resisting US pressure to boycott Iran. How about the UK? Also in the Zionist camp. Recently, British War Minister, Gavin Williamson, made a gratuitously bellicose speech painting Russia as a mortal threat. "In NATO, we must stand firm against Russia's non-compliance with the INF [Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces] Treaty, if necessary being ready to deal with the threat that new Russian missile systems may pose. The alliance must develop its ability to handle the kind of provocations that Russia is throwing at us," Williamson said. And to add spice to the broth, we learned that the US has developed a missile-borne "mini" nuclear payload that would allow it. Pike's letter was revealed to the world by William Guy Carr in his 1958 book Pawns in the Game. Terry Melanson has tried to debunk this letter but in my view, the truth is never a hoax. The accuracy of Pike's predictions, even from 1958, speaks for itself:

"The First World War must be brought about in order to permit the Illuminati to overthrow the power of the Czars in Russia and of making that country a fortress of atheistic Communism. The divergences caused by the "agentur" (agents) of the Illuminati between the British and Germanic Empires will be used to foment this war. At the end of the war, Communism will be built and used in order to destroy the other governments and in order to weaken the religions."  "The Second World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences between the Fascists and the political Zionists. This war must be brought about so that Nazism is destroyed and that the political Zionism be strong enough to institute a sovereign state of Israel in Palestine. During the Second World War, International Communism must become strong enough in order to balance Christendom, which would be then restrained and held in check until the time when we would need it for the final social cataclysm." Readers who argue that the terms Nazism and Zionism were not known in 1871 should remember that the Illuminati invented both these movements. In addition, Communism as an ideology, and as a coined phrase, originates in France during the Revolution. In 1785, Restif coined the phrase four years before revolution broke out. Restif and Babeuf, in turn, were influenced by Rousseau - as was the most famous conspirator of them all, Adam Weishaupt. "The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World. The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other. Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion shall unleash the Nihilists and the atheists, and we shall provoke a formidable social cataclysm which in all its horror will show clearly to the nations the effect of absolute atheism, origin of savagery and of the most bloody turmoil. Then everywhere, the citizens, obliged to defend themselves against the world minority of revolutionaries, will exterminate those destroyers of civilization, and the multitude, disillusioned with Christianity, whose deistic spirits will from that moment be without compass or direction, anxious for an ideal, but without knowing where to render its adoration, will receive the true light through the universal manifestation of the pure doctrine of Lucifer, brought finally out in the public view. This manifestation will result from the general reactionary movement which will follow the destruction of Christianity and atheism, both conquered and exterminated at the same time."

The important point is that wars are always orchestrated. The Third World War will be orchestrated by agents of the Illuminati on both sides, as were the First and Second. Another important point is that Israel will be destroyed? I find this hard to believe. The Rothschilds are personally involved in building Israeli institutions like the Knesset and Supreme Court. Nevertheless, it is consistent with what insider Svali revealed 20 years ago. The good news is, why would they re-engineer us if the plan is to kill us all? Think of gender dysphoria and the migrant invasion as hopeful signs. We will be allowed to live, as slaves. Related - Is Trump Family Cult Behind Coming Armageddon? And while all of this is in play we must keep in mind that white supremacists will use newer technologies to crush all people of color. They have developed technology so fine tuned to where they don't have any use for black people. In the beginning, over 4.5 billion years ago, there was no life in the Solar System. And then, almost in the blink of an eye on the geologic time scale, everything changed. Deep in the primordial soup on Earth laid the organic compounds that would give rise to life’s humble origins. As we look at modern physics, we have found that everything we thought of as the physical world has been proven to be mostly empty space. It is all a bunch of solids, liquids, and gasses. There is also a huge collection of atoms and molecules moving differently. If we were to look at the universe as the creation of a type of singularity we would then have to believe that an advanced mind was able to arrange all of the scattered information and give it organization. The result is an arrangement of information that represents the atoms and the molecules and every little detail that science still has to discover. Science could not possibly know everything there is to know about how we came to be and how we are to become. In the Bible, we learn that God or whatever advanced beings were involved with creation needed light in order to create all things.

All light was the result of electromagnetic activity – a cosmic switch that was activated in order for the process to begin. If the electromagnetic theory holds validity then we can say that the “spirit” of God moved throughout creation. Today, scientists have tried to harness the power of creation on a grand scale. They are either slamming particles together to recreate the big bang – or they are creating simulated worlds in computers. These simulated worlds can be populated with characters of the programmer’s own creation. Within computer simulations, light is crucial. Computer graphics consist of pixels based on information — these pixels are “rendered” into the physical world that exists inside the computer. It is quite interesting that as man has created a universe in the computer, he has become godlike in a sense—because God created us from simple cells or bits of information and these bits of information have grown into thinking beings that are about to leap into what can be called, singularity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLQNBfI97Ck. Scientists are now rethinking their positions about consciousness and many are finding God again even though it has been the practice to steer away from anything that would be considered godlike. This may partly have sprung initially from not wanting to share the fate of scientists like Galileo whose research was suppressed by a dominant Catholic Church. Religious ideas take on a whole new meaning when viewed through the lens of science. We see that angels and demons become aliens, chariots of fire, the merkaba and wheels within wheels become space ships and ascension can be compared to being lifted to the heavens to have communication with advanced beings that some people claim are extraterrestrial gods that have been responsible for the advanced architecture of past civilizations. This is not some grand deception, it is just a modern reimaging of what God may be and that our whole existence is a wonderful simulation. Sir Isaac Newton discovered the spectrum of light as well as the laws of motion, gravity, and cooling; and also invented the reflecting telescope and jointly inventing calculus. However, he wrote more about the Bible than science and was a creationist. He contended that classical physics is at best just a model to explain how God upholds His creation. Newton’s laws explain how the world works in the physical realm in which we live. From the orbits of planets to measuring force, mass and acceleration Newton’s laws explain it all. Then, along came Albert Einstein to upset the physics apple cart with his general theory of relativity. The general theory explains how gravity curves space as illustrated by the bending of light photons as they pass near a massive star.

When his theory was actually verified experimentally it became obvious to many physicists that Newton’s Laws simply didn’t work on the macro level—like the size of the universe. For example, scientists must factor in general relativity in plotting satellite orbits if they have any intention actually putting an object in the proper orbit. If they were to depend on Newton, they would miss the proper orbit every time. Newton’s laws are now known to be simply approximations on every level. On the other hand, Quantum Mechanics explains the behaviors of atoms on the micro level. Newton’s laws don’t work on this level either. The energy of an atom was found to change only by a discrete quantity named a “quantum”. In other words, you can’t have half of a quantum. They either come whole or not at all. It should be obvious by now that the implications of quantum demand an encounter with human consciousness. Eugene Wigner declared: “It is not possible to formulate the laws of Quantum Mechanics in a fully consistent way without reference to the consciousness. Again, science needs to find its place with consciousness –because with it comes the answers that are buried deep in the mind of God. Despite continued research in the neurosciences, the complexity of the human brain is far from being understood. Could a genomic approach prove beneficial in unlocking the secrets of consciousness? If the search for the soul and the meaning of consciousness remain as tough as ever, the neurosciences and the molecular neuroscientists have not stood idle. With real-time dynamic imaging systems and with the help of exquisitely specific monoclonal antibodies, brain function, dysfunction, and degeneration have been and continue to be probed in great detail. It is hoped that such investigations will lead to tools for early diagnosis and effective interventions to slow or arrest disease progression – even if they do not lead us any closer to the soul. Optimists even suggest that perhaps cures of neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases might be possible. Over recent weeks, headlines in the popular press have highlighted the generation of useful model cellular culture systems for laboratory investigations of brain function. While the hype has referred to these aggregates of neurons as ‘brains-in-a dish’ or ‘mini-brains – we are still very far from being able to create systems that mimic brain function, but there is an objective to all of this that is hardly spoken of and that is the “organic singularity.”

Many of us have heard of the “Technological Singularity” predicted by Ray Kurzweil — the hypothetical future emergence of greater-than-human-intelligence based on computer systems. Kurzweil looked at the famous “Moore’s Law,” which predicts the ever-increasing power of computers based on ever-increasing chip density, and concluded such power inevitably would exceed that of the human brain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uIzS1uCOcE. Kurzweil, relied on a straightforward projection of improvements in computing and software technology and didn’t envision any radical transformation in computing techniques themselves. While others have argued that Kurzweil understated the technical challenges, especially regarding the software needed to replicate human cognition—even today we see systems and networks of systems that far exceed the communications powers of any single human being. Google is one example, not to mention the Internet itself. Although these systems don’t fulfill Kurzweil’s prediction, they certainly do demonstrate that many human intellectual abilities can be exceeded through technical means. We have discussed in the past that in order for us to preserve any type of cognitive spirit units able to activate a computer that exceeds our process of cognition we would have to replicate the 86 billion neurons that our nervous system sends to the brain, and each of these neurons contacts an average of 10,000 other neurons, representing a grand total of approximately 860 billion connections. This is why Kurzweil has said that this may take another 30 years to accomplish the task of transference of intelligence within systems both organic and non organic. If you consider just the number of neurons, we would reach a figure in the zetta domain (for your information, the order is kilo, mega, giga, tera, peta, exa and zetta, multiplying by 1,000 at each step. The emergence of greater-than-human-intelligence computers is a foregone conclusion, notwithstanding the fact that at this point we don’t understand what intelligence really entails, how the brain actually performs many functions, or if a software analogue of neural processing is possible. Alan Turing, a noted mathematical theorist, contended that an “intelligent” computer only needed to provide human-mimicking responses that didn’t actually have to be correct. Turing is the man who is well known for the famous Turing Test. It is the test that was used in the movie “Blade Runner” to trip up the cyborg replicants that needed to be terminated. We now assume that Kurzweil’s Technological Singularity is inevitable.

The conclusion that a greater-than-human silicon-based intelligence will occur, however, does not preclude other developments that may occur before that. In the past, we’ve seen favored technologies outpaced by newer technologies. However, there needs to be a consideration of the possibility that an organic-based singularity can happen far sooner than any technological one. The question is, are we ready to create organic beings that would mimic gods? A team at George Church’s Harvard lab wants to redesign species with large-scale DNA changes. Since its invention, CRISPR has let scientists introduce DNA changes at specific locations in a genome. Often these precise changes are made one at a time. A team at Harvard University says it has used the technique to make 13,200 genetic alterations to a single cell, a record for the gene-editing technology. The group, led by gene technologist George Church, wants to rewrite genomes at a far larger scale than has currently been possible, something it says could ultimately lead to the “radical redesign” of species—even humans. According to their paper, posted in March to the preprint website BioRxiv, the team was able to make over 13,000 changes at once in some cells without destroying them. With that in mind, it’s long overdue for us to consider how quickly we might achieve an “Organic Singularity,” a synthetic biological structure or creature that is more intelligent than a human being. There have been a few occasions in science fiction films where we have seen how this can be accomplished. One such film is the academy award winning film “Charly,” a film based on the story “Flowers for Algernon.” When I was in High School, the book Flowers for Algernon was pulled from the shelves of our library and we were told it was not an acceptable book because of some of the sexual themes that were in it. As an act of rebellion against the school district, I organized a performance of it as a school play. I cast myself in the role of Dr. Strauss. The teacher approved of the performance. He was later fired. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWZG--3BIzc.

Charly is a tragic story of what happens when we increase the intelligence of both animals and humans. Algernon is a laboratory mouse who has undergone surgery to increase his intelligence. Charlie Gordon is a character in the story that has an I.Q. of 68 who volunteers to go through the same procedure to help him increase his I.Q. The operation is a success, and within the next three months, Charlie’s IQ reaches 185. However, as his intelligence, education, and understanding of the world increase, his relationships with people deteriorate. His co-workers at the small job he has at a bakery, who used to amuse themselves at his expense, now fear and resent his increased intelligence and persuade his boss to fire him. It is also eveident that the Doctor’s who oversaw the operation were treating him like a laboratory rat and not a human being. The tragedy is that he regresses to his former self but can remember when he was a genius. Another film that takes this story into a more technical mixing of intelligence and computers is “Lawnmower Man” a horror story written by Stephen King. Once again we see that a scientist can enhance the intelligence of chimpanzees using drugs and virtual reality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzwPuJklv4w. Dr. Lawrence Angelo wishes to find a human subject that he can use to enhance their mental capabilities. He finds a greens keeper name Jobe Smith that has a developmental disorder. Learning more about Jobe, Angelo persuades him to participate in his experiments, letting him know it will make him smarter. Jobe agrees and begins the program. Dr. Angelo makes it a point to redesign all the intelligence-boosting treatments without the “aggression factors” used in the chimpanzee experiments. Jobe soon becomes smarter, for example, learning Latin in only two hours. Meanwhile, Jobe also begins a sexual relationship with a young rich widow, Marnie. However, Jobe begins to display telepathic abilities and has hallucinations. He continues training at the lab until an accident makes Dr. Angelo shut the program down. In a new series of experiments Jobe’s powers continue to grow, but the treatments are also affecting his mental stability, and he decides to exact revenge on those who abused him when he was “dumb”:

Jobe believes his final stage of evolution is to become “pure energy” in the labs VSI computer mainframe in a peculiar form of “singularity” and from there reach into all the systems of the world. He promises his “birth” will be signaled by every telephone on the planet ringing simultaneously. In the film, Lucy, starring Scarlett Johansen, a drug that is meant to enhance intelligence is released into the bloodstream of a drug mule named Lucy. Lucy becomes super intelligent. As a result, she begins acquiring increasingly enhanced physical and mental capabilities, such as telepathy, telekinesis, mental time travel, and the ability not to feel pain. Her personality also changes into a more ruthless and emotionless one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Vu081NOorA . It is amazing to watch the evolution of Lucy throughout the film – eventually like the Lawnmower Man, she becomes pure energy and becomes part of the electronic systems of the world – she shows up in a cell phone saying “I am everywhere” indicating that she has become part of a “singularity” becoming pure energy or a being of light. We realize in the film that we were all beings of light at one time, at the time of the “big bang.” As with the discovery and commercialization of recombinant human growth hormone, it’s not unreasonable to assume we could gain control over various neurological growth control mechanisms in the near term. Moreover, these growth controls could be augmented with mechanical controls. We might couple the use of a neurological growth factor with the removal of a section of the cranium to permit an expansion of the cortex. Even though vast gaps might remain in our understanding of how the cortex actually encodes information and processes stimuli, the innate plasticity of neural functions could enable an enlarged cortex to function in a coherent manner. Of course, the ethical implications are staggering, not to mention the scientific, commercial, or political implications. Even if we assume that any experiments that increase genetic and neurological capabilities are performed on animal rather than human subjects, we’d still be on a slippery slope. How do deal with a German shepherd whose intelligence has been enhanced by 25 percent? Can you imagine a chimpanzee that learns to speak and teach a class in physics? Doesn’t the dividing line between human beings and other creatures become irremediably blurred? Many people may have read “The Island of Dr. Moreau” and if you haven’t read the book, it has been interpreted at least 6 times in the movie theater. While the story focuses on human-animal experimentation, he also had views on what can only be described as forbidden experiments in creating a “plastic” controllable human being or animal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RAgnFAQ9s4.

H.G. Wells presented many of his ideas in the essay “The Limits of Individual Plasticity” and, eventually, the ideas were also found in the book, “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” where through vivisection that mad doctor was able to conduct experiments where animals were genetically altered to resemble humans. The unfortunate thing is the animals no matter how human they looked, still returned back to their beastly nature. Genetic tinkering and the science of genetic enhancement is now common and the guardians of morality are concerned about the science. American’s understanding of what is happening is limited to the notion of man playing God and the consequences that come from horror stories that have not only been written as fiction but have become a reality with the memory of Nazi sciences conducted by the likes of Josef Mengele. The temptation to engage in such research is compelling; the threat that another nation or commercial interest would beat us in an “intelligence race” may be considered as dangerous as the threat of the nuclear arms race. Kurzweil recognized that once a computer was developed that was smarter than a human being; it could be employed to create ever-smarter machines. The same result can occur with organic brains of both animals and humans, which may then improve upon themselves at an even faster rate.

wassik...how do you feel about this ?

“Whitewashing” can be understood as a process by which a group of persons, not previously considered racially white, become identified as white persons. As a part of this process, socially, culturally, economically and politically, they are granted access to the privileges, rights and responsibilities that come along with racial whiteness. For instance, parents and/or guardians of white male youth often have the privilege of not needing to teach their male youth how to navigate the dangers that could befall him simply by virtue of his skin color, attire and location. This is one unspoken privilege, of many, that come along with the social and cultural granting of whiteness. This process is significant because it essentially changes the societal position of an entire group of people. Jewish immigrants to the US underwent this process in the twentieth century (around the WWII/European Jewish Holocaust moment). The idea that cultural narratives compete against each other is not new. The logic is one that tries to “determine” which group’s historical story is “most traumatic” – the African American history of chattel slavery and racial discrimination or the European Jewish history of the Holocaust. This competition over who has the “most traumatic” cultural narrative happens for multiple reasons; a common reason is to claim that the other group doesn’t have “as legitimate” claims about current trauma and suffering. For instance, in contemporary African American reparations debates, some anti-reparations arguments have Credit: liftarn JTJ-Facilitator Guide | 44 ©2016 Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, Inc. claimed that more Jews died during the Holocaust than African Americans during Middle Passage (journey from the slave castles of West Africa to the Americas, with African slaves); and currently, American Jews, as a group, have achieved high levels of political and economic success. The logic assumes that since more Jews perished in the Holocaust (i.e. their story has been “worse”) and American Jews have been able to overcome these historical obstacles and achieve success, African Americans should be denied reparations in any form, “overcome historical obstacles” and achieve success. African American and American Jewish coalition-building during the twentieth century Civil Rights era in the US is historically significant. For a time, Jews fought alongside Black Americans during the Black rights struggle – they marched, participated in sit-ins and argued in support of Black social and political rights. For a moment, there was a historical time window in which this social and political alliance, for American Jews made sense. Black American and American Jewish living conditions were not dissimilar; this fact, aided by the strong Jewish moral vision, created historical conditions ripe for solidarity. This was the case in the 1950s, on into the 1960s. But by the 1970s, however, realities started to change and coalition began to break down. Although they had already started to assimilate, prior to this historical moment, American Jewish communities had not completely undergone the process of white suburbanization. By the 70s, this process was complete. And with the suburbanization of American Jews alongside white America, Jewish community assimilation into the “full” privilege of whiteness had reached its peak, effectively disallowing the existence of a relationship (between Black Americans and American Jews, as a cultural group) that existed prior. This moment represented the culmination of the process of “whitewashing.” The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is a lobbying group that advocates pro-Israel policy towards the legislative and executive branches of the US government; significantly, it is one of the most powerful political lobbying groups in Washington, DC. One of the most notable indicators that AIPAC is seeking to capitalize on both the historical Black/Jewish coalition and the historical experiences of Blacks in America is the lobby’s targeted campaign against hallmark Black institutions, specifically Black churches and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Note, these campaigns are not designed to necessarily harm Black institutions, but instead to use them as vehicles to further advance pro-Israel domestic and foreign policy. For instance, AIPAC has offered financial resources to Black clergy to “sponsor” congregational trips to the Holy Land and also to have them offer pro-Israel theological reflections in their local contexts. The logic behind this effort is very similar to that which undergirds AIPAC’s targeted HBCU campaign. The lobby seeks talented young Black college students—ideally from under-resourced backgrounds— brings them to DC (many selected students have never been outside of their own local contexts prior to this moment), exposes them to Capitol Hill, introduces them to high-ranking government officials, teaches them “US foreign policy” basics that are pro-Israel leaning, and sends them back to their respective home institution. Upon return to their campuses, these students are often passionate Israel student advocates. The hope is these students will continue to advocate, perhaps even develop into fervent politicians. The logic behind this effort is simple: Black Americans can serve as buffer between Israel and claims about Israel being an apartheid state. Black Americans can invoke their historical lineage of chattel slavery, racial discrimination, and apartheid, saying, “I know what discrimination, racism and apartheid look like. Israel is not doing those things.”

Did you see the movie Madagascar...if so what do you think of this review:

Alex, Marty, Melman and Gloria all live in the New York zoo, where they are good draws and get regular meals. However Marty dreams of the wild and freedom and, when a crack group of penquins seem to offer him a way out, he takes it. His friends find he is missing and set out to convince him to return, catching him at Grand Central Station, only to get caught by the police. With the people convinced that the animals cannot return to the zoo, the four are shipped out to the wild but a shipping accident sees them washed up in a wilderness that their city live has not prepared them for.

Looking a lot more cartoony than similar film, I decided to give Madagascar a miss until I saw the short film from the penguins and decided to give it a try. The plot is a worthy try to repeat the fun and heart of films such as Toy Story but, although it delivers the former, the latter is lacking. It tries to have some sort of moral by the end but it doesn't really come off and it would have been better not to try at all. However this is a minor problem because mostly it is very funny, producing some big laughs as well as being consistently funny. The biggest laughs come from the side characters such as the penguins, the lemurs and the two monkeys which is great but it means that the main characters are almost begrudgingly returned to the screen at times while the actual plot is where the sags come in.

This is a bit of a problem and again robs the material of its heart but I didn't really care that much because I was laughing consistently across the whole film. The star cast work well. Stiller was actually pretty good while both Rock and Schwimmer were really well-suited to their characters and the humour. Smith was more "there" than she was doing anything, but she was alright if unimpressive. However all four of them are put in the shade by the support cast a fact not helped that the support have the best material to work with. Cohen naturally steals the show with an outrageously funny performance that had me in stitches and he was well supported by an unusually restrained Cedric the Entertainer. The penguins also combined to produce a wonderful subplot to the film and their planning and scheming was hilarious; likewise, although in a smaller role, the posh monkey was very funny.

Overall this is a consistently funny film that survives despite the fact that the narrative and the four main characters are actually not its strengths while those looking for the heart of Toy Story will be disappointed. However it has more than enough laughs to be worthwhile and the supporting cast and characters are really where the film is at.

wassik...can you believe there are still rebels with this much hate in their bellies ?

The only thing new in the world is the history you don’t know. Almost everything that Americans in general and Republicans in particular think they know about Lincoln is a toxic mixture of myths, distortions and wicked lies.(1)

Founded in 1854, the Republican Party rose to prominence and power when its nominee, Abraham Lincoln, won the presidential election of 1860. To this day, many people regard it as the “Party of Lincoln” and historians and the general public have long considered Lincoln, next only to Washington, as America’s greatest president (see also "Rating the Presidents" by Pat Buchanan and "Down With the Presidency" by Lew Rockwell).

The first big lie, which is universally believed, is that Lincoln, dubbed the “Great Emancipator” by his cult of worshippers, went to war in order to free slaves. The abhorrence of racial injustice and the desire to abolish slavery played no role in the Union’s determination to strangle the Confederacy in its cradle. What did? One factor was Lincoln’s determination to preserve the Union at any cost – including the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. In 1862, Lincoln wrote to Horace Greeley (the leading Northern newspaperman of the day): “My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and it is not either to save or destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave, I would do it.”

Similarly, in 1861 Congress resolved that the purpose of the war was not “[to interfere] with the rights or established institutions of those states,” but to preserve the Union “with the rights of the several states unimpaired.” On the day that hostilities commenced at Fort Sumter (12 April 1861), only the seven states of the Deep South had seceded, there were more slaves within the Union than outside it and Lincoln hadn’t the slightest intention to free any of them. Alexis de Tocqueville’s observation in Democracy in America (1835-40) remained true: “The prejudice of race appears to be stronger in the states that have abolished slavery than in those where it still exists.”

Another factor that motivated war was the Republican Party’s lust (which, with few and brief exceptions, it has retained to the present day) to tax and spend. The North waged war against the South in order to regain the federal tax revenue that would be lost if the Southern states seceded peacefully.(2) Republicans were then, and remain today, a Party of Big Government. In Lincoln’s time, Republicans championed a high (i.e., protectionist) tariff. They used the proceeds – which were laundered through roads, canals, railways, etc. – to dispense lavish corporate welfare to their backers. To Republicans, the fact that tariffs, corporate welfare and the like favoured an anointed few (whose residences, factories, etc., were overwhelmingly in the North) and punished a benighted many (Southerners were mostly “outs” rather than “ins”) was inconsequential. What was essential, however, was that consumers, Southern as well as Northern, subsidise Republicans’ wealthy backers. Southerners’ unwillingness to subjugate themselves to Republicans ultimately drove them to secede.

In Lincoln’s view, only by keeping the Union intact – by force of arms if necessary – could Republicans’ lust to tax, dispense largesse and build an empire be sated. In his First Inaugural Address (4 March 1861), Lincoln threatened to invade any state that failed to collect federal “duties and imposts.” On 19 April, he rationalised his order to blockade Southern ports on the grounds that “the collection of the revenue cannot be effectually executed” in the states that had seceded.(3)

Lincoln the racist

A second wicked lie is that Lincoln championed natural rights and racial equality. Both his words and his deeds utterly repudiated any belief in or respect for these admirable principles. “I have no purpose to introduce political and social equality between the white and black races,” he announced in the first (21 August 1858) of hiscelebrated debates with Stephen Douglas. Like many and perhaps most other men of his time and place, Lincoln was an unapologetic and irredeemable racist: “I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favour of the race to which I belong having the superior position.” He added “Free them [slaves] and make them politically and socially our equals? My own feelings will not admit of this. We cannot, then, make them equals.”

No reasonable person can possibly deny Lincoln’s staunch and vociferous advocacy of apartheid and white supremacy.(4) On 17 July 1858, he said: “What I would most desire would be the separation of the white and black races.” And in the fourth of his debates with Douglas (on 18 September), he vowed: “I will to the very last stand by the law of this state, which forbids the marrying of white people with Negroes.” Lincoln enthusiastically supported the Illinois Constitution, which at that time prohibited the emigration of black people into the state; he also backed the infamous Illinois Black Codes, which deprived the small number of free blacks residing within the state any semblance of citizenship; and he applauded the Fugitive Slave Act (1850), which compelled Northerners to capture runaway slaves and return them to their owners.

Lincoln brought these shamelessly racist attitudes and pro-slavery policy preferences to the White House. In his First Inaugural Address, he promised to support a proposed constitutional amendment (that had just passed the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives) that would have prohibited the federal government from ever assuming the power “to abolish or interfere, within any State, with the domestic institutions thereof, including that of persons held to labour or service by the laws of said State.” Also in his First Inaugural, Lincoln proposed to make this constitutional amendment “express and irrevocable.” Finally, Lincoln was a lifelong advocate of “colonisation,” that is, of shipping all black people to Africa, Central America, Haiti – anywhere other than the U.S. “I cannot make it better known than it already is,” he stated in a Message to Congress (1 December 1862), “that I strongly favour colonisation.” Indeed, he favoured it so strongly that he was the president of the Illinois Colonization Society. To Dishonest Abe, African-Americans could only be “equal” once they had been expelled from the United States.

A third myth is that Lincoln’s war saved the Union. Clearly, it did so geographically; just as clearly, however, by destroying its voluntary nature – which the Founders had emphasised and which had been taken for granted thereafter – the war ruined the Union philosophically. In the Declaration of Independence (1776), Articles of Confederation (1777-1781) and Constitution (1788), the states described themselves as “free and independent.” These documents could not be clearer: states delegated specified powers to the federal government which they had created as their agent, and they retained ultimate sovereignty for themselves. When they put their signatures to the Declaration of Independence, America’s Founders announced the secession from the British Empire of the states which they represented; and when George III signed the peace treaty ending the war, he named all of the states individually. He waged war against thirteen states, not a single entity called “the United States Government.”

"Abraham Lincoln was not the Great Emancipator: he was the Great Warmonger and Imperialist, the Great Racist, the Great Taxer-and-Spender, the Great Corruptionist, the Great Incarcerator and the Great Vandal of the Constitution."

Given those precedents, what sane person could possibly deny the same right of secession to Americans who withdrew consent from the federal government? Early in the 19th century, Northern rather than Southern states threatened to secede. Vermont considered secession in order to register its extreme disgust at theLouisiana Purchase – whose champion, Thomas Jefferson, knew was unconstitutional and who throughout his life affirmed the right of any state to dissolve the bonds of Union. Further, Massachusetts threatened to secede as a protest against the Embargo Act of 1807, the War of 1812 and the annexation of Texas in 1845. On none of these occasions did any Southerner (or any American of any description) threaten Yankees with invasion.(5)When Texans seceded from Mexico, no American doubted their right to do so and to join the Union. Quite the contrary: all insisted that they had such a right, and that no Mexican had any right to stop them. But to Lincoln and his henchmen, freedom of association did not permit freedom of disassociation: hence Southerners (including Texans) could join but couldn’t depart the Union. Like the insect in the Venus Flytrap and the guest at the Hotel California, you’re free to enter but you can never leave.

The truth, however, is that in 1861 the principle of freedom of association and right of secession was as widely understood and affirmed in the North as it was in the South. As The Brooklyn Daily Eagle editorialised on 13 November 1860, the Union “depends for its continuance on the free consent and will of the sovereign people of each state, and when that consent and will is withdrawn on either part, their Union is gone.” The New York Journal of Commerce concurred. On 12 January 1861 it warned that a coerced Union, one in which states were forcibly restrained from secession, would change the nature of government from “a voluntary one, in which the people are sovereigns, to a despotism where one part of the people are slaves” (see also John Remington Graham, A Constitutional History of Secession, Pelican, 2002).

Lincoln the dictator

A fourth blatant lie, cherished by Republicans, is the assertion that Lincoln was a “Defender of the Constitution.” The polar opposite is true: Lincoln was a tyrant and the despoiler par excellence of the Constitution. Generations of historians have accurately labelled him a “dictator.” “Dictatorship played a decisive role in the North’s successful effort to maintain the Union by force of arms,” wrote Clinton Rossiter in Constitutional Dictatorship (first published in 1948). “Lincoln’s amazing disregard for the Constitution was considered by nobody as legal.”

James G. Randall documented Dishonest Abe’s assault upon law and liberty in Constitutional Problems Under Lincoln (first published in 1926). Lincoln suspended the writ of habeas corpus and ordered the military to arrest tens of thousands of political opponents. At his command, but without a shred of legal authority, ca. 300 newspapers were closed and all telegraphic communications censored; elections in the North were rigged; throughout the Union, Democratic voters were intimidated; in New York City, hundreds of protesters against conscription (a form of slavery) were shot; West Virginia was unconstitutionally carved out of Virginia; and the most outspoken member of the Democratic Party opposition, Congressman Clement L. Vallandigham of Ohio, was deported. For good measure, duly-elected members of the Maryland legislature were gaoled, as was the mayor of Baltimore and a Maryland Congressman. In total disregard of the Second Amendment to the Constitution, inhabitants of Border States (Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri and West Virginia) were disarmed, and wherever Lincoln’s evil tentacles could spread, private property was confiscated.

A fifth lie is that Lincoln was a “great humanitarian” who bore “malice towards none.” The truth is that Lincoln planned and managed a total war upon Southern civilians (see in particular Mark Grimsley, The Hard Hand of War, Cambridge University Press, 1997). Like Robert Mugabe today and sordid host of dictators during the 20th century, Lincoln ordered his troops to murder women and children. His war included the destruction of entire towns populated solely by civilians, massive looting, rape and execution without trial (or even charge) of non-combatants. To this day, General William Tecumseh Sherman’s March to the Sea (November-December 1864) remains the worst act of terrorism committed on American soil (see, for example, "Sherman’s March" by Clyde Wilson). Americans would be wise to remove their blinds and recall that this evil act was perpetrated by the agents of the U.S. Government at the vengeful behest of a Republican president. Sherman wrote on 24 December: “We are not only fighting armies, but a hostile people, and must make old and young, rich and poor, feel the hard hand of war, as well as their organised armies. I know that this recent movement of mine through Georgia has had a wonderful effect in this respect.” Using the rules established by the Allies after the Second World War, Lincoln and the high command of the Union Army unquestionably qualified as war criminals.(6)

A sixth lie, perhaps the most despicable of all, is that the War of Northern Aggression was necessary. Only war, say its mythologisers and apologists, could have ended slavery. The truth, of course, is that it was a war of choice and not of necessity. This war, the deadliest in American history, caused the deaths of 620,000 soldiers and an undetermined number (but possibly as many as 250,000) of civilians. Approximately one in four adult, white male Southerners perished. And it was all for nothing. During the 19th century, dozens of countries, including the British, Russian and Spanish empires, abolished the indefensible institution of slavery. They did so peacefully and by means of compensated emancipation. Among the countries of the Western Hemisphere that followed this route were Argentina, Colombia, Chile, all of Central America, Mexico, Bolivia, Uruguay, various French colonies, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. Only in the Land of the Free is war and the destruction of property and constitution regarded as a necessary condition of emancipation. Whether in the American South or the Middle East, Republicans, it seems, have to destroy a country in order to deliver it.

Abraham Lincoln, then, was not the Great Emancipator: he was the Great Warmonger and Imperialist, the Great Racist, the Great Taxer-and-Spender, the Great Corruptionist, the Great Incarcerator and the Great Vandal of the Constitution. He was a war criminal and America’s worst-ever president.

1. The authority in this field is Thomas DiLorenzo. See in particular his books The Real Lincoln: A New Look at Abraham Lincoln, His Agenda, and an Unnecessary War, Prima Lifestyles, 2002, and Lincoln Unmasked: What You’re Not Supposed to Know About Dishonest Abe, 2006, and short articles. See also Government Growth, the Party of Lincoln, and George W. Bush by Anthony Gregory, and Jeffrey Rogers Hummel, Emancipating Slaves, Enslaving Free Men: A History of the American Civil War, Open Court, 1996.

2. In 1860, the proceeds from tariffs comprised 95 percent of federal revenue. The secession of the Southern states thus meant considerable loss to the federal treasury. Expenditures – i.e., pork barrel politics – would have to fall, and Lincoln’s and his Republican henchmen’s raison d’être become much less viable. That, they would not abide.

3. Republicans demanded the blockade and bombardment of Southern ports because the Confederate constitution had outlawed protectionist tariffs. Given a 50 percent tax on goods imported via New York, and a 10 percent tax in Charleston (South Carolina), then much trade would divert from Northern to Southern ports – to the detriment of the former and the profit of the latter. This the Republicans could not abide: hence even before the War started they demanded the blockade and bombardment of Southern ports. See also David Gordon’s review of A Century of War: Lincoln, Wilson, and Roosevelt.

4. Native Americans have as many grounds as Southerners to despise Dishonest Abe. The man who gave the military a free hand to oppress Northerners and Southerners also gave carte blanche to federal troops and cavalry to exterminate Indian tribes in the West.
5. Canadians, too, have good reason to laugh in derision at Americans delusions about “self determination.” Just as Southerners were forcibly denied the right of secession, on two occasions (1775 and 1812) Americans invaded Canada in order to force annexation upon unwilling British North Americans. Canadians declined the American “offers” because they have long known something that utterly escapes Americans: a benign despot across the seas, particularly one that takes no more than an intermittent interest in his overseas Dominions, is far preferable to a malignant one within the Beltway. Fortunately for the liberty of Canadians, on each occasion the Americans withdrew in ignominy and disarray.

6. In his memoirs (1891), Sherman wrote that he met with Lincoln after the March to the Sea. The president was eager to hear stories about how thousands of Southern civilians (mostly children, women, the elderly and the infirm) had been plundered, sometimes murdered, and rendered homeless. According to Sherman, Lincoln laughed uproariously at the stories. One of Sherman’s biographers (Lee Kennett, Sherman: A Soldier’s Life, Harper, 2002), who otherwise writes very favourably about the general, concludes that if the Confederates had won the war then they would have been “justified in stringing up President Lincoln and the entire Union high command for violation of the laws of war, specifically for waging war against non-combatants.”

Napoleon was a Satanist. The hand in the jacket has nothing to do with a sore kidney, as my history book disinformed my classmates and me.

The SSS (secret society satanists) overthrew the French monarchy. The French king, in 1307, realized who they were, threw them out of France, and seized their wealth.

The same thing happened in kingdom after kingdom.

Satanists realized: A king can quickly order the full destruction of elements attempting to overthrow the kingdom. They decided: We need democracies with elected officials- whom we can control with money and threat of death.

Once they overthrew and BEHEADED (a sign of Satanic works) the French monarchy and all the social leadership in France, the very first new law instituted by the new government stated, "France is no longer a Christian nation." Just one more clue about who was driving change there.

One more blatant clue: In the rise of evil, Napoleon came to power. He rose up and became the impetus for death all over Europe. Who has come to KILL, steal, and destroy? Answer: Satan! Yes, Satan and his servants walking with the unholy spirit.

Napoleon's hand in his jacket is a sign to other Satanists that he is with them. Look up all the leading generals from the American Civil War. You can find them with hand in jacket. Pope Benedict, too. Hand in jacket. The Civil War generals would not follow Lincoln's orders or end the war. They had their own secret objective: create death as service to Satan; create debt for the new U.S. government so that the SSS banking arm could control the debt- and influence/control American law and liberty.

The enemy the world does not see: the SSS, the secret society satanists.

That is who Napoleon was.

And, that is who is running America, England, Europe, and almost every nation and corporation in the world today. And, their objectives are the same: TO KILL, STEAL, AND DESTROY.

wassik...I'm From Philly and use to go to Horn & Hardart's: since you have a PA connection I have to ask...have you ever been there ?

Here a little from a book I am thinking about buying:

In this wonderfully nostalgic trip, readers are taken to a place where nickels slipped in a slot yield food from a little window in the wall; where drinks pour from spigots in that same wall; where simple nutritious meals and modest but satisfying desserts are the order of the day; where a superb cup of coffee is always available.

Philadelphia and New York were lucky enough to have these cafeterias, which opened in 1902 and closed in 1991. Diehl (The Late Great Pennsylvania Station) and Hardart (granddaughter of Automat co-founder Frank Hardart) trace the development of this unique institution-a democratic eating establishment where one could sit at a table with royalty, school kids, the homeless, businessmen, housewives or show biz names.

Founders Joe Horn and Frank Hardart knew the appeal of their "nickel cup of coffee" and "ten cent piece of pie." Recipes from the Art Deco chrome and glass servers include staples such as Cream Spinach, Baked Beans, Pumpkin Pie, Beef and Noodles with Burgundy Sauce and Mashed Turnips. The authors include interviews, archival photos, and chapters on the various radio and television shows Horn & Hardart inspired.

On the 100th birthday of Horn & Hardart, a look back at one of America’s most beloved institutions

A coin-operated glass-and-chrome wonder, Horn & Hardart’s Automats revolutionized the way Americans ate when they opened up in Philadelphia and New York in the early twentieth century. In a country where the industrial revolution had just taken hold, eating at a restaurant with self-serving vending machines rather than waitresses and Art Deco architecture instead of stuffy dining rooms was an unforgettable experience. The Automat served freshly made food for the price of a few coins, and no one made a better cup of coffee. By the peak of its popularity—from the Great Depression to the post-war years—the Automat was more than an inexpensive place to buy a good meal; it was a culinary treasure, a technical marvel, and an emblem of the times.

The Automat will take readers back to the days of Charles Lindbergh and Babe Ruth, Walter Winchell and Jack Benny, the Brooklyn Dodgers and shows at Radio City. Through beautiful archival photography, candid interviews, delicious recipes, and wonderfully evocative memorabilia, Lorraine Diehl and Marianne Hardart bring to life a time when a handful of nickels and the twist of a wrist bought a good square meal—Macaroni and Cheese, Boston Baked Beans, Chicken Pot Pie, Rice Pudding, and all the other favorites whose recipes are in these pages.

The Automat was a true American treasure, and here is its tribute.

“I have always thought that the Automat in New York has the best scrambled eggs in the world.” —Gregory Peck

“To have your own stack of nickels placed in your tiny hands; to be able to choose your own food, richly on display like museum pieces; to make quick and final decisions at the age of eight; this was a lesson in financial dealings that not even two years at the Wharton School could buy today.” —Neil Simon

“Oh, be still my heart! I used to shine shoes when I was fourteen years old. And when I was a little ahead, I would stop at Horn & Hardart.” —Tony Curtis

“I lived at the Automat. They had the greatest chocolate milk. When I moved to Philadelphia, I apportioned less than two dollars a day to eat on, and the Automat was the only place I could do it.” —Dick Clark

“I went to the Automat all the time. I grew up going to the Automat. The food was delicious. And it was wonderful.” —Woody Allen

“The first time I came to New York, I had a meal at the Automat. I had heard about the Automat, and I had to go see what it was all about.” —Leonard Nimoy

“I had the same lunch every day: three vegetables, a roll, and cocoa. All for twenty-five cents.” —Jerome Robbins

After being criticized by the Citizens' League for his inability to cope with a crime wave, Police Captain Haines orders his men in the Homicide Bureau to clean up all their cases, but without violating the constitutional rights of any suspect. Detective Jim Logan is ordered to meet the incoming new-head of the Police Department lab and internal affairs, J.G. Bliss, and takes an instant dislike to her over her attitude toward criminal's rights. A murder case is turned over to Jim. Chuck Brown, the killer, informs his gang boss, Briggs, that their blackmailer has been killed and Briggs continues with his preparations to ship a cargo of scrap metal metal to foreign war lords to be used for munitions manufacture. Jim arrests Chuck, but if forced by Miss Bliss to release him on grounds of insufficient evidence. In an attempt to force a confession from Chuck, Jim goes to his apartment and, in a scuffle, causes him to fall through a window. The aroused Citizens' League, through its spokesman Henley, press charges against Jim and he is demoted. He continues to investigate and learns of Chuck's connection with a junk dealer's racket. Jamison, a honest junk dealer, is murdered for refusing to ship scrap metal abroad for war purposes and an eye-witness is killed in a supposed hit-and-run accident.

wassik...these people want to sell me insurance BUT the fine print is so small I can't read it.  I've blown it up a little so I can read it.

I'm think I can't trust these people since they readily don't want me to know what is up.  What do you think about trusting them ?

wassik do you believe all this. I read it at a conspiracy sitere:

The Knights Templar and the Order of Saint John (e.g., the Hospitallers, Knights of Saint John, Knights of Rhodes, Knights Hospitallers, Sovereign Military Order of Malta, etc.) were two medieval Roman Catholic Orders whose merger ultimately spawned the creation of Switzerland around 1300 AD. Consequently, the respective colors and symbols of said Orders are now depicted in the flag of Switzerland. These notorious military Orders routinely engaged is assassinations, piracy, terror attacks and war, traits currently exhibited by the CIA in Switzerland. According to legend, the Order of Saint John wore black surcoats with a white cross during its crusades with the Muslims. However, in 1248, Pope Innocent IV approved a new standard military dress for the Order of Saint John which consisted of a red surcoat emblazoned by a white cross, the exact same color scheme and symbol now depicted in the flag of Switzerland. Interestingly, the flag of Switzerland is now synonymous with neutrality and innocence, an apparent tribute to Pope Innocent IV who sanctified the Order. The Order relocated to Switzerland shortly after the Protestant Reformation (c. 1170) when its leaders in the Margraviate of Brandenburg declared their continued loyalty to the Order of Saint John while publically accepting Protestant theology. The Protestant branches of the Order admittedly spread throughout Europe, including “Hungary, Poland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, France, Austria, the United Kingdom, and Italy”. After going undercover in the Alps, “It was established that the [Order of Saint John] should remain neutral in any war between Christian nations”. Since the flag of Switzerland bears the exact same color scheme and symbol as the Order of Saint John, and it’s the only permanently neutral country on Earth, it can be deduced that the Order of St. John became founded what is now known as Switzerland. Similar to the Order of Saint John, the Knights Templar were known for their white mantles with a red cross, a color scheme and symbol now depicted in the logo of the International Red Cross in Geneva, Switzerland, as well as in the flag of Switzerland, albeit the colors are reversed. The notion that the Knights Templar established Switzerland is corroborated by numerous scholars who believe that the “Templars fled into the Swiss Alps”. Since both the Knights Templar and the Order of Saint John admittedly relocated to Switzerland, and the color schemes and symbols of both Orders are evident in the flag of Switzerland, it can be deduced that the country of Switzerland was specifically founded so that these Roman Catholic military orders could fund and orchestrate assassinations, piracy, terror attacks and wars around the world under the guise of neutrality. Due to the wealth the Knights Templar confiscated during their centuries of conquests, the non-combatant members of the Order began to develop a massive economic infrastructure within Europe, creating financial techniques that became the earliest forms of banking, something Switzerland is now famous for. In 1150, the Templars began generating letters of credit for pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land, an innovative arrangement that became the earliest form of banking, leading to the formal system known today as checks. Consequently, the Order of the Knights Templar became the world’s first multinational corporation. Templar involvement in banking grew to the point where they began to practice usury, charging interest on money lent. Templar usury is still evident today in the form of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) which is located in Basel, Switzerland. In short, the BIS creates money out of thin air and then charges countries (and their respective citizens) interest on said money, keeping the world in a perpetual state of debt and slavery. Since interest rates can always be manipulated, no country can ever escape from their current economic status, regardless of how hard they work.

wassik...I am a big Jack Benny fan and am thinking about buy his Lost Episodes.

I'm guess I am not that much of a fan since I don't want to read all this review.

Do you think I should or do you think the guy that wrote is in cahoots with the seller ?

You're opinion will really help me to make the right decision.

I remembered seeing reruns of the original TV version (1950-1965) of The Jack Benny Program as a kid, but those syndicated episodes were mainly derived from the handful of shot-on-35mm-film shows which were the exception rather than the rule. During its long run, The Jack Benny Show was typically kinescoped. (Add to that, The Jack Benny Program aired infrequently, with only a smattering of episodes during its first few seasons then, gradually, airing every third or second third week for most of its 15-year run, finally becoming a weekly series only near the end. Most shows were merely kinescoped while others, particularly those filmed on location, were shot on 35mm film. A few were even shot or videotaped in color.)

Regardless, the shows in this set are a goldmine. The set includes eighteen "long-lost episodes" reportedly "unseen since their original broadcast," dating between 1956 and 1964, from Jack Benny's personal collection of kinescopes since restored by the UCLA Film & Television Archive (those involved include Dan Einstein, Tony Best, Michele Geary, Randy Yantek, Ryan Chandler, and Masis Markar). Also included as bonus material are newsreel clips dating as far back as 1935 to excerpts from Benny's later TV specials, including Jack Benny's Second Farewell Special, which aired 11 months before his death in December 1974.

From his earliest radio series in 1932 until that last starring special 42 years later, The Jack Benny Program, as all of his variously-titled radio and TV shows are generally called today, Benny's persona and the show's format was firmly locked into place with little variation, and audiences loved it.

Jack Benny played himself in the same sense that Larry David plays himself on the not dissimilar Curb Your Enthusiasm. Benny's character, a successful radio and TV star (much less so in the movies) is notoriously cheap, vain, an untalented violinist, and a ham, pretty much the opposite of Benny in real life. Superficially charming, the Benny character frets about his looks, famously claiming to be thirty-nine well into his seventies.

A master of comic timing, indeed, the master of the pregnant pause, Benny could extend a laugh almost indefinitely with the subtle expressions he shared with his audience. Benny's greatness as a comedian was, as director Norman Abbott points out in one of the extras, as a target of derision but mainly as a reactor: reacting to the crazy world of show business and Hollywood generally, playing off an endless parade of major league guest stars who would eagerly appear on his show, and Benny's own stock company of wildly eccentric characters. Of the latter the most famous were chubby announcer Don Wilson, dimwitted boy singer (even into his late-middle age) Dennis Day, and Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Benny's black (but never subservient) valet and chauffeur. Rochester's equal racial footing with Benny is exemplified in one funny monologue included here. Benny, in character, explains Rochester in fact is quite wealthy himself and frequently the host of lavish parties where Jack works for him. "And he's a fabulous tipper, too!" Benny adds.

Benny's best friend in real life was comedian George Burns, who with wife Gracie Allen had a similarly surreal series blurring the lines between the real people they were and the characters they played on TV. On The Jack Benny Program, each show would begin with Benny's monologue, often thwarted by a (planted) member of the studio audience, or by a sudden (staged) dispute with the show's sponsor, or by the surprise (scripted) appearance of a big Hollywood star in the audience who'd come on stage and wind up singing a song or appearing in a sketch. Like Jackie Gleason's The Honeymooners, old scripts that had gone over well before were retooled again and again for Benny, and like The Honeymooners, no one seemed to mind.

For the audience, never quite knowing how much of this was scripted and how much ad-libbed is part of the fun. If a line was flubbed, something went wrong, or sometimes if one of Benny's regulars did something particularly funny, Benny would frequently break character, unsuccessfully suppressing a laugh, and struggle to recover and get back on-script. It happens at least once on nearly every show, leading me to suspect some of Benny's hilarious break-ups might well be perfectly-timed fakes, while at other times Benny is clearly caught off-guard and nearly falls to the stage floor laughing. (George Burns reportedly could make Benny helpless with laughter within seconds.) In one episode there's a running gag insisting that fat Don Wilson is actually quite thin but pumped full of air before each show. Every time Benny pokes Don's stomach there's an amusing sound effect, the result of which is that Benny and Don can barely get through a Lux Soap commercial because the sound effect so amuses them, and Benny can't stop poking Don.

Like Shout!'s You Bet Your Life shows, the Jack Benny episodes seem to have been carefully and wisely chosen. They offer a good sampling of stock Jack Benny situations (Jack reacting to current fads, to show business crises like switching sponsors, fretting over some benefit performance), and include appearances by major stars (John Wayne, Gary Cooper), historical figures (Harry S. Truman), and contemporaneous peers (Milton Berle, Red Skelton). The show also includes appearances by Jack Paar and Dick Van Dyke, younger talents whom Benny generously championed.

So I looked on Angie's List for a contractor and they want my name and address just to refer someone to me and will get back to me.

I'm thinking WTF. Anyhow than they want me to agree to these terms: (What do you think ?)

Terms & Conditions

Ratings Explanation. Where HomeAdvisor Service Professionals are displayed, the letter grade is calculated based on a conversion of their HomeAdvisor star rating as follows:

HomeAdvisor Star Rating       Angie's List Grade
4.5 – 5                                         A
3.5 – 4.49                                    B
2.5 – 3.49                                    C
1.5 – 2.49                                    D
0.5 – 1.49                                    F

As you may be matched to both Angie’s List Service Professionals, and HomeAdvisor Service Professionals, it is important that you understand that these professionals undergo different pre-screening procedures.

Angie’s List Screening. Angie’s List will only match you with Angie’s List Service professionals that

Have an Overall “A” or “B” rating from member reviews;

Have passed all background checks established by Angie’s List (as described below);

Attest that they possess all applicable state and local licensing, registration, or other trade requirements to provide service for the Project or the project described in the Lead; and

Are in good business standing with Angie’s List

Angie's List has criminal background checks performed annually on the principal/owner or relevant manager of all "A"- and "B"-rated companies that are Certified Service Providers, that offer ecommerce offers, that receive leads through the Projects Submissions platform, or that are granted the Super Service Award. The background check currently is performed by American Business Services (“ABS”), a third-party screening company. Upon processing the background check, ABS will provide Angie’s List with a simple “pass” or “fail” designation. A failed background check is one that finds one or more of the following: (1) any violent or theft conviction at a felony level in the last 7 years; (2) any sexual felony conviction or on a sexual offender registry at any time (no time limit); or (3) any pending felony charges involving any of types (1) or (2).

ABS will provide Angie’s List with only a pass or fail designation. Angie’s List and its members will never see any content from background check results. Since we can only perform these background checks annually, we ask anyone with knowledge of legal, ethical or financial concerns regarding a company contact us by either logging in and selecting Send A Message using our contact form. Angie's List will investigate any information we receive regarding a company's background.

While we always strive to provide the most current information, we also recommend that you perform your own research on the companies you hire.

HomeAdvisor Screening. Unless otherwise noted on the screening tab of a HomeAdvisor Service Professional's profile page, HomeAdvisor.com uses the following criteria as part of its registration enrollment process ("registration") for new Service Professionals, with the exception of Corporate Accounts (as described below) and service professionals providing services in Canada (neither of which are screened) applying for membership in our network: We confirm the following at the time of a service professional's application to become a member of the HomeAdvisor network:

Licensing - We confirm at the time of a service professional's application, that a prospective new SP member has all applicable required state-level trade licensing for the services for which we match them to consumers. Certain states may require state-level licensing for projects above specified dollar amounts. We recommend you confirm these licensing requirements with the business and the applicable state and local licensing authorities. In some states, licensing may be required by the county or local authority in which the work is being performed. We recommend you confirm these licensing requirements before proceeding with your project. Larger projects often require the use of sub-contractors for specific types of work (for example, a kitchen remodel may require an electrician or plumber). We recommend you verify that all the sub-contractors doing work on your project carry the appropriate licensing. Given the unique nature of California licensing, HomeAdvisor relies on representations of service professionals that are using a California General building contracting license to cover home improvement tasks that such service professionals are performing more than one task as defined and required by California licensing rules. We always recommend that you ask the business to provide you with a copy of their license.

State Business Filings - For service professionals that are corporations or limited liability companies, we confirm that the business is registered in the state in which it is located.

Criminal Records Search - We use third party data sources to conduct a criminal search, in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located, for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business, within the three years prior to such service professional's application for membership in the HomeAdvisor network. HomeAdvisor’s third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen our service professionals. The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. For more information, click on the "Instant Database Searches" tab on the following webpage: http://www.backgroundchecks.com/ourdata/coveragemap.

Sex Offender Search - We check the websites that consolidate state sex offender information in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located to confirm that there is not a match based solely on the name of the owner/principal of the company. We do not run sex offender searches in any other states. Please note that only a fingerprint match can guarantee an accurate match for a sex offender search. We recommend that you check the applicable state sex offender websites for any individuals that will be performing work in your home.

Identity Verification (Social Security Number) - HomeAdvisor verifies the social security numbers of business owners/principals to confirm their identities. (This applies primarily to small businesses.)

Legal Search for Civil Judgments - We use third party data sources to check, within the 12 months prior to the service professional’s application for membership in the HomeAdvisor network, for significant state-level civil legal judgments or liens entered against the owner/principal by business customers and for bankruptcy filings by or against the owner/principal, in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located.

Corporate Accounts: Some Service Professionals are employees, franchisees, dealers, or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or corporate accounts ("Corporate Accounts"). In such event, you may be matched with the Corporate Account entity or with one of their Corporate SP's. The above screening criteria is not applicable to Corporate Accounts, and therefore, HomeAdvisor does not screen the Corporate Accounts or Corporate SP's.

Service Professionals Profiles: HomeAdvisor allows Service Professionals to post profiles about themselves and their business on the HomeAdvisor or apps. HomeAdvisor does not review or verify the information or representations set forth in those profiles, except as expressly set forth above, as they are self-reported by the Service Professional. HomeAdvisor therefore makes no representations or warranties regarding any information posted by a Service Professional, and assumes no liability for such information.

The above procedures may change from time to time at the sole discretion of HomeAdvisor. HomeAdvisor believes that it uses commercially reasonable methods to check these matters but does not make any representations or warranties that members continue to meet the above screening criteria after the date of their enrollment in the HomeAdvisor network. HomeAdvisor does not represent or warrant that the information received from state, provincial or other government agencies or from third party sources is accurate, error free, or that it is up to date or updated at the time that HomeAdvisor checks such information. Most agencies have periodic update cycles or schedules and this information is not updated on a real-time basis by such agencies and third party sources.

All Ratings and Reviews of a Service Professional displayed to you reflect the opinions of other consumers, and do not reflect or represent the opinions or representations of Angie’s List. Angie’s List disclaims any and all representations or warranties with regard to the Ratings and Reviews. Angie’s List does not assume responsibility or liability for any Review or for any claims, damages, or losses resulting from any use of the Site or the materials contained therein. By submitting a Rating & Review, you represent and warrant that:

all of Your reviews and ratings will either be based upon your actual first-hand experiences with the Service Providers You are reviewing;

You are not in any way related (by blood, adoption, marriage, or domestic partnership, if the Service Provider is an individual) to any of the Service Providers for which you submit reviews or ratings;

Your name and review information will be made available to the Service Providers on which You review; and

Angie’s List may redact, delete, or reject Your reviews if they do not conform with Angie’s List’s publication criteria, which may change from time to time at Angie’s List’s sole discretion.

In connection with Your use of the Service, You represent and warrant that You:

are above the age of eighteen (18);

will abide by the letter and spirit of the terms and conditions of this Agreement and all applicable local, state, national or international laws;

Angie’s List Service Professionals. SOLELY APPLICABLE TO GOLD MEMBERS, WITH RESPECT TO ANGIE’S LIST SERVICE PROVIDERS. If you have a dispute with a Service Provider and have an active Gold Membership, You may request Angie’s List’s assistance in communicating with that Service Provider about Your desired resolution (the “Complaint Resolution Process” or the “CRP”). You may request to participate in the CRP through our Website or by contacting a member care representative. You then will be requested to complete and return to Angie’s List certain documentation relating to Your complaint. Shortly thereafter, a member of our Complaint Resolution Team will contact You to obtain additional information and understand Your desired resolution. The Complaint Resolution Team then will contact the Service Provider to explain Your complaint and desired resolution and to ask the Service Provider to respond in writing within a reasonable timeframe. If the Service Provider agrees to Your desired resolution or supplies a counteroffer that You find acceptable, the case is considered resolved, Your review regarding the Service Provider will be removed, and You will have the opportunity to submit updated feedback about Your experience. If the Service Provider responds but does not resolve the matter as described above, Your feedback shall remain unchanged. Your participation in the CRP is at Angie’s List’s sole discretion. We reserve the right to reject Your request to participate for any reason. By participating in the CRP, You consent to have Your complaint and a story about the circumstances relating to the CRP published in our monthly magazine and online publications. For complaints involving health care providers, we may ask You to sign a HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) waiver to allow the Service Provider to discuss the issue with us. The CRP is not a legal forum and Angie’s List does not, at any time, become a party to Your dispute with the Service Provider. Angie’s List is neither a mediator nor an arbitrator and does not provide legal advice or assistance. wassik...I am thinking about buying some flooring. Would you believe all this stuff if you were me ?

Our wood floors are manufactured for maximum durability, easy maintenance and finished with a high quality aluminum oxide water base urethane UV cured finish. This step protects the wood and helps keep the flooring looking beautiful longer. While highly durable, the finish is NOT considered indestructible. However, by observing a few precautions like setting up a regular cleaning routine and simple maintenance program to protect the finish, you can expect years of performance and beauty from your wood floor. All wood floors can show signs of wear over time. There are many factors that can affect the amount of wear. These include the size and lifestyle of your family and product location. The following cleaning principles are recommended for all of our products -Hardwood, Laminates, Corks, Bamboo and other Exotics. Outlined are examples of the reasonable and necessary maintenance to be performed; this is only intended to be a basic list; • Immediately after installation, be certain that the flooring is completely cleaned and dry as described below. If you must protect the flooring from traffic, use only “craft” paper, brown, red or white, this will allow the flooring to “breathe”. Do not fully cover the flooring. NEVER lay plastic of any kind or any other non-porous material over the flooring as this can trap moisture, harm the flooring or fade the finish. • Sweep or vacuum regularly, since built-up dirt, grit and sand can damage the surface of the wood. If using a vacuum, use a soft brush attachment -NOT A BEATER BAR ATTACHMENT. Be certain the wheels of the vacuum are clean and do not damage the finish. When using a broom be certain that bristles are soft. You can also use a dry mop. • Because of the myriad of cleaning products available and methods of each application, Lumber Liquidators cannot endorse or oversee the use of any Brand Name of floor cleaner. We do recommend cleaning products safe for urethane finishes such as our Bellawood floor cleaner and Dream Home Cleaner. • The use of a changeable terry cloth type system to clean the floor is highly recommended; apply cleaning solution to the terry cloth. • NEVER use oil soaps or paste wax products or other household cleaners that contain lemon oil, Tung oil, silicone, or ammonia on pre-finished flooring. The use of these products will harm the long-term performance and appearance of your floor and may affect future re-coating. (Damages caused by non-recommended cleaning products are not covered by warranties). NOTE: This also includes the use of vinegar. Vinegar is an acidic element that can have an oxidizing, caustic effect on the finish. • In an effort to clean hardwood floors, many have experimented with a variety of cleaners on the market and end up with a new problem. “How to remove the build-up of cleaning products revealing the original surface"? If this is the case with you, we recommend consulting with a professional cleaner local to your area because they can best see the details involved and make the most accurate recommendations. If you choose to remove the layers of build-up yourself, use cotton rags instead of a mop to control the amount of liquid used. • NEVER wet-mop or flood your floor with water or any other product. Moisture can seep into the seams causing edge-cupping damage. Urethane floors do not require wet mopping. Natural floors are water resistant, not water proof. Remove all spills promptly using a soft, slightly damp cloth • STEAM CLEANERS ; Lumber Liquidators does not recommend Water brooms or steamer type cleaners on laminates, bamboo, engineered wood, corks or hardwood floors. Although steamers may work well cleaning OTHER types of hard surface flooring, the 130° to 240° heated steam vapor can ruin wood or urethane finish resulting in finish issues, warped, or cupped flooring. Water and wood do not mix well, especially steam. Use these products at your own risk. • Do place protective mats at entry doors to keep dirt, grit, sand and moisture from being track in from the outside. • Do use area rugs in heavily traveled areas and pivot points (e.g., stair landings, room entries, etc.), especially if you have a large family or indoor pets. • When using area rugs, use a rug pad with a felt, plant or PVC based backing. DO NOT use area rugs with a petroleum based rubber backing (typically black) as this can cause permanent chemical staining/etching of the floor finish. • Take reasonable precautions; use a dolly and protective sheets of plywood when moving heavy objects such as furniture and appliances. • Place protective pads beneath furniture legs and feet to reduce scratches and dents. Check and replace wore pads regularly. • Keep pet’s nails trimmed, and paws clean and free of dirt, gravel, grease, oil, and stains. • Scratches, dents and cupping are site related, not considered a manufactured defect. Thank you for your inquiry

wassik...does this sound like a good movie to you ?

Climaxing a long series of mysterious disappearances of young girls, dancer Thalia Arnold is found murdered. Police-detective Captain McVeigh believes that King Peterson, a nightclub operator and owner of the Crescent School of Fine Arts, knows something about the missing girls. Peterson's silent partner is Joseph Thompson, a theatrical agent, whose daughter, Nora, a reporter, is waging a newspaper crusade against the district attorney's office for failing to trace the girls, much to the discomfiture of James Horton, a young assistant district attorney. Pauline Randolph is the next to disappear but Nora had seen her leaving her grandmother's home in a car driven by a blonde woman. Nora interviews the grandmother who tells her that Pauline had theatrical employment, along with one of her friends, Mary Phillips. When the police begin investigating the Crescent talent-school, Thompson, who knew the Arnold girl intimately, quarrels with Peterson over the school, which, Thompson claims, will land them both in jail. In a lineup of all the showgirls from Peterson's nightclubs, Mary tries to identify the mysterious blonde who picked her and Pauline up, but she is unable to do so. The blonde, Kate Neslon, telephones Horton to come to her apartment and she will give him information about the missing girls, but he and Captain McVeigh find her dead in her apartment. Nora, who thinks Peterson doesn't know she is Thompson's daughter, decides to audition for the School of Missing Girls.

wassik...does this sound like a good movie ?

A good movie, if you have read the book

This is a good movie, but only if you have read the book. Otherwise, it would appear to be muddled and difficult to follow. There were so many different resistance factions operating in Paris at the time of the liberation it is difficult to keep them straight. The movie doesn't help you in that regard. Reading the book gives you a much better perspective on the part each faction played in the liberation.

The little vignettes you see with characters appearing in the film for only a few minutes are all true. Unfortunately, they don't always make sense to an uninformed viewer and they give the viewer the sense of a badly edited film.

The true story of the last few days before the liberation is extremely remarkable. Hitler sent a hard core general he trusted to destroy Paris. It is incredible that he disobeyed orders and saved the city.

What I really loved about the movie was the city itself. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The film was shot mostly in the actual locations where the events portrayed took place. As a lover of history, I have been fortunate to have visited Paris more than once and walked these locations fully aware of what happened there. That makes this movie special for me. But, the film does have problems.

Besides being a bit disjointed, the French and German dialog were dubbed in English. It would have been better with subtitles, although many of the same actors did their own English dubbing. The film is in black and white, which doesn't bother me, but it might have been better in color. One of the main reasons for B&W was the Nazi flags. The French authorities refused to allow red and black Nazi flags to fly in Paris, even for a movie. They agreed only to have black and gray flags. But the black and white filming also allowed the blending of authentic war footage with the movie. Also remember that another similar film, The Longest Day, was shot a couple of years earlier in B&W.

The film is filled with a small army of great international actors. That was fun, although I didn't buy Kirk Douglas as General Patton. Gert Frobe (Goldfinger) was excellent as the German general in charge of Paris and Charles Boyer was also excellent in his small role. The music was composed by Maurice Jarre and is just wonderful. Whenever I am in Paris, the music continually runs through my head. As a side note, Jarre obviously borrowed much of this soundtrack for use in "Grand Prix".

In short, this is a historical movie rather than a great film. I recommend you read the book to get the full impact of the movie. But understand this remarkable story of the liberation is stranger than fiction, which makes it a good read. And, if you ever visit Paris the movie will take on a whole new perspective.

wassik...how do you feel about this situation ?

(Bloomberg) -- Tankers are offloading millions of barrels of Iranian oil into storage tanks at Chinese ports, creating a hoard of crude sitting on the doorstep of the world’s biggest buyer. Two and a half months after the White House banned the purchase of Iran’s oil, the nation’s crude is continuing to be sent to China where it’s being put into what’s known as “bonded storage,” say people familiar with operations at several Chinese ports. This oil doesn’t cross local customs or show up in the nation’s import data and is not necessarily in breach of sanctions. And while it remains out of circulation for now, its presence is looming over the market. The store of oil has the potential to push down global prices if Chinese refiners decide to draw on it, even as Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies curb production amid slowing growth in major economies. It also allows Iran to keep pumping and move its oil nearer to potential buyers.“Iranian oil shipments have been flowing into Chinese bonded storage for some months now, and continue to do so despite increased scrutiny,” said Rachel Yew, an analyst at industry consultant FGE in Singapore. “We can see why the producer would want to do so, as a build-up of supplies near key buyers is clearly beneficial for a seller, especially if sanctions are eased at some point.”See also: Iranian Oil Tanker Daniel Enters Chinese Port: Ship TrackingThere could be more Iranian oil headed for China’s bonded storage tanks, Bloomberg ship-tracking data show. At least ten very-large crude carriers and two smaller tankers owned by the state-run National Iranian Oil Company and its shipping arm are currently sailing toward China or idling off its coast. The vessels have a combined carrying capacity of over 20 million barrels. The bulk of Iranian oil in China’s bonded tanks is still owned by Tehran and therefore not in breach of sanctions, according to the people. The oil hasn’t crossed Chinese customs so it is theoretically in transit. Some of the crude, though, is owned by Chinese entities that may have received it as part of oil-for-investment schemes. For example, a Chinese oil company could have helped fund a production project in Iran under an agreement to be repaid in kind. Whether this sort of transaction is in breach of sanctions isn’t clear, and so the Chinese companies are keeping it in bonded storage to avoid the official scrutiny it would get once it is registered with customs, according to the people.Nobody replied to a faxed inquiry to China’s General Administration of Customs.Lack of ClarityThe build-up of Iranian oil in Chinese bonded storage has yet to be clearly addressed by Washington. The White House ended waivers allowing some countries to keep importing Iranian oil on May 2.There are currently no exemptions issued to any country for the import of Iranian oil, and any nation seen importing cargoes from the Persian Gulf producer will be in breach of sanctions, according to a senior Trump administration official, who asked not to be identified because he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly about the matter.“The U.S. will now need to define how it quantifies the infringement of sanctions,” said Michal Meidan, director of the China Energy Programme at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. There’s a lack of clarity on whether it would look at “financial transactions or the loading and discharge of cargoes by company or entity,” she said.See also: China Buying Iran LPG Despite Sanctions, Ship-Tracking ShowsChina received about 12 million tons of Iranian crude from January through May, according to ship-tracking data, versus about 10 million that cleared customs over the period. The discrepancy could be due to the flow of oil into bonded storage. One of the Iranian tankers that appears to have loaded oil after the U.S. waivers ended is very-large crude carrier Horse. It discharged at Tianjin in early-July after sailing from the Middle East where shipping data showed it signaling its destination as Iran’s Kharg Island on May 4.Several other Iranian-owned tankers offloaded in China or were heading there, according to ship tracking data. VLCC Stream discharged at Tianjin on June 19, while Amber, Salina and C. Infinity offloaded crude at the ports of Huangdao, Jinzhou and Ningbo. Tankers Snow, Sevin and Maria III were last seen sailing in the direction of China.Putting crude into bonded tanks in China also means Iran can avoid having to tie up part of its tanker fleet by storing the oil at sea for months at a time. The Islamic Republic used floating storage in 2012 to 2016 and again in 2018 as buyers shunned its crude due to U.S.-imposed trade restrictions.Should the Iranian crude leave bonded storage and end up in the market it could pressure oil prices, according to Bank of America Merrill Lynch. West Texas Intermediate plunged more than 20% from late April to mid-June as the U.S.-China trade war intensified. It’s since recovered some of those losses, partly as a result of the rising tension between Washington and Tehran, and is trading near $56 a barrel.“A further escalation in U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods could jointly drive global economic growth a lot lower and encourage Iran-China cooperation,” Bank of America Merrill Lynch said in a June note. “If Chinese refiners start to purchase Iran oil in large volumes on a sustained basis as U.S. tariffs rise again, WTI could drop to $40 a barrel.”\--With assistance from Nick Wadhams. To contact Bloomberg News staff for this story: Serene Cheong in Singapore at scheong20@bloomberg.net;Sarah Chen in Beijing at schen514@bloomberg.net;Alfred Cang in Singapore at acang@bloomberg.netTo contact the editors responsible for this story: Serene Cheong at scheong20@bloomberg.net, Andrew JanesFor more articles like this, please visit us at bloomberg.com©2019 Bloomberg L.P.
