Senator Warren swears off expensive campaign fundraisers

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren will hold no political fundraising events with pricey admission fees to collect cash to fuel her bid for the Democratic nomination for president, she announced Monday morning, becoming the first candidate to formally swear-off the traditional means of campaign funding....

Instead of fundraisers with large entry fees, Warren will have to depend mainly on contributions collected online or from supporters willing to chip in smaller donations, known as “grassroots” supporters....

Since party nominees have typically hosted expensive fundraisers to help others in their party, if Warren wins the nomination her rejection of fundraisers could curb the spending power of other Democratic candidates for congressional offices.

“There are some Democrats who are so deeply afraid of losing to Donald Trump that they don’t want to risk saying or doing anything different at all,” she wrote to supporters.

Fundraising events with big admission fees attract the financial elite, to see and be seen.  And these expensive events raise questions about political influence of some of the guests on the candidate.

Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders are now among the few democratic competitors for the nomination, that raise most of their campaign funds through small, grassroots donations.  That is the most democratic way to fund a campaign.  They are very close in their political views.  I would love to see them join forces.  I think that together, they would be unstoppable.

It would really be something from where we have recently been to see candidates totally unbeholden to large donors, maybe it had to get as bad as Trump to see things turn for the better, l really like what Warren proposes to fix prescription costs and maybe we can see the tax code fixed to where we can finally achieve balanced budgets. Ultimately the message has got to be sent and resent so that people who want a fair and equitable government will go to the polls consistently so we never allow corruptness get the hold they had the past 2 years.

i HOPE, it will be seen as a big slap in the face of Citizen United,

So that we can all start to see how such a horrible decision the Supreme Court

made must not stand.

And yes, there are many others that require correction.

Just why was the constitution written, I thought it was meant to foster a burgeoning democracy

for all the people - the declaration of independence in spirit, like the Green New Deal,

Just what makes us stronger, as citizens,

How should we get involved, where are our individual voices regardless

of how much wealth has been extracted by exploitation of workers in the past

present.  Jurist Prudence with a united and pragmatic goal to protect all.
