The better way would be to provide medicare for the vets instead of

If put into effect, the proposed rules — many of whose details remain unclear as they are negotiated within the Trump administration — would be a win for the once-obscure Concerned Veterans for America, an advocacy group funded by the network founded by the billionaire industrialists Charles G. and David H. Koch, which has long championed increasing the use of private sector health care for veterans.

Deliberate Disinformation Behind Massive Measles Outbreak!!!!

February 13, 2019

"According to a 2018 study by the American Journal of Public Health, combating the problem has been made even more difficult by Russian trolls spreading disinformation on the subject . As ThinkProgress has previously documented, Kremlin-backed disinformation agents have specifically focused on wedge issues designed to divide Americans — like Black Lives Matter and immigration issues. Anti-vaccination, it seems, has also fallen into that category.

“Whereas bots that spread malware and unsolicited content disseminated antivaccine messages, Russian trolls promoted discord,” the study’s conclusion read. “Accounts masquerading as legitimate users create false equivalency, eroding public consensus on vaccination.” According to the paper, which analyzed a sample of 1.7 million tweets between July 2014 and September 2017, Russian trolls tweet about vaccines at a rate 22 times higher than the average user."

Hey, dummy, the government was already paying for it. They were the single payer before and are single payer after this takes effect. The only difference is that veterans were DYING at the government run facilities, so now they are gonna let the vets go somewhere that doesn't kill them. And it will cost more.

You can pretty-much depend on the U.S. military to do the most-practical-thing.....when it comes to logistics.

Article say's nothing about single payer, you just like to claim it. But I did find some interesting things you conveniently left out.

Such as:

Critics, which include nearly all of the major veterans’ organizations, say that paying for care in the private sector would starve the 153-year-old veterans’ health care system, causing many hospitals to close.

“We don’t like it,” said Rick Weidman, executive director of Vietnam Veterans of America. “This thing was initially sold as to supplement the V.A., and some people want to try and use it to supplant.”

Or...

A scandal over hidden waiting lists in 2014 sent Congress searching for fixes, and in the years since, Republicans have pushed to send veterans to the private sector, while Democrats have favored increasing the number of doctors in the V.A.

Or this little gem...

A 2016 report ordered by Congress, from a panel called the Commission on Care, analyzed the cost of sending more veterans into the community for treatment and warned that unfettered access could cost well over $100 billion each year.

I actually think the cost would be higher than $100 billion. And remember, that's $100 billion ON TOP of the existing budget. How much will the VA have to pay outside doctors so see vets? My guess is they pay a much lower rate (Medicare rates?), and doctors are willing to see vets at those rates because its a limited number of patients. If you increase the number of patients, provider will have to start charging more to cover the increase of patients whose claims are paid at lower reimbursement rates. This will raise overall costs.

I'm still laughing over this one. The government is basically admitting they suck at providing healthcare but we have the stupid, idiotic left calling for socialized healthcare.......🤣

p.s. The government collecting money and paying for privately owned and administered healthcare is not socialism.....

I've posted it before. I don't save the stuff. Google is your friend.

Here is an old article. Budget was lower in 2012. The basic rule of thumb is, Medicare/Medicaid fraud runs at about 10% of whatever the budget is. They only catch 10%. or so.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/merrillmatthews/2012/05/31/medicare-and-medicaid-fraud-is-costing-taxpayers-billions/#64fffa5d7331

Here's today's figures. https://www.cms.gov/research-statistics-data-and-systems/statistics-trends-and-reports/nationalhealthexpenddata/nhe-fact-sheet.html

More old info but still telling. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicare_fraud

"The total amount of Medicare fraud is difficult to track, because not all fraud is detected and not all suspicious claims turn out to be fraudulent. According to the Office of Management and Budget, Medicare "improper payments" were $47.9 billion in 2010, but some of these payments later turned out to be valid.[2] The Congressional Budget Office estimates that total Medicare spending was $528 billion in 2010.[3]"

"The Justice Department has used the False Claims Act to recover more than $7.7 billion from January 2009 to June 2012 in cases involving fraud against federal health care programs.[16]"

That's interesting!

This article shows that shows that the evil Private Medicare advantage plans serve 34% of all Medicare beneficiarys, but only accounts for 27% of the money lost to fraud. Hmmmmm.

Medieval Diseases

March 8, 2019

"Infectious diseases—some that ravaged populations in the Middle Ages—are resurging in California and around the country, and are hitting homeless populations especially hard.

Los Angeles recently experienced an outbreak of typhus—a disease spread by infected fleas on rats and other animals—in downtown streets. Officials briefly closed part of City Hall after reporting that rodents had invaded the building.

People in Washington State have been infected with the diarrheal disease shigella, spread through feces, as well as Bartonella quintana, or trench fever, which spreads through body lice.

Hepatitis A, also spread primarily through feces, infected more than 1,000 people in Southern California in the past two years. The disease also has erupted in New Mexico, Ohio, and Kentucky, primarily among people who are homeless or use drugs.

Public-health officials and politicians are using terms like disaster and public-health crisis to describe the outbreaks, and they are warning that these diseases can easily jump beyond the homeless population."

The VA has always been  single  payer.

Fenix is a  moron.

Trump is trying to  fix  the  mess  created by Obama who oversaw the biggest allotment of  money to VA ever and people  died waiting for car while Obama handed out  bonuses
