Not my first choice, but Biden gets it done in 2020...

Recommended Posts

He's got terrific foreign policy experience and knowledge.  He's got terrific general experience, been a Senator, VP and he's well regarded in DC.   He has an interesting story.  Lost his wife and young daughter to a car crash as a young father and husband.   Lost his son Beau a few years ago.  He's been through tough times.  Most of all, I think he can connect with Rust Belt voters with his Scranton background.

He's viewed as a centrist, but I see him as a progressive who may be more inclined to push left because the world needs a left America.  We need to be green, innovative, believing in science and pragmatism.

And sure, he's prone to gaffes, but come on, Trump has blown up that train.  Trump has a dozen gaffes a day.  Biden's biggest gaffes aren't even a Monday afternoon story for Trump.

Most of all, he can beat Trump.  He can win PA, OH, WI and MI.  He'll be able to punch back on Trump the way Hillary never could because of the appearance of it.

Biden is okay. He's too conservative for my support but let him advocate his policies.

I'll say this ... he tried to tell Obama that he was Stuck On Stupid about the surge in Iraq.   And during the first campaign (2008), while Obama's running mate, he said that Obama's plan was a very bad idea and would likely cost American lives.  And it did.    Of course, the solution for Iraq that Biden wanted was misguided too.  He wanted to set up three hostile states.   War between them would have been inevitable.   Biden's plan would have ensured a very bloody proxy war that drew in all Iraq's neighbors, the US and the Russians. Of course, that essentially happened anyway, thanks to Obama's stupidity.   And let's not forget that later on (2011), Biden was crowing that Iraq was “sovereign, stable and self-reliant,” and hailed that as one of Obama’s “great achievements.”   When in fact it was anything but ... so I'm sure Biden is foreign policy genius you think he is, IOIOIE.

I see him as a progressive

He certainly is that.  According to the National Journal's analysis of the 2007 votes in the Senate, Biden was the 3rd most liberal/leftist member.   Biden was more liberal/leftist than 94% of the Senate on economic issues; 88% of the Senate on social issues; and 94% of the Senate on foreign issues.  His composite "Liberal/Leftist" score was 94.2%.     Now compare Biden's score with that of Bernie Sanders, who came in fourth that year. Bernie was only more liberal than 90% of the Senate on economic issues; 88% of the Senate on social issues; and 98% of the Senate on foreign issues. His composite "liberal" score was only 93.7%.   And Bernie openly calls himself a socialist.   So perhaps "progressive" is not the right term for Biden?  Perhaps Gingrich was correct in describing Biden as a "good English socialist."     What sort of legislation has Biden championed that's socialist in character?

One item that comes immediately to mind is the "Global Poverty Act" ... that Obama sponsored while in the Senate.   That legislation would have committed

the US to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.

That's pretty massive redistribution of wealth.

And according to http://www.aim.org/aim-column/obamas-international-socialist-connections/ , the Global Poverty Act was "rushed through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, with the assistance of Democratic Senator Joe Biden, the chairman".

Or how about this example:

Task: What do you think of the charge that this is a redistribution of wealth? Even the New York Times, famously liberal, said, “The Health Care bill is the federal government’s biggest attack on economic inequality since inequality began rising more than three decades ago.”

Biden: Look, It’s a simple proposition to us: Everyone is entitled to adequate medical health care … snip … If you call that a ‘redistribution of income’ — well, so be it. I don’t call it that. I call it just being fair

So Biden certainly sounds like a hardcore socialist trying to defend massive redistribution of wealth.

Or consider the fact that he was put in charge of the Stimulus by Obama.   And what was the Stimulus?   Little more than redistribution of wealth, much of it to Obama's cronies.

When Obama was challenged about it by Joe The Plumber, he didn't deny it.  No, he boasted "when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody."

And Biden was put in charge of doing that.

Because he's a hardcore socialist who dreams of taking YOUR money and giving it to someone else.

If you believe that, then you can neither believe in AGWalarmism or the gnomes of mainstream astrophysics.   Is that true?
