Any hope for Republican Senators waking up?

Recommended Posts

The way I see it at this point, since we can't rely on election cycles and voting to escape the Trump chaos that is going on currently, Republican senators need to finally decide they have ridden the Trump horse as far as it can go and it's time for the adults to take charge again. They need to decide amongst themselves that they are going to get rid of Trump and let someone else take over the presidency- Pence or maybe Romney, by working with the House on impeachment. Any ideas on what the chances of this are and whether this is where the breaking point for Trump will occur? Many of these senators are now upset with how Trump pulled troops out of Syria and drove off two of the U.S.'s top military men.

It's really tough to make a prediction involving the time of a future event.  What you say about Republican's having every reason to be fed up with Trump is accurate.  I would take a wild guess that Republican senators are waiting until after Jan 3, when Democrats take over in the House of Representatives.   Once divided government is in full swing, it might be easier to plan a course of action.

Why do you think a divided government would make it easier for them to turn on Trump? Confusion and chaos? And is the only thing holding them back fear of Trumptards? I mean, if he were impeached Pence would take over. Why would they hesitate?

Because, sometimes politics makes for strange bedfellows.

Once House investigation get underway, Trump's popularity will likely reach new lows, reducing the political penalty Republicans would have to pay, for impeachment.

Republican Senators are already aware of trump's flaws. trump has a 90% approval from the Republican Party, and that's what matters to them.

Republicans only oppose trump when they are leaving office. They don't have the balls to stand up to him otherwise----putting their politics above what is good and necessary for the country. The republican party is not what it was 15 or even 10 years ago

So true, it seems Fox news is running the country

The Rs are just waiting to see what comes out of the Muller report and other investigations there will be a tipping point when absolute proof of Trumps criminal activity will force the Rs to act. Same as with Nixon no politician is going to give up their career to defend Trump.  Trump seems to think some bunch of Nazis are going to storm the White House to keep him in power I truly hope that happens so the government can lock them all up.

No, the Senate Republicans won't budge, because there's one more goody they can shake out of the bag. They expect to confirm another conservative Supreme Court judge soon.

They see that Ruth Bader Ginsburg is nearly 86, and has had multiple health issues. They assume that she will die or retire soon, within a year, and that Trump will hand them another young-ish conservative nominee to confirm.

Possibly they'll flip after that, if the Mueller report gives conclusive proof of treason (in the informal, non-legal sense of the word).

They may be disappointed. RBG is tough and understands her place in history. If the Republicans wait too long, the albatross that is Trump will be hung on them for at least one senate election and one presidential election.

But if those low-life Republicans turn on Trump, Pence would replace him. Why don't they want that? It would make things a lot easier for them.

Why would they be forced to take down Trump if Mueller finds illegal activity? Would they legally be required to? Won't they still crap in their pants in fear of the Trumptards in the rural areas?

Also, if we get rid of the R's in 2020 in the Senate, Trump would at that point be done, right?

When Trump is impeached, the white supremacists "🎵 are gonna cry 🎸🎶 tiny-sick tears" 🎶  but won't vote.  Because Pence doesn't give them a tiny-sick boner. Trump does. (Ask Kanye.)

So they'll lose a big segment if their support.
