The Most Liberal Thread Ever

Yes I rarely engage in any dialogue with them but when I do I mostly just ask for real proof of any assertion they make without countering a different view so they can't attack my position  but feel the burdens on them. Usually they either go away or claim my beliefs won't allow me to see it their way so proof is irrelevant.

For most of them, evidence and proof are irrelevant.  What's important is to thwart, frustrate and annoy lefties.  It doesn't matter to them it they use false evidence, slurs, baseless assertions,  or actual facts.   It has been instilled in them that the survival of their tribe takes precedence over any other consideration.

Last count has Lamb up by 847 votes for the House seat in Pennsylvania. Almost celebration time in the most liberal thread ever!

Daily Kos Elections Morning Digest

PA-18 (special): On Tuesday night, Democrat Conor Lamb pulled off a stunning victory in the special election for Pennsylvania's dark red 18th Congressional District, narrowly edging out Republican Rick Saccone by a 49.8 to 49.6 margin when we put the Digest to bed. While absentee ballots in two of the district's four counties, as well as a small number of overseas and provisional ballots, had yet to be tallied, the gap was all but impossible for Saccone to make up, and Lamb declared victory in the wee hours Wednesday morning, though Saccone did not concede.

But I won't rest easy until Saccone concedes because Republicans are full of dirty tricks.

Pennsylvania redrew their House District maps and the Republicans tried to appeal. The Republicans had them gerrymandered before and wanted to keep them that way. But the Supreme Court ruled for the new maps to stay. Republicans LOSE!

Gerrymandering is the most blatant form of defeating Democracy and foiling the actual results of a vote.  Both parties practice this abuse and it needs to be abolished.  But Republicans are now, by far the major offenders.  Through gerrymandering, they hold power through deception and perfidy.

But unlike Democrats, they employ every other form of underhanded election cheating known to man, including sending out false information, to likely Democrats, on voting places and times ....  Requiring voter ID that only Democrats are unlikely to have ....  Anonymous donations by plutocrats using the deliberately misnamed "Citizen's United" decision ....  Claiming the obsolete "Electoral College" is legitimate ....  Changing registered Democrats to "unregistered", on paper ....  Flipping the results of elections in electronic voting machines ....  And any other dishonest way to make sure the democratic process fails.

The Republican Party today is the enemy of the people and the Constitution;  And they are the friend of rule by tyranny of a small handful of the economic elite.  This should never have happened in the United States of America.

Trump congratulated Putin on his "victory" in the elections over there despite being warned in a leaked memo "DO NOT CONGRATULATE"

And now Trump is furious!

The liberal thread REJOICES!

Also, Saccone conceded the race in Pennsylvania to Lamb today!

More evidence of Der Trumpkopf's authoritarian ambitions.  First he said that someday he might duplicate Xi Jinping's "president for life" title.  And now he congratulates Putin on supposedly winning a transparently sham election.  Putin left no stone unturned, disqualifying his closest rival from even running for office.

Trump invariably disregards all responsible suggestions, in this case, from multiple national security advisors.  Instead, he says whatever comes into his head.  Of course he admires Putin for his dishonesty.  Given Trump's lack of self-control, talks with Kim Jong-Un could yield some very surprising results ...  And not in a good way.

This in a deep red state, heavily gerrymandered by Republicans.  Trump went all-out, stumping for Saccone.  And Republican dark money poured into Saccone's war chest.  All this, a good sign that a blue tidal wave may be building in our Nation.

From Politicus:

Quote

A Tidal Wave Of Americans Are Moving Toward Democrats Ahead Of The Midterm

A new Pew study found that the Democratic base is growing while Republicans are losing identification with whites and male voters ahead of the midterm. The Democratic base is growing Women and college graduates increasingly align with Democratic Party

Okay, the finding of a reputable poll.  But will they bother to actually vote in the midterm.  We will see.

Today was the largest march in U.S. history, the march For Our Lives protest by students nationwide and beyond in protest of gun violence.

Contards are hiding their guns under their floor boards.

Kids are tired of not feeling safe at school and I don't blame them. We saw this today with what was probably the largest protest in American history. They are going to vote in the coming elections.

This thread is where we need to see how liberal we can be. It is also a place to catalogue events like liberal victories.

The most recent liberal victory was Doug Jones winning the Senate seat in ALABAMA!

And Democrats just recently flipped about fifteen seats in the Virginia state House while winning the Governor's race there and in New Jersey!

2018 may be a wave for Democrats!

We can also post ideas for liberals. I have one idea. Liberals should start a nationwide business that makes cakes for gay and lesbian couples. Then they won't have a problem finding a cake anymore. And a liberal business person would get rich.

See that was really LIBERAL!

Your turn!

Might help if we knew the lib definition.

for the individual and small gov.

from the Latin liber = free?

What is your position on Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security?

Everybody needs to post the reason to vote for the Democratic House candidate or Senate candidate to all their friends on social media. I did.

Agreed.  And we need to raise the minimum wage to at least 20 dollars an hour to combat the increasing wealth gap and get people out of poverty.

We don't need to build a wall between the US and Mexico.  But a massive national effort to repair our crumbling infrastructure would be a shot in the arm to the economy ....  Repair of highways and bridges.  Possibly, a high speed rail system to wean us off less efficient private vehicles.  And a shift from burning of fossil fuels to renewable energy sources like solar and wind, wherever possible with current technology.  Rooftop solar has proven incredibly efficient and larger tax credits are needed to encourage its use.

I'll do you one better- we need job retraining program for our people, similar to this program in Ontario: http://www.secondcareerontario.com/web/second_career/

Welcome to the forum leekohler2.  And thanks for the link.  It's an excellent program that we would do well to emulate.  We need to get over this often self-defeating idea of "American Exceptionalism".

Agreed, we also need to be more proactive instead of reactive. That program alone would go a long way to helping people who really need a way out of poverty or a low-income situation. Right now, all we do is throw money at people, which is nothing more than a band-aid.

Oh, and thank you. I'm happy to have found this place. I've given up trying to debate with conservatives. They prefer to live in a fantasy world instead reality. And facts are alien to them.

Free collage, medicare for all, legalize all drugs, let all non violent drug offenders out of prison, out law private prisons, require any gun owner to pass a course, no semi-auto weapons, replace all the various welfare programs with Universal Basic Income, limit pay for heads of companies to 20 times what the lowest paid workers get, end subsidies for oil companies, give subsidies to companies that develop renewable energy, limit political donations to $100.00 per person or company, corporations are not people, outlaw gas and diesel vehicles by 2025

Instead of Medicare for all, Medicaid for all. People should not have to pay premiums.

And let people keep their gas-powered cars for now.

The rest is okay.
