Yes, you are correct. However, not all expansions and contractions are identical in scale. Negative GDP growth can be as small as -.01% or as large as the great depression.

Copy that. So what you are reading is predicting (relatively small) negative GDP growth at some point in the near future?

 

It seems we could break the 4% level for the first time in...forever.

Economies are cyclical. That cyclical nature is tied to human nature not arbitrary factors such as the R or D next to the name of the President.

I am talking about the macroeconomy not the Stock Market. The ups and downs of the stock market do not translate to the average person (macroeconomy) until you aggregate it at a six month time horizon.
