We can make America great again!

Recommended Posts

We can make America great again by removing Trump and Pence from office. They lied and cheated their way in, and that shouldn't be rewarded.

We can make America great again by ending Republican gerrymandering of legislative and Congressional districts. yeah, both sides do it, but Republicans took it from an effort to obtain a political advantage to an effort to disenfranchise as many people as possible -- even redistricting in between censuses, which no one has ever done before.

We can make America great again by getting rid of the electoral college. It's bad enough that the US Senate gives small states an unfair over-representation, but the electoral college doesn't do the thing it was created to do -- serve as the final fail safe against electing a corrupt or incompetent president.

We can make America great again by ending Republican voter suppression efforts, and reenacting the Voting Rights Act. Republicans can't win elections in a fair debate among an informed electorate, so their strategy is to shrink the size of the electorate. The more eligible voters who participate in our democracy, the better.

We can make America great again by getting the money out of politics. Money is not speech. Corporations, interest groups, and richers should not be able to spend unlimited sums, and they should not be allowed to spend anonymously.

We can make America great again by ending the revolving door. People should not be able to work for the government or military, become lobbyists dealing with the same agencies they used to work for, and then go back to work for government or the military, and then go back to lobbying. We all know that when these lobbyists enter government, they're doing the bidding of the employer they intend to go back to work for. They are NOT doing the bidding of the people.

We can make America great again by insisting the rich people and corporations pay their fair share of taxes. The tax breaks ALWAYS go to them, and not to the poor, the middle class, or the working class. They don't reinvest their money and create a trickle down effect for everyone else -- they hoard it, to the detriment of everyone else.

We can make America great again by reasonably regulating the business world. "Unleashing" corporations is code that really means they can steal, injure, and poison with impunity. If you can't run your business without hurting your workers, pouring waste into the air and water, or cheating your customers, then maybe you shouldn't have a business. If your intent is to use your business influence to skew the political process, like with media outlet consolidation, or ending Internet Neutrality, then maybe you shouldn't be allowed -- on the grounds that it biases the political process.

We can make America great again by paying workers a living wage. CEOs make 250 or more times what their average workers make. THAT is ridiculous. No executive is worth more than his subordinates. Pay the workers what they're worth, and pay the executives what they're worth. But quit letting the executives rob the place blind at the expense of the people who actually produce the goods and services.

We can make America great again by creating and implementing a universal, single-payer health care system. Whether you live or die should not depend on how rich you are as an individual. People should not increase the health risk to others by being compelled to work when they're sick. They should not put of wellness care for lack of funds, only to have more serious, more expensive health problems later.

We can make America great again by making university and trade school education free. There's no reason people should have to take on massive debt in student loans to obtain a trade or complete a college degree.

Those things would be easily affordable if the rich and the corporations paid their fair share. Taxes are supposed to be proportional -- the more you earn, the greater your obligation to the system that enabled it, and so the more you pay.

THAT'S the beginnings of MY plan for making America great again. You can't tell me it's not better than Trump's windbaggery, ignorance, corruption, and incompetence.

The easiet and fairest way to do district's, if we need it at all, is to just checker board America into square districts of say 100 miles. Then every four years, switch the partys to the other districts.

Or we could practice some self awareness. Both Clinton and Trump are liars and cheaters. So one played the game better. Honestly, it is a sad statement about Americans that we know/realize that both were worthless and still elected one of them. What does that say about Americans?

We are all willing participants who have allowed and keep allowing our Government to impose its will on all of us?

Maybe a better question would be......

If our government is as corrupt and broken as we all know it is why do we have so much faith in it actually changing its tune?

And to be clear I mean both parties who have shared the whitehouse exclusively.

you watch too much Faux....Hillary can't hold a candle to Tramp or anyone in his party

No way to prove this but I watch less network or cable TV than anyone on this forum. Less than 1 hour per month. That was a nice try, though.

Agreed. Ask most intelligent people who care about politics and they will tell you that the government is dishonest, corrupt, and not to be taken at its word. And then they turn around and defend one side or the other.

The discussion was with WhiteMajikman who seems to be reasonable and rational.

Neither does The Pig. 3 million more Americans did not vote for him.

FIRST of all, you are speaking of PRESIDENT Trump. You can get farther by showing a bit of RESPECT for that fact.

Second, none of that "3 million" means jack s'hit. You don't get elected by winning the "popular vote" and there is NO CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to even VOTE for President.

I am guilty of taking a side at times and I think most people are but what is lost in all of this is that I Don't think any of us agrees wholeheartedly with either party but we get lumped into this side or that side by our critics and in trying to defend our positions we get labelled left or right .

It is how our government keeps us divided and in turn keeps themselves insulated from any real revolt that threatens them.

You are an idiot.

There are over 350 million Americans ......

The democrats and republicans only had 129 million votes combined.

So you don't really speak for the majority of Americans and nether do the republicans but you both like to think that you do.
