Saxena It’s always the same reason with them. The Black Students’ Organization at Columbia University filed a proposal late last month requesting that the school’s chapter of the College Republicans be defunded because it finds the group’s guest speakers to be offensive and racist. “We do not support, in any capacity, giving a platform to beliefs that blatantly oppose our livelihood and humanity, and especially not in the name of intellectual diversity,” the group wrote in its proposal, according to Reason magazine. “These ‘opinions’ are not disagreeable or deeply offensive. They are an attack on our existence. They spew racial hatred and violence, and any slight observation of history and its aftermaths can prove that.” Blah, blah, blah, blah … The speakers in question were Tommy Robinson, the founder of the anti-Islam English Defence League, and Mike Cernovich, a contributor at Alex Jones’ Info Wars. Robinson is controversial because he’s had the temerity to label Islam a fascist and “violent” ideology that incites murder, according to the Columbia Daily Spectator, while Cernovich is controversial over his connections to the so-called alt-right. “Why are we talking in the U.K. about a rise in Nazism?” Robinson noted during a speech at the university last month. “There’s about 50 Nazis in the whole of Britain. There are 23,000 Muslims on the terror watchlist. To compare the two or even give them an equal platform is ridiculous.” Fair point. That speech wound up being shut down early because of radical leftist protesters, spurring the university to launch an investigation. After the school announced that charges were being dropped against the thugs who shut down Robinson’s speech, the Workers World Party, a genuine communist group in the U.S., penned a piece lavishing praise on the students for winning the “latest battle against white supremacy.” *rolling eyes* As for Cernovich, he spoke successfully a couple weeks later, though he faced an astonishing amount of jeers and insults from the university’s leftist nut jobs: Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
