Russia is moving back into Ukraine

Trump administration does nothing.

Russian President Vladimir Putin plans on fully separating the Donbas, two areas of Ukraine that border Russia, by gradually integrating them into Russia, according to a report by Bloomberg. One senior Russian diplomat explained that the Trump administration seemed “totally uninterested” in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, instead focusing more on North Korea and Syria, and that this had resulted in mixed signals from Washington.

Further complicating matters is the news that ExxonMobil, the oil corporation of which Secretary of State Rex Tillerson used to be CEO, applied to the Treasury Department for a waiver from American sanctions against Russia, according to a report by the The Wall Street Journal. These efforts were undertaken more assertively after Tillerson became Secretary of State. If granted, this would allow ExxonMobil to pick up where it left off in a joint venture it had with Rosneft, a Russian-state owned oil corporation. In particular, ExxonMobil would like to drill with Rosneft in areas that are barred by the current sanctions.

While the geopolitical quagmire in Russia and Ukraine worsens due to the Trump administration’s unclear policy stances, Russian journalist Nikolai Andrushchenko died on Wednesday after suffering a severe beating from unknown assailants, according to a report by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. He had been unconscious since the assault on March 9 and never regained consciousness. Denis Usov, the editor of the newspaper that Andrushchenko founded (Novy Petersburg), claims that the attacks were motivated by articles Andrushchenko had written criticizing corruption in St. Petersburg.

1998 to 2000

In 1998, Exxon and Mobil signed a US$73.7 billion merger agreement forming a new company called Exxon Mobil Corp. (ExxonMobil), the largest oil company and the third largest company in the world. This was the largest corporate merger that time. At the time of the merge, Exxon was the world's largest energy company while Mobil was the second largest oil and gas company in the United States. The merger announcement followed shortly after merger of British Petroleum and Amoco which was the largest industrial merger that time.[60] Formally, Mobil was bought by Exxon. Mobil's shareholders received 1.32 Exxon's share for each Mobil's share. As a result, the former Mobil's shareholders receives about 30% in the merged company while the stake of former Exxon's shareholders was about 70%. The head of Exxon Lee Raymond remained the chairman and chief executive of the new company and Mobil chief executive Lucio Noto became vice-chairman.[60] The merger of Exxon and Mobil was unique in American history because it reunited the two largest companies of Standard Oil trust.[61]

The merger was approved by the European Commission on September 29, 1999, and by the United States Federal Trade Commission on November 30, 1999.[62][63] As a condition for the Exxon and Mobil merger, the European Commission ordered to dissolve the Mobil's partnership with BP, as also to sell its stake in Aral.[39] As a result, BP acquired all fuels assets, two base oil plants, and a substantial part of the joint venture's finished lubricants business, while ExxonMobil acquired other base oil plants and a part of the finished lubricants business.[64] The stake in Aral was sold to Vega Oel, later acquired by BP.[39] The European Commission also demanded divesting of Mobil's MEGAS and Exxon's 25% stake in the German gas transmission company Thyssengas.[65] MEGAS was acquired by Duke Energy and the stake in Thyssengas was acquired by RWE.[66][66] The company also divested Exxon's aviation fuel business to BP and Mobil's certain pipeline capacity servicing Gatwick Airport.[67] The Federal Trade Commission required to sell 2,431 gas stations in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic (1,740), California (360), Texas (319), and Guam (12). In addition, ExxonMobil should sell its Benicia Refinery in California, terminal operations in Boston, the Washington, D.C. area and Guam, interest in the Colonial pipeline, Mobil's interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, Exxon's jet turbine oil business, and give-up the option to buy Tosco Corporation gas stations.[68][69] The Benicia Refinery and 340 Exxon-branded stations in California were bought by Valero Energy Corporation in 2000.

Exxon never should have been allowed to merge w/ Mobil.

Who was running the Commerce and Treasury depts at that time?

Ukraine isn't even a real country. Crimea was a part of Russia since the 1700s. It was only given to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic inside of the USSR by UKRAINIAN leader Nikita Khruschev, who happened to be the USSR's leader...

Wake up, people.

George Washington actually warned us about this in his farewell address.

Now Shito wants a war in Korea AND Russia at the same time.

Brilliant.

Shito once again hasn't read the news, or he's a liar. This request by Exxon was denied by the Administration last week.

Dumbass

First off, Russia did not invade Crimea, nor did Russia plan and orchestrate a soft coup against the Ukraine that was Victoria Nuland and the good ole U.S.A who are responsible for the Coup and the ukraine's current anti-russian stance.

The people of Crimea voted to rejoin Russia and there was International observers present during the voting process which totally undermined Victoria's false narrative that the Russians tampered with the results.

It is the same modus operandi that Hillary used against Trump and Russia which has now led usually normal rational people to keep reciting Hillary's false narrative of Russian Hacking and election tampering.

Your memory of the events leading up to ww2 is flawed because WE were not at war with germany when Hitler was invading

Those countries that he would eventually conqour which is why your premise is wrong from the start.

It is a false narrative that Russia hacked and tampered with the election and you are an idiot for believing it.

When the worlds top cyber security experts as well as former NSA personnel who are privy to our Cyber security states that there is no evidence of Russian hacking or tampering I tend to believe the experts.

Ukraine is a country because the Ukrainians say it is a country. The Crimea had a population that was neither majority Russian or Ukrainian.

Ukraine has been horribly managed by politicians of every ideology. I do not support Russia annexing the Donbas, but neither do I think the US should arm the Ukrainians, just as I do not think that the US should take sides over Kashmir, Dnestria, Ossetia or Nagorny Karabakh: it is not our fight, it is none of our business, we could not win in any case.

The Russians clearly messed with our elections, and we need to oppose this.

Sanctions against Russia are in order. Further than that I would not want to go.

[siz8e=6]Sanctions against Russia are in order.

It's apparent that you have bought into the rediculous notion that the Russians somehow tampered with the election considering Hillary and Podesta were discussing using Russia as a scapegoat in the E-mails courtesy of wikileaks and those E-mails were timestamped way before the primaries when Hillary was confident of a landslide win and if you were actually paying attention over the last 2 years you would have no choice but to admit that Obama and the Dems were doing everything in their power to sow anti-russian sentiment at home and abroad in order to appease their military industrial supporters who are now reaping record profits from arms sales due to us spreading anti-russian hysteria through-out Europe.

Do you realize that sanctions are being used as weapons by our government to try and bully anyone who opposes our imperialistic ambitions and those sanctions are never accompanied by proof.

In other words our idiot leaders are using lies and innuendo and spreading those lies and innuendo to the public in order to justify sanctions.

They lied about Assad using chemical weapons on his own people when clearly there was no evidence to support such a claim and have tried to block any unbiased investigation by an international team of investigators.

Maybe you should start to realize that our government and its foreign policy ambitions have gone rogue and will lie, cheat and steal in order to control the outcome.

Is that not evil or what?
