Why we have Trump

Recommended Posts

She didn't win the EC, enough states,

Finished 2nd where it counted

You said "the majority" and she won the majority. Your argument lost.

The majority of Americans did not agree with you.

Last I heard, she was seen wandering around the woods behind her Chappaqua estate. Maybe she was headed to a NSA briefing or something?

She would have, but for the back-stabbing of leftists.

She would have

If she could have beaten a third rate candidate

Did you miss her high Negative numbers going into the race, or did you just choose to ignore them also?

There was no "back stabbing." This liberal was consistent about his stance from the start. I openly stated that if Hillary won the nomination that I would not vote for her.

She did beat a third rate candidate, his name was Bernie Sanders.

Leftists attacks that mirrored those of the extreme right in every respect (along with non-voting by the same) were responsible for the margin of loss in the electorial college.

The responsibility for Trump falls on those who enabled his win.

Bernie was potentially our generation's FDR. He would have made a wonderful president.

Only the voters who cast their vote for Trump enabled his win. Most of those who stayed home, left the presidential section blank, or voted for Jill Stein were LIBERALS who, for whatever reason, did not like Hillary enough to vote for her.

No. Bernie Sanders was this generations Huey Long. FDR inspired people not to have fear and to instead exude optimism. Not Bernie Sanders.

Bernie Sanders was a fear-monger who engaged scapegoating and demagoguery to spread rancor and his pessimistic outlook.

FDR rejected angry populism. I'm sure he would have been appalled by the tactics of Bernie Sanders, just as he was with Sanders mirror-image Huey Long.

Nope. Your blind and puzzing hatred of the man doesn't change the facts. He is this generation's FDR. If you don't believe that, tens of millions of others do. Bernie is inspirational and will continue to fight for the working class. Despite his loss in the primaries, he continues to sell out major venues. People still want to hear what he has to say.

My eyes are wide open when it comes to Bernie Sanders. His approach is virtually indistinguishable from the "Share the Wealth" platform of populist demagogue Huey Long during the 1930s.

FDR called Huey Long one of the two most dangerous men in America. There isn't a chance that FDR would have embraced Bernie Sanders, as Bernie Sanders stands for the populist appeals to anger, scapegoating, and political irrationalism that FDR abhorred.

Bernie Sanders is one of the two most dangerous men in America. The other is the president of the United States thanks to people who acted like you.

That's utterly absurd. Again, Bernie is the 21st century's FDR. He's done so much for the working class (and he's not done yet).

The primary is over. The election is over. It's all ancient history.

Time for you to put on your big boy pants, get over it, and move on.

You can keep repeating the absurdities, but the truth is FDR was an opponent of the sort of populist demagoguery that Bernie Sanders embraces wholeheartedly.

Huey Long was a chief political enemy of FDR. Huey Long and Bernie Sanders are political soul-mates.

For Bernie Sander to attempt to wrap himself in the mantle of FDR is another of the Big Lies.

And Bernie Sanders has no accomplishments, save getting Trump elected which will prove to be a disaster for all Americans.

[continued Bernie bashing]

I'm really not sure what you're trying to accomplish here (except perhaps defecate all over this subforum).

You may not care for Bernie, but may people here (as well as many Americans) just love the guy.

Let. It. Go.

What I'm trying to accomplish is to stand for the truth. It ain't easy on this sub-forum where false narratives are often the order of the day.

I won't be silent as some try to warp reality to meet their ideologically predetermined outcome or to confabulate about such fantasies as Bernie Sanders being the new FDR.

Not. Going. To. Happen.

What "truth?" I don't see any false narratives, only opinions. Isn't that what political forums are for?

Many of Bernie's supporters view him as the 21st century FDR. It's an opinion. Just like you saw Hillary as a wonderful candidate. You have a right to that opinion as well.

That said, isn't it time to get over it and move forward?

If Bernie Sanders supporters believe that FDR, a vigorous opponent of populism as is established beyond doubt in the historical record, would have supported a populist like Bernie Sanders then they are either engaging in cognitive dissonance, are ignorant of FDR's record as an anti-populist, or are simply not honest about their intention to hijack the mantle of a great liberal.

But they can't get away with it.

It is hard to move forward when so-called "allies" are dragging us backward.

We have Trump because Americans were too complacent. Many now say that Bernie would have been able to win against Trump.... if one believes that, then the complacency started with Hillary.... Bernie should have been chosen. Bernie would have kept Americans awake

This response perfectly embodies the very deep problem that berners don't respect democracy. Like Trumpists, they only believe they can lose if the system is "rigged."

Bernie Sanders lost by millions of votes in legitimate primary contests.

Get over it.

Bernie supporters are nothing like Trump supporters. There are no similarities whatsoever.

Only three million......and nobody counted the caucus votes (which were estimated at - surprise, surprise - several million).

With the help of the media and various DNC shenanigans, Hillary ended up winning. It was actually very close.

That said, it's in the past. Isn't it time to move on?

Of course, Bernie Sanders supporters are similar to Trump supporters. Both backed populists who railed at the political establishment and engaged in rabble-rousing (to the delight of large and angry crowds).

We have the Tea Party and the Green Tea Party. Same tactics, just different scapegoats to blame for the nation's ills.

Populism is (and always has been) a deplorable pox on humanity. Populism is the antithesis of liberalism.

It's called democratic socialism, Bill. It's popular and it works. Trump is working to start wars, make his kids richer, defecate on human rights, and pushing a right wing agenda.

Bernie wants to help the working class in this country obtain access to affordable healthcare, a good education, and a living wage.

They aren't alike in any way.

Why must you persist in this ridiculous ranting? Hillary lost. Get over it.

No, it is called populism, and it has never "worked." Ever.

No Social Democrat—from Sweden to New Zealand—has ever walked the demagogic path that Bernie Sanders has. His are the means of tin-horns, caudillos, and wanna-be despots.

Social Democrats value the enterprises that fund their generous social programs. Social Democrats value social cohesion and reject class warfare.

Bernie Sanders isn't a Social Democrat. He is a populist (of the nativist left-wing persuasion) and he has openly embraced his affinity to populism on countless occasions.

Open your eyes man.

No, Bernie's a democratic socialist. Do some research and please deal with your obsession.

No holds barred chat

  • Hey kfools.. does this help?

  • By Vegas

    Liberals are going to hell.

  • grgle

  • Where’s at @slideman?

  • Hola

  • I know this one, this new chat thing. I've seen it called the "shoutbox" among other things in my past. Very hard to hide from the chat box. The question is asked, there's no time to go search what other folks think, this is real time. Only seconds should be between chat box replies. This one is made for me. In the chat box one has to be quick on their feet with stuff at the ready. This chat box is the worst nightmare of anyone trying to deal with ol' teach.

  • By pmurT

hey @teacher that sounds like too much work for me LOL I need that useless thing called *time* in order to authenticate facts and truths which get posted by deceitful Dems

  • What does the red number refer to? currently, on my screen it says 2

  • Where does it say 2?

  • So. In the chat....if you tag a member the text afterwards should be a private message.

  • How do? I'm teacher. If I'm online and the powers that be can figure out how to make it immediately apparent to me that whatever I've said here has been replied to I'm gonna show up right quick and kick some teeth in. It's the chat box, all this is new and scary. I know this gig. This starts now.

  • Hey kfools, did you lose your securtiy cert? On my browser it is saying your site is not secure?

  • Mine too. I'm looking into it.

  • Mine too.

  • I thought it was my location..

  • Just gave to renew the security cert. No big deal I'll do it tonight

  • OK thanks

  • Happy Anniversary, America... on your Civil Union.

Scroll the other way for a while and you'll see me saying that these days the chat box ain't gonna work as one has to be quick on one's feet. The question is posed, there ain't no stinkin time for ya'll to refer to your betters for the answer, ya'll don't understand these things, this political debate, ya'll don't have the answer at hand, ya'll haven't thought this through, ya'll ain't ready for the next question I'll ask,  ya'll can't handle the pace that a bloke such as I can bring it in the chat box, ya'll can't handle this format.

This one is made for me.
