Money-less pool: the last day of Trump's presidency.

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'm next in line. I'm all excited by where Mueller is at, Russians indicted and an American playing guilty to abetting Russian identity theft.

Since I'm next, I hope I win. :D

Realistically, even if damning enough evidence could be demonstrated for impeachment, the wheels of justice grind exceeding slow.  I wish you luck laripu but I have mixed feelings ...

For what it's worth, Omarosa Manigault-Newman recently confided on reality TV:

Quote

“We would be begging for days of Trump back if Pence became president. He’s extreme. I’m Christian, I love Jesus, but he thinks Jesus tells him to say things. I’m like, ‘Jesus ain’t saying that.’ He’s scary.”

My abridged interpretation;  If you think Trump is bad, wait 'till you get Pence.:)

I don't trust anything Omarosa says. She's a snake. I think we must rid ourselves of one abomination at a time. And also, we don't know what Mueller has on Pence. Maybe we'll get a twofer. ;) (You know how mafia works: you get a henchman to prove loyalty by having him do something terrible for you, and then you know you have dirt on him forever. Well, Trump is all about loyalty, and had many contacts with mafia in his time as a builder. I'll bet he's learned that trick.)

This is true. Justice is slow.

But politics can be quicker. Right about now every one of the Congressional politishnins (sic :)) are evaluating their position against the facts. When reality overwhelms ambition, they'll be offering the leader of the executive branch their thoughts and prayers.

How many will refuse to be chained to a sinking ship? How much loyalty do they have for Trumpelstiltskin?

Practically, though you're right. It's too soon, my date won't win. But I do think that before this time next year, we'll have to say "President Ryan".

If we elect a Democrat House and Senate, then OldBarney had a good chance.

Two things for sure need to happen first, Mueller needs to finish the investigation and Congress needs to be under democrats control. Mueller is far from done and I think once the financial evidence is brought to light on top of collusion he's going to resign to avoid jail so Pence will grant a pardon, the date is August 20, 2019.

Actually, if we *could* flip the House, yes, then the presidency would fall to the Speaker of the House should we get a twofer. So maybe if we can get rid of Trump and Pence in early 2019... that might actually be the best-case scenario..... Flipping the Senate is more likely, I think, but the President Pro Tempore of the Senate is still fourth, not third, in line of succession. So we need to flip the House.

The vileness of Trump is to strip away the power of our institutions. The legal system, the EPA, Energy, ATF, all the agencies of land management, the newly created Consumer Financial Protection Bureau  etc...

All the stuff the right-wing of the Republican party despise the most. So they must go. And Trump, well Trump is the president and as much we will need to Impeach him in the right way so as not to start some crazy constitutional war. I do think Mueller has the right stuff to get that job done. If you move too fast it won't work out well. I'm thinking maybe Fourputt and Bludog have the best dates here. But then again, we just don't know enough at this point in time. I do however feel Trump's impeachment is inevitable. It has to be to set things right!!!

Peace!

I was reading an article in WaPo today  Institution Can't Save America.  The author makes the point that " Trump is presiding over a great destabilization in American life, and his attacks on institutions are a key aspect of this uprooting."   Trump has attacked the FBI, CIA, State Dept, Mueller, and most other governmental agency's meant in part, to work in his behalf.  The only institution he has not attacked is the military.   This puts Liberals in the odd position of being allied with and defending the establishment ...  Something heretorfore mostly done by Conservatives.

Actually the senate if you can believe it is going to be tougher than the house, the 33 seats up heavily favor the repubs but there is a chance dems could squee it out. The house should flip with only 24 seats to switch, the trend is very much there let's hope the wind stays at our backs come November.

Liberals have criticized the establishment when it does wrong. Today's Trumpoids and modern conservatives since Reagan are attacking the very idea of government.

Government is necessary. Good government is desirable. Bad government is onerous. Very bad government is oppression.

No government can be perfect, nor can it be much better than the average of the people running it.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm on board with practical measures to further the common good, whether they break with normal custom or not.  In fact, being in the unusual position, as Democrats, of having to defend establishment agencies against Putin's Tool could even gain us some support from those in the middle and moderate Conservatives.

Republican policy since Reagan, has consisted of fiscal irresponsibility aimed at starving the government;  But no other Republican president has tried to discredit essential agencies like Der Trumpkopfk.  The proper role for a president who sees fault in bureaus like the FBI, CIA, Justice Department, is to try collaborate with them to fix what is wrong.  But because he feels threatened, Mein Trumpf, like the childish nut job he is, artlessly treats them as his personal enemies.  This kind of thinking might make sense in gangland USA, but not in government.

Things are heating up but I'll stick to my prediction even though I wouldn't mind seeing him out sooner.

It's just for fun anyway. Maybe bragging rights for a post or two.

I'm toying with the idea of sending the winner a little prize, but it won't be worth anything, and probably people wouldn't want to send me their address for a worthless bauble.

He successfully gets re-elected in 2020 and 2024 he removes all of Trumps executive orders in his first week. The house and senate in 2020 become super majorities for dems they repeal the Trump tax cuts, repair our standing with NATO, we rejoin the Paris climate agreement, Iran nuclear deal is resumed, the ACA is changed to single payer in 2023, Mexico's economy is starting to improve to the point of illegal crossings become so rare that by 2027 the border patrol cuts it's need for immigration officers in half.
