Instead of wasting your time here, you could be doing something useful

Like learning another language.

The app Duolingo makes this easy. You can use it on your smartphone as well as your computer.

I spent 40 years of my life teaching language, so I know a bit about motivation and language learning.

I recently started working on learning German with Duolingo. It is very effective, and automatically goes over and over the specific problems that the individual has with the words that each student finds most difficult. It is available for English speakers in almost any language you might want to learn.

Limbo could learn Arabic, for example, it would surely help him be a less negative, sullen old obsessive fart.

Sole could learn how to babble in a variety of tongues.

To learn a new language is to gain a soul. --Anatole France

The Internet has become a vast compendium of ways that a dedicated and persistent person can learn one or more languages.

To know one language puts you into a corridor for life. When you learn a language, more doors open to you.

After all, the odds that anyone is going to change the world by posting insults here (or in any other forum) will change anything are slim, to none. And that is what most of the posts here seem to be.

I've always wanted to learn German, but see no usefulness in it. I've been to Germany and Austria, and have no plans to return, at least any time soon.

I've known Spanish for decades, although I'm not fluent in it by any means.

Perhaps a refresher course there, and then French. Wife wants to take a trip to Paris, if they get a handle on their terrorism problems.

What's the word for toilet paper in Arabic?

Oh, there is none.

Golfboy:

I was going to Germany and Austria a few months ago and had a family emergency...

Did you enjoy it?

  1. I grew up in a home where German was spoken; but when I started school, the family switched to English ( around me ); because that was the language of the land.

My German is just OK.

On my mother's side, the old ladies spoke Gaelic. It was nuts.

Oh the irony. So then why are you here posting??

Typical libtard. "Do as I say, not as I do."

Tip for ya XO: go do something useful, like learning that modern-day libtard socialism is bad for America.

What is bad for America are ignorant halfwitted dolts like you.

What's the word for toilet paper in Arabic?

Oh, there is none.

What a witty riposte.

You are permanently ignorant.

Face it, Jimbo not a single one of your Irish ancestors was ever any kind of slave in this country.

You spout off about that shit because you read about it somewhere and think somehow it makes Black slavery okay.

You know how your poisoned mind works and so do I and most anything with a brain on this forum. You think that schools should be banned from teaching about Black slavery unless they expose Irish slavery.

It is f*cking obvious that since any complete history is everything that has ever happened, that all history will omit the footnotes and concentrate on the most important details.

You and Farrakhan are one of a kind. The major difference is the he has actual followers and you spend your time ranting the same tired crap every day.

LOL, I've been around long enough to know that not only are you injecting this in the thread merely to insult Jim, but that it's a bald-faced lie.

Doesn't surprise me one bit.

I guess for a libtard it's a worthwhile expenditure of time to drag up an irrelevant point and then lie about it...

I said teach the entire history of slavery in the Americas, or teach nothing.

XO - do you consider this ( these ) footnotes in our history?

During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were forcibly taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. Another 52,000 Irish (mostly women and children) were sold to Barbados and Virginia while 30,000 Irish men were sold to the highest bidder.

The difference is, the Irish were taken by armed British military; while ( so called ) black kings simply sold their own people to Arab slavers.

African slaves were very expensive during the late 1600s (50 Sterling). Irish slaves came cheap (no more than 5 Sterling). If a planter whipped or branded or beat an Irish slave to death, it was never a crime. A death was a monetary setback, but far cheaper than killing a more expensive African.

Footnotes - - - right.

Look, Jimbo, I saw that already. If you want to insist that children learn about it, it is worthless to post it to me the the umpteenth time. Go to your local school board and whine about this huge injustice on your own.I am not going to bother to read crap you posted and I have already read, I read about Irishmen being enslaved long before I came to this forum, because I study history: Irish history, Caribbean history and I do no0t question that it happened. But the fact is that it is NOT something that had even a hundredth of the importance of Black slavery in the USA. All history is condensed, In every history, details are omitted of necessity.

You missed the point entirely. My grandmother was a Brady and her grandfather owned a plantation in Georgia. But my life was not changed a whit by Irish slavery in the 1600's, and neither was yours.

You say, "Teach the entire history of slavery or teach nothing."

Well, if you taught the ENTIRE history of slavery, that would be the only subject on the damned curriculum, wouldn't it?

So what this really means, is TEACH NOTHING ABOUT IT.

Then go away.

Not even a hundredth of the importance of Black slavery? Well, that's your opinion. Although the 100s of 1,000s of Irish who were sold into slavery would probably disagree.

Caribbean? During the 1650s, over 100,000 Irish children between the ages of 10 and 14 were forcibly taken from their parents and sold as slaves in the West Indies, Virginia and New England. Irish slavery in the Americas is not even mentioned in our taxpayer funded public school history classes.

Knock yourself out I said quite clearly what he meant. He said teach the entire history of slavery or teach nothing at all.

What he meant was teach nothing at all.

It was no big deal, get over it.

You cannot make me go away.

Again, since you don't like it, go talk to your local school board. Get elected to the Sons of Hibernia and become the Phyllis Schafly of Irish Slavery in our Public Schools. See if you can get airtime on Oprah.

Here is what all those who read your repetitive rants are going to do about this problem you perceive: NOTHING.

What you are doing here is like going to the Thom McAns store in search of zucchini.

You think it is a problem, do something about it where it will do some good for your cause. Here is not the place, Now is not the time.

You are wasting your life seething in hatred and bitterness.

No, you're nose is growing again. That's NOT what you said.

Your words. Now you're misrepresenting the truth again with this latest post, and trying to change what you said.

Just admit you said it, it was wrong, and then get back to your chores Mahalia.

Then it is simply my opinion of the sick thoughts in Jimbo's mind.

I simply expressed my opinion, that is hardly a lie

It is what I believe he thinks. I might not be right about what I think, but I can express my thoughts about it because NO HOLDS ARE BARRED here.

I have not seen one useful post from you, so I am putting you on ignore, six shooter. As I said, knock yourself out.

Oprah would probably not allow me to speak; since it may level the field on slavery in the Americas.
