Lisa93 - Your post has been hidden. As a Conservative, you were asked to leave the LO Rm several times and you promised not to return each time. It looks like you don't honor your promises. You are now locked out.

Long article about it at truthout, but the short answer is shouting voter fraud again and again and again

Shouting lies, like the lie that voter fraud is a problem, is how the GOP gets its way, and is now dominating American politics like never before. And they have a bullhorn that the Democrats can only dream about ... The $$Right Wing Noise Machine$$.

Voter suppression is one of the ways that Representative Government is being hijacked by the Right. Almost total domination of the airways, including Fixed News, gerrymandering and ballot tampering are others.

We need a new voter rights struggle at the grassroots level like that of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. However it would include young people and independent voters in addition to minorities. That's no easy task since much of the problem exists in right leaning red states of the south. But it's a worthwhile cause. No free or democratic polity is sustainable if increasing numbers of people can't vote. Thanks Zaro for a good post.

Voter suppression and election fraud has been rampant for many years. I am dismayed that the Democrats don't seem to mention it, rarely if at all. Further they haven't acted to stop it or even investigate it. Until someone in a position to act does something, we won't have a democracy. The GOP has discovered that no matter how blatant the crime the democrats won't even point it out. The GOP is immune to all laws. Until the democrats get a spine, the crime spree will continue.

An increasingly large number of Democratic lawmakers have become elitists. The have abandoned the Democratic tradition of defending the economic interests of ordinary Americans in return for the opportunity to get rich taking legalized corporate and plutocrat bribes.

When one is running a highly profitable scam, it is usually better to take the money and run than to rat out even bigger players, doing the same thing and more. There are still Democrats of integrity in Washington. But enough Democrats have joined economic forces with Republicans, that the minority of FDR Democrats can't make much impact on government.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party does its own share of gerrymandering, usually to ensure that Establishment Democrats stay in and newcomers don't have a chance to win against them.

One way or another, the unrepresentative practice of gerrymandering must come to an end.

Yes. I was speaking of Democrats as a whole, not anyone in particular. I was not intending to say anything about any individual. I agree with your point however. The question becomes what do we do with democrats who colluded with the GOP to rob the public? How do we draw that line?
