"President-elect Donald Trump has pledged a $1 trillion infrastructure spending program to help jump-start an economy that he said during the campaign was in terrible shape.

Speaking on Capitol Hill Thursday, Federal Reserve Board Chair Janet Yellen warned lawmakers that as they consider such spending, they should keep an eye on the national debt. Yellen also said that while the economy needed a big boost with fiscal stimulus after the financial crisis, that's not the case now.

"The economy is operating relatively close to full employment at this point," she said, "so in contrast to where the economy was after the financial crisis when a large demand boost was needed to lower unemployment, we're no longer in that state."

Yellen cautioned lawmakers that if they spend a lot on infrastructure and run up the debt, and then down the road the economy gets into trouble, "there is not a lot of fiscal space should a shock to the economy occur, an adverse shock, that should require fiscal stimulus."

In other words, lawmakers should consider keeping their powder dry so they have more options whenever the next economic downturn comes along."

obama said all there was to say about shovel ready projects. Of course, he still blew $1 trillion anyway....with zero regard to the debt.

So you agree that spending on a stimulus plan doesn't work, so why try again? Is the Tramp stupid?

TRUMP is planning on CUTTING bureaucracy, and wasteful spending... HOWEVER, unlike others who were all talk and no action... you HAVE to believe trump will be a an of his word...

I expect the Dept. of Education, Dept. of Commerce and EPA to just be ENDED... maybe a few others... also, "AUTOMATIC INCREASES" in spending.. EVEN when there is NO INFLATION? WHY haven't we been talking about that? BUT, it's been going on.

In industry, when a company is tightening their belt... the rule of thumb is that the first 20% is ALL FAT... and will not affect ANYTHING if done properly... TRUMP will dive into THAT as well.

HOWEVER, unlike your TYPICAL POLITICIAN... who will prioritize spending from that which has the MOST impact on the CITIZENS to the least... and START cutting the things that have the MOST impact on people FIRST... (because they WANT the people to be caused PAIN... so they will complain and end the cuts... RATHER than from the bottom, and REALIZE a 20% MINIMUM savings in budget costs...

Trump KNOWS that trick, and will NOT allow the life long Bureaucrats to play the game... THE Bureaucrats will likely be the ones CUT !!

To roll out an infrastructure plan as was done in 2009 would be incredibly costly and as ineffective. If Trump does that, let's hope he does it more wisely than obama.

Obama: GOP blocked 500 bills

By JONATHAN TOPAZ

05/08/14 06:10 AM EDT

President Barack Obama is railing against congressional Republicans, telling a Hollywood crowd that the midterm elections are crucial because the GOP is willing “to say no to everything.”

The president, speaking at a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee event Wednesday evening hosted at Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn’s home, said Republicans have been obstructionist since even before he took office.

“Their willingness to say no to everything — the fact that since 2007, they have filibustered about 500 pieces of legislation that would help the middle class just gives you a sense of how opposed they are to any progress — has actually led to an increase in cynicism and discouragement among the people who were counting on us to fight for them,” Obama said of Republicans.

“The conclusion is, well, nothing works,” the president continued. “And the problem is, is that for the folks worth fighting for — for the person who’s cleaning up that house or hotel, for the guy who used to work on construction but now has been laid off — they need us. Not because they want a handout, but because they know that government can serve an important function in unleashing the power of our private sector.”

( DRIVING THE DAY: Immigration reform's grim forecast)

Obama opened by saying that he is “in trouble at home,” because in 2012 he had told his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, that he had run his last campaign.

“A couple months ago, I had to let her in on a secret, and that is, honey, I got one more campaign I got to run,” he said, referring to the 2014 midterm elections. “I need to make sure we continue to have a Democratic Senate, and I need a Democratic House of Representatives in Washington.”

The president spoke to a group of roughly 90 people for about 15 minutes. Those in attendance included actor James Brolin, singer Barbra Streisand and DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg.

How many bills have been filibustered by Senate Republicans since President Obama took office? Bloomberg’s Jonathan Bernstein, in “All Filibusters, All the Time,” writes, “The correct count of how many bills have been filibustered during Obama’s presidency is: approximately all of them.”

That’s what it means to have a 60-vote Senate, which is what Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Republicans declared as soon as Obama was elected. Almost every measure and, until Majority Leader Harry Reid and the Democrats invoked the nuclear option last fall, almost every nomination, had to have 60 or more votes to pass. That’s a filibuster.

Here are just a few of the hundreds of bills Senate Republicans have filibustered since President Obama took office — just a few:

The following headlines are from last week’s “Full Employment Is More Than Possible. It Is Essential.

  • Infrastructure bills

What would it have meant for the economy and jobs to launch a post-stimulus effort to maintain and modernize our infrastructure? How about reversing the tax structure that pays companies to move jobs out of the country? How about equal pay for women? How about a minimum wage increase? How about hundreds of thousands of teachers and first responders going back to work? How about being able to organize into unions to fight for wages, benefits and safer working conditions? How about relief from crushing student loan debt?

All of those things blocked, and people wonder what the economy is just slogging along…

Wait, now liberals care about the national debt? LOL! They say this won't work yet they were having a hardon for Obama's stimulus package which was almost the same amount. BWAHAHAHAAH! It least now in your hypocrisy you realize Obama's BS spending package would never have worked and didn't work and neither will Trumps.

Do you understand what "Real World" economics is all about? So simple you won't believe it.

What humanity gives ancestrally as human rights by philosophy of law, societal evolution can take way psychology with symbolism over substance factually as actually it is all hypothetical values defined by those owning the power of suggestion used in lines of communicating social protocols for chain of command behavior from global central authority to each household.

Name any other way absolute power is absolutely corrupted in everything everyone does in their own party or community thought process teaching each ancestor added to the atmosphere biologically anything other than how is possible. Self evident why everyone doesn't want to get along trying to master Eternity eternally believing it is anything but now all the time by every ancestor of just the human populaiton as simultaneously spaced when alive.

Trump won the election because the silent majority made him a mascot for America, not the leader of it.

New dawn of understanding the self evident has arrived, now watch everyone denying self containment go nuts trying to tell deniers it isn't what happened.

Their careers of orchestrating chaos and organizing institutional authority where caricature role playing is standard measurements(rule of law) used for citizen's rights in social justification physically absolutes don't matter.
