WASHINGTON ― Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) will both have seats at the Senate Democratic leadership table this upcoming session, after party elections put them in new positions of power.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), who was elected on Wednesday to be the new Senate minority leader, said he decided to expand the leadership because doing so “shows we can unite the disparate factions of our party and our country. The team is ideologically and geographically diverse.”

“We need a sharper, bolder economic message about returning the economic system, which so many feel is rigged against them, to one that works for the people,” Schumer said.

Sanders, for his part, hadn’t given much thought in previous years to running for a leadership position. When a reporter asked him Tuesday night if he wanted to chair the DPCC ― the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, which Schumer is vacating to become leader.

Sanders will also serve as the top Democrat on the Budget Committee.

“That is a heavy responsibility,” he told reporters. “It helps shape the priorities of the United States government, and I am going to do everything that I can to make sure that the budget that leaves the United States Congress is a budget that represents the needs of working families and a shrinking middle class, and not millionaires and billionaires.”

The lineup of moderates and liberals suggests Schumer is not inclined to go all in on progressive policies championed in Sanders’ presidential run, but is more likely to pick and choose issues to appeal to base Democratic voters and the Americans who abandoned the party for Donald Trump. He also said he is willing to work with the president-elect in select areas.

“As Democrats determine our way forward, I can tell the American people this: We are ready to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Republicans ― working with soon-to-be President Trump on issues where we agree ― but we will go toe-to-toe against the president-elect whenever our values or the progress we’ve made is under assault,” Schumer said.

A socialist and the fake Indian

One must remember that these proggies have deluded themselves in the the false belief that "socialism would work if only WE were in charge".

And they ALSO believe that "we know what is wrong with Socialism now, so we won't make those same mistakes".

What they DON'T seem to get is that "the only problem with Socialism is that sooner or later, you run out of other peoples money" and when THAT happens, you have a dictatorship in which you WILL comply or else. AND that the ONLY way you can make it work is to create internment (extermination) camps and get rid of your enemies and opponents to your FAILURE that is happening.

Their entire premise is bases on abject LIES and they want more if it.

NEVER going to happen.

Once you put the "YOU have to pay for all this Socialism" on the table, they will run like little pussywhipped cowards.

I can hear them now..."WHAT?? WE HAVE TO PAY FOR IT?? I THOUGHT GOVERNMENT WAS GOING TO PAY FOR IT!!" and they are quickly informed, that "no, you are going to pay for it so Government can pay for it". And that is followed by "this isn't what we thought it was going to be". Hence, it's NEVER going to happen.

But keep up that "wishing in one hand and shitting in your other". I bet one fills up REAL fast.

Just wait until their INCOMES are taxed around the 50-60% rate and no money is left to buy their Iphones.

Trust me, that will change their minds REAL fast when mommy and daddy have no money to buy them for them either.

WASHINGTON A leading Republican lawmaker is calling for investigations into alleged Russian cyberhacks during the US election despite President-elect Donald Trumps repeated calls for warmer ties with Moscow.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican and one of the chambers most experienced foreign policy hands, said the attempt by a foreign country to interfere with the US voting process needs better understanding and a vigorous response.

Assuming for a moment that we do believe that the Russian government was controlling outside organizations that hacked into our election, they should be punished, Graham told reporters Tuesday. Referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Graham added that, Putin should be punished.

Graham, who wants the hearings to examine all Russias misadventures throughout the world, has the support of colleagues on both sides of the aisle. As other Republicans issued warnings about Russian activities, the hearings could become a source of tension between the GOP and the new President.

You could see, going forward, a Congress thats really at loggerheads with the White House on policy toward Russia, said Angela Stent, director of the Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies at Georgetown University.

Graham, who ran against Trump in the Republican primaries, admitted that clearly Donald and me have issues. But he added that hell do everything I can to help him because he will be commander in chief in dangerous times.

Russia, Graham said, is a bad actor.

To that end, Graham said hearings into Russias activities should also address Moscows annexation of Crimea and interference in Ukraine, its cyberattacks against US allies, and examine whether Russia is guilty of war crimes due to its intervention and bombing campaign in Syria

Hillary got MORE votes that Trump, and ideology was not the major issue of this election, so calling this a "total repudiation of Socialism" is bogus.

More votes cause of California...

And she still lost

Loser dems will keep the popular vote schtick going for the full 8 years of Trump. Right to the last day dems here were blaming Bush. When oblameo failures are discussed dem socialists absolve oblameo and blame Bush and a GOP congress ELECTED to stop oblameo. The political swing of the last 8 years was completely missed by the dopes who now comment on appointments not even made yet. Carping dems will not be pleased until their party becomes non-relevent. Like now.
