National Reconciliation Day

After watching the document the 13th a group of fellow students and I really began to look at race in America. We focused on past injustices and present injustices and came to the realization that the cracks in our national identity aren't a new phenomenon, but national scars from a history that discriminates against women, poor people, colored people, and any one deemed "other". We have decided to create a petition with the white house to create a national reconciliation day. This day will focus on the past mistakes our country has made in order to make sure our future includes all of us. We modeled our proposal after Australia's Sorry day and South Africa's National day of Reconciliation. The petition can be reached here:
