CNN: Obamacare premiums to skyrocket...Told ya!

That's right liberals..

You fell for this big lie and now the predictions are coming true.....

Obamacare premiums are set to skyrocket an average of 22% for the benchmark silver plan in 2017, according to a government report released Monday.

The price hike is the latest blow to Obamacare. Insurers are raising prices and downsizing their presence on the exchanges as they try to stem losses from sicker-than-anticipated customers. Enrollment for 2017 will be closely watched since insurers want to see younger and healthier consumers enroll.

The benchmark silver plan -- upon which federal subsidies are based -- will cost an average of $296 a month next year. That figure is based on prices for a 27-year-old enrollee in the 39 states that use the federal healthcare.gov exchange, plus the four states and Washington D.C. that have their own exchanges.

The blame for the failures of obamacare and the increase in premiums

needs to go on the insurance companies and their lobbyists

who kept out of obamacare any competition across state lines.

They also kept out of the ACA a public option which would have also

reduced premiums.

Also, there is no incentive for young people to sign on when they are

still in their 20s and 30s and think they are immortal and indestructible

and will never need health insurance.

Also, blame can go on the failure of all politicians in not speaking out

against unhealthy fattening foods and unhealthy lifestyles of no exercise and

going along with drug users instead of incarcerating them or killing them

since they kill and rob others to get money for illicit drugs.

One thing is for certain. It would be idiotic to go back to the old system

of enriching ass holes owning insurance companies with huge deductibles

and with insurance companies fraudulently denying claims and medical

bills bankrupting families who need health care.

Wow - you must have been OUTRAGED at the increases in healthcare premiums BEFORE the ACA.

US_AverageInsurancePremium_1999-2010_Yea

I must be missing your point. Why would conservatives be outraged at those premium increases. The prediction of conservatives was that the idiotic legislation would cause cost to skyrocket.

Before it was passed, the average premium increase for single coverage was 7.9% and for family coverage it was 8.2%. A hell of a lot better for consumers than 22%

Anyone with a lick of common sense would have known young people would not purchase coverage with the assurance they couldn't be denied due to pre-existing conditions. Most young people think they are bullet-proof and won't get sick or hurt. Why waste money when, if they do get sick or hurt, they can simply buy a policy then and worry about the portion of the bill the run up before the coverage kicks in? Insurance companied having to pay out more because they are forced to cover people who were already sick but not getting the premiums from healthy young people.

And while liberals here are demonizing insurance companies and their fat-cat owners, remember that most stock in those companies is held by funds offered through 401(k) plans and retirement funds...so the "fat-cats" being demonized is really the middle class worker.

No. We didn't, and if you think we're going back to what we had, you're delusional.

There are only two choices, and only two choices.

The insurance companies can work with the law to bring down costs, or we will go to a single payer system and put a lot of insurance companies out of business.

Pick one sparky.

Better get a filibuster proof majority in the Senate and take the House if you want, and/or think we are going to, a single payer system.

And how are you going to force insurance companies to operate in markets where they are losing money? Plan on nationalizing them?

We were told that illegals weren't eligible......And in California law makers are pushing it...

We were told the average family would save $2500 ....Really? Never happened

We were told it wouldn't add a dime to the debt.....Already has..

And we were told by Nancy Pelosi that it had to be passed before they read it......

This entire disaster was predicted by republican's that never voted for it...

And it came true...

In California law makers are trying to get illegals on board too

The Obamacare disaster is much more far reaching than just costs. This is only the beginning.

Insurance companies wanted to sell across state lines. Why wouldn't they? This has always been a GOP idea. If there was a public option and it had to abide by the same rules and regulations (ACA) as all the private insurance companies, then it wouldn't to shit to lower prices. The insurance companies fear was that the public option would use tactics like blackmail to force providers to accept lower reimbursement rates than the insurance companies pay. It would be easy (because Medicare already does it) to tell a hospital they have to accept .20 on the dollar billed (this is what Medicare pays on average) or they will cut the hospitals reimbursement rates for daily room and board or other provider services.

Give me some reasons why a public option would be cheaper than a private insurance company if the public option has to follow the same rules as ACA.
