Right wing says 'Hillary did it, too' on taxes—she didn't

Recommended Posts

Donald Trump's tax problem is a problem for his right-wing apologists, too. On the one hand, they have to say he's a "genius" for working the system and getting out of paying taxes. On the other hand, they have to normalize it. As Media Matters reports, the obvious way to do that is to say "she did it too."

Last night, Reddit commenter "TheGoldenDon" claimed on the pro-Trump Reddit page "The_Donald" that "Hillary Clinton recorded a $700k loss to avoid paying taxes in 2015." The post included an image from the Clintons' return which shows that the Clintons had a net long-term capital loss of $699,540 carried over from a prior tax year. The image was picked up by the conservative blog Zero Hedge, which stated that the returns show that Hillary Clinton "Used Same Tax Avoidance 'Scheme' As Trump."

The claim rocketed through the conservative media and has been repeatedly cited on this morning's Fox & Friends, where co-host Ainsley Earhardt claimed that the "$700,000 loss" shows that "Hillary did the same thing" as Trump.

You can watch the crack Fox & Friends pretending like they know shit about taxes below. From the cesspool of the Reddit Trump pages to Fox, in record time. And with that origin point and trajectory, you have to know that it's not true. Media Matters has the entire return, not just the snippet that the Trumpists are sharing, that the capital loss of $700,000 from the previous year allowed them just a $3,000 deduction, a deduction they've taken since that loss in 2008. But guess what? They paid $3,236,975 in federal income tax in 2015. And their tax records since 2001 show that they've paid an effective federal tax rate of between 25 percent and 38.2 percent every year.

So there's a very big difference, in that Hillary Clinton actually paid her taxes. The $3,000 deduction didn't make much of a dent in that $3.2 million tax bill. You know what the other difference between Hillary and Donald is? Even the dumb shits on the Reddit page could find the Clinton's tax returns. Because they've released them all.

Clinton Campaign Admits Hitlery Rotten Used Same Tax Avoidance "Scheme" As Trump

Well this is a little awkward. With the leaked 1995 Trump tax returns 'scandal' focused on the billionaire's yuuge "net operating loss" and how it might have 'legally' enabled him to pay no taxes for years, we now discover none other than Hitlery Rotten Clinton utilized a $700,000 "loss" to avoid paying some taxes in 2015.

Good points.

The T'Rump lickers always want to claim a false equivalency between Trump's fuck-ups and failures and scams by (usually quite falsely) pointing to other people and yelling: "They're doing it too!!!".....which is how five year olds argue when their parents catch them breaking the rules.....like Pense, they can't find the words to actually defend Trump's vile racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, zenophobia, and general bigotry, let alone his lies, scams and failures.

Fox and Fiends could be the worst show onTV. Elizabeth Hasselhoff was the ultimate airhead. She left there too.

The hate, venom, accusations and falsehoods foisted on the Clinton's is like nothing I've ever seen. AndHillary has endured it all and prospered where lesser women would have wilted. Not many women ( or men) could have put up with that abuse. She's one tough chick.

When one candidate reveals 25 years of her tax returns ( without being asked) andthe other cowering before the nation too petrified of the truth being known, that should be an immediate disqualifier.

But the Dumpster fire is "not like any other candidate." He's so much worse in every single way.
