Governor Vetoes Bullet Train Oversight Bill,

Sponsor Says He's Furious

Governor Jerry Brown's veto of a plan for lawmakers to have more oversight of High-Speed Rail has the man leading the charge furious.

Assemblyman Jim Patterson (R-Fresno) says the bill was actually written by the non-partisan Legislative Analyst to provide more scrutiny of an agency Patterson says needs it when it's surprised about some of the sources of the estimated $64 billion it'll cost to complete the bullet train.

"How in the world can a professional, accountable authority have an attitude about a business plan," Patterson asks, "and about spending public money, and using it to construct a project when they absolutely have admitted they have no idea where the money's going to come from, and they hope as they spend more, they will stumble across more by surprise? That is just nonsensical."

Patterson doesn't think Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon will bring a veto override vote to the floor despite its unanimous passage in both houses, but he promises to keep introducing the bill with the hope some governor will eventually sign it.

That's Socialist tyrants for you.

Never responsible ... just responsible.

Tyranny never deals with bullet trains. Get serious.

A half baked, nitwitted idea keeps going and going?

It's not that Boston tunnel.

It's pure utopian bullshit right up through an earthquake zone.

Logic should have buried this long ago. but the tyranny of the utopian left marches on.

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation Monday to raise the statewide minimum wage to $15-per-hour, the highest in the U.S. while admitting a $15 minimum wage made no economic sense.

Brown signed a statewide increase to $10-per-hour less than two-and-a-half years ago. and opposed a new increase to $15 until pressure from unions caused him to relent. (Union contributions to moderate Democrats also helped.)
