dahur
POLITICS Dallas Morning News Endorses Democrat For President For First Time In Over 75 Years “Unlike Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton has experience in actual governance, a record of service and a willingness to delve into real policy.” 09/07/2016 09:59 am ET | Updated 6 hours ago 6.6k Igor Bobic Associate Politics Editor, The Huffington Post The Dallas Morning News on Tuesday backed Hillary Clinton ― the first Democrat the paper has endorsed for president in over 75 years. “We’ve been critical of Clinton’s handling of certain issues in the past,” the newspaper said. “But unlike Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton has experience in actual governance, a record of service and a willingness to delve into real policy.” Though they recommended her for president, the Morning News urged Clinton to take “additional steps to divorce allegations of influence peddling from the Clinton Foundation,” which has faced increased scrutiny amid allegations of ethical impropriety during Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state, and called on the candidate to hold more press conferences. “Those are real shortcomings. But they pale in comparison to the litany of evils some opponents accuse her of,” the editorial said. “Treason? Murder? Her being cleared of crimes by investigation after investigation has no effect on these political hyenas; they refuse to see anything but conspiracies and cover-ups.” X Earlier Tuesday, the paper issued a scathing editorial calling Clinton’s Republican opponent, Donald Trump, unfit for the presidency and undeserving of Texans’ votes. The businessman, the paper’s editorial board said, is “no Republican and certainly no conservative.” “We have no interest in a Republican nominee for whom all principles are negotiable, nor in a Republican Party that is willing to trade away principle for pursuit of electoral victory,” the paper added. Hahahahaha! Stupid moron Dallas Morning News Takes Subscription Hit for Clinton Pick he Dallas Morning Newshas taken a hit in subscriptions after its early September endorsement of Hillary Clinton. Angry readers and nonsubscribers have taken to social media and have even called the editor of the publication “a f**king traitorous POS. She’s responsible for thousands of unnecessary deaths and the invasion of 3rd world jihadists. Ahole,” an angry Twitter usertweeted. The Dallas paper published an editorial on September 7, endorsing the Democrat candidate. The consequences of that decision has become evident in the weeks following. “Certainly we’ve paid a price for our presidential recommendation, but then, we write our editorials based on principle, and sometimes principle comes at a cost,” The Dallas Morning News Editor Mike Wilson told Poynter. The DMN editor added, “I’ve had a lot of conversations with readers lately, and I respect their views and their right to disagree with us. The most important thing to us is that they vote, even if it’s not for our favorite candidate, because democracy doesn’t work if people don’t vote.” After the endorsement, angry protestors convened outside the DMN building in Dallas. Wilson approached them and he was asked “How could we support known criminal/liar/killer @Hillary Clinton?” One of the protestors called the Dallas editor an “enemy of the state.” Another protestor accused the newspaper of taking “big money” for the endorsement. The DMN editor told the managing editor of Poynter, it was his hope that the subscribers who cancelled their subscriptions would come back to the publication. He said, “I believeThe Dallas Morning News offers a lot of value to readers–even when they disagree with a particular editorial view.” Given the anger shown in terms of comments after the endorsement (3,500 reported by Mullin), it remains an open question if readers will forgive the publication. The DMN editor declined to give the actual number of cancelled subscriptions.
