TheOldBarn
http://www.dineshdsouza.com/ Take Dinesh, Please!!! For quite sometime these quasi professorial types that bite against reality have been funded by the right to offer a less-than truth or fact-based view of just about everything from healthcare to fossil fuel use to social justice to immigration policy and politics in general. They are funded by big donors who rail against what they call the leftest views of most professors in Universities across the U.S. Or, the so-called liberal news media. They are used as some quasi sort of comeuppance to correct all that has gone so very wrong, or some say, to create a friction or a gridlock so that government action or progress on anything big or even easy, becomes almost impossible. These noodle head types rail against things using big words like, "illegals", or "lazy", or the old one, "socialist", to put a scare in real red blooded Americans who are already more or less, uninformed about a whole lot. Call it a way of not getting even, but staying ahead of the game, or if you like, use the Trump vernacular and call it, Making America Great Again. The other day I heard Kareem Abdul-Jabbar say, uninformed people do a disservice to our political system simply by voting. At first glance one might think that was not a very democratic statement, but he does have a very good point. If you don't know, or don't understand, where do you go to learn, Bill O'Reilly, where he tells you how things actually do operate in his no spin zone? So there's a huge fundamental problem - A: we live in a consumer based society where everything is a big advertisement, even just the basic facts. B: we have a two party duopoly, that in truth sort of likes things the way they are. C: I left C open for discussion. There is likely a whole alphabet of topics or ideas to put down. Throw something out there, and give it a letter. Z is just as good or as important as A when outlining a discussion such as this. Peace!
bludog
Right wing subterfuge has always been around in America. But it really got a shot in the arm with emergence of Rush Limbaugh in the 1980s. Shortly after, Oliver North, illegal gun runner, made a career of dishonesty on his radio show. And a small army of Limbaugh clones came out of the woodwork. Then came Fakes News, with it's slew of deceivers, including an overload of blond sex bombs. Followed by Breitbart, Dinesh, Bare Naked Islam, et al .... Conspiracy theories galore, much of it manufactured by right wing think tanks, which far outnumber those on the left. The vast Right Wing Noise Machine keeps growing, and there's no end in sight. Drowning out worthwhile National conversation.

TheOldBarn
just words, all just words, from a Zappa cross-fire episode in the 1980's that I posted. How do we stay above the fray is really important I think. Some say retaliation is required from the left. This I disagree with because hate language is hate language and nobody looks good shouting it, not even Elizabeth Warren, at least in my opinion. Heard a good discussion about Comedy Roasting the other day on Day Six with Brent Bambury regarding hate speech and roasting people who typically are not the roasting type. How do you take this? While I might say I don't like what she does in any way, nor what a lot of them that do what she does do on air on a daily basis, I still wonder if there maybe is a more better way. But maybe not...
