BRASÍLIA — The Senate on Wednesday impeached Dilma Rousseff, Brazil’s first female president, and removed her from office for the rest of her term, the capstone of a power struggle that has consumed the nation for months and toppled one of the hemisphere’s most powerful political parties.

The Senate voted 61 to 20 to convict Ms. Rousseff on charges of manipulating the federal budget in an effort to conceal the nation’s mounting economic problems.

Don't pick on the girl.

BRASILIA — Brazil’s Senate ousted Dilma Rousseff as president Wednesday, voting overwhelmingly to impeach the leftist leader in the culmination of a protracted process that has divided the country.

The vote to impeach Rousseff was 61 to 20. Two-thirds of senators — 54 out of 81 — were needed for impeachment to pass.

Senators broke into cheering and applause after the electronic voting was announced and sang the national anthem, concluding a process that was given the go-ahead in December...

She was not accused of thievery. The Brazilian right used the economic slump, due to the lower oil prices and less demand from China, to use her as a scapegoat. The Brazilian right did nothing to raise the poor out of poverty since the 1800's. Lula da Silva managed to do this, and Dilma was his successor.

Do you believe that there is only one way to write a budget?

I am pretty sure that your knowledge of Brazilian politics is exceedingly limited.

Limited to the degree that you would do better not to comment on it at all.

Rush Limbaugh and other radio rantster dummies do this all the time.

Then within a very short time, a dummed down version pops up in chatrooms.

Can you name even three presidents of Brazil other than Lula or Dilma without googling?

I really doubt it.
