Should The U.S. Be The Police Of The World?

Recommended Posts

Not our job!

The United States should resolve its own problems and let other countries/nations do the same. Violent interference only gives way to more violence. We saw that happen after the war in Iraq after which global terrorism shot up higher than EVER before. I don't feel we should force others to live the way we do, if they enjoy the way their country works.

Absolutely not. We have enough trouble policing our own domestic shitheads. WE probably should abandon the habit of trying to force democracy down the throats of various Muslims who prefer to live in a completely incompatible manner with democracy.

However - we have some obligations to various treaties that are important to world stability and peace (ex; NATO, SEATO, etc.) and those cannot be ignored. And, yes, I'm also including the mutual aid agreement with Israel .

The U.S. is an Empire.

It's a fallacy to believe that the conflicts we have engaged in were fought for some sort of altruism.

We engaged in those wars and conflicts to support our financial interests as a nation, and only for that reason.

All empires follow the same pattern until they reach the limit of their ability to expand and exploit, then they fall.

The U.S. will be no different.

End all foreign aid. Withrdraw from the UN. Close all our international military bases. Bring our troops home and put them on our borders with orders to shoot to kill anyone who tries to violate them. Deport all the illegals and shut down any business that employs them. Imprison the business owners. Spend all our money on our people only.

Good luck with this line after we deposed all those foriegn leaders under false-pretense of spreading democracy and capitalism.

I think some conservatives are trying to back out of the federal government now that the USA is losing, after years of supporting war after war and killing all those people. Following the "football theory" of mankind, people will start to split from the team after it begins to lose globally and economically.

If the USA was still like "the good old days", most of these people who now say to end global policing would be supporting global policing. Only a small segment of Americans fought against global policing before the USA began degrading so heavily, and they were persecuted for doing so.

Now you have jerks calling themselves "Paleo-conservative" or libertarian and trying to weasel out of it all, making their WACO compounds, etc.

Did anyone ever really listen to the anti-imperialist league in the 1800s? If we had, the current problems would not exist.

Money talks. Defense contractors (halliburton) spend millions lobbying their congressional minions for more invasion, and war.

It's all about the money.....

Cut off lobbyists, and you cut off the head of the snake. But will the cons allow that..?

We need legislation that shows America's intent to negotiate, a guide, to embargo, a guide, long before war becomes a question.

Secondly, there is a way to curb in unruly leaders in the name of humanity, called an assassination squad. It would be run by the UN, so no one finger points to any country, through a process of rules to seek compliance from leaders, or get whacked.

Cons? Halliburton continues to do wonderfully well as we enter into the last year of HOPE AND CHANGE!

We need to do what China has done: build up our own country, we are not appreciated anyway.
