I agree with you, because addiction occurs because gambling is the new norm.
Thus, the individual gets stuck in a limbo: they have to keep gambling to stay out of withdrawal and depression, but because of tolerance they don't experience any dopamine-generated euphoria anymore. Excessive gambling is now necessary to stay in their 'new normal

yeah, you're totally right!
Gambling disorder involves repeated problematic gambling behavior that causes significant problems or distress. It is also called gambling addiction or compulsive gambling. ... They may lie to family members and others to cover up their behavior and may turn to others for help with financial problems.

Personally I have a friend that denies the fact that he is gamble addictive. Frankly speaking I play casino games too, but anytime I can stop it, because I don't have addiction, however my families don't think so, they know that I play casino games and that's why I automatically turn an addictive one... Seriously, I had some situations when I asked them not to distract my attention because I was concentrated playing blackjack at gambling site Singapore and then I had a chance to win $ 300 and you know, I won it :) I was so happy, but my families thought that it's the last sage of gambling addiction...
