Government Workers Cost 45% More Than Private Sector Workers

Recommended Posts

The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) announced on March 12th that the total cost of employing a state or local government worker is 45% more than an equivalent worker in the private sector.

For the month of December 2013, employers in private industry spent an average of $29.63 per employee hour worked, but the equivalent cost for a government worker averaged $42.89 per hour. Not only do government employees average 33% higher pay than those in the private sector, their pension and retirement benefit costs are now an incredible 254% higher also.

Given that compensation formulas for federal, state, and local government are comparable, it should come as no surprise that this year spending by the U.S. government will exceed revenue by an all-time high of $744.2 billion, and our gross national debt is a stunning $18.5 trillion.

I call BS

WE all know that Cheneys private sector army contractors Halliburton and KBR cost the American 10X what govt workers could have done the job for. Private corps use the same workers but build in a 200-500% profit margin.

Every time the R's mention it, we get screwed more.

why did oblamer extend their contract ?

obviously oblamer thinks you are wrong...

you must be a racist if you disagree with the black one...

fact is... haliburton does it because gov cant do it.

you cant compare costs until you can prove how much gov can do it for.

your diversion has nothing to do with the op

stay on topic

I'd like to see Uncle Sham (no contractors, just govvies) create, design, and manufacture an Apple iPad. What a disaster that would be.

It would look like this:

Operate like this:

Take this many silly servants to create:

And be delivered in 2047.

LMAO Moron,

I personally know of a Govt agency that switched to private contractors by eliminating 18 electrical

workers jobs, The private contractor re-hired all 18 men at union wage and now charging the govt over

twice what the budget was before the switch.

Gotta build in the profit margin for non essential middle men.

So much for Repuke logic, eh?

But please beat your dead horse some more, Fool

did you skip over the "oblamer extended hali's contract" on accident ?

was there some reason you ran away from oblamers haliburton contracts ?

did it make you look stupid ?

No I didn't miss it,

There isn't much difference policy wise between BO and bush, IMO.

Bo has continued many of the the bush policies.

But that doesn't change anything about private vs Govt workers.

Does everyone have to explain basic thought processes to you?

Bo is a lot smarter though.
