Nazis: Still Socialists

Recommended Posts

No serious reply to the article. Tiz ok. It's a tough nut to crack, especially since it is the truth. It was only the last 30 years that liberals started to try and rewrite history to say nazis were not socialist. And it was a particularly pathetic attempt at that.

I also don't think any of you read the article. Just reacted to the title and blew all over your keyboard.

this is the same Jonah Goldberg who produced the brainfart "Liberal Fascism". he has a thing for nazis

from rationalwiki:

Liberal Fascism almost didn't come out; it was delayed six times. Originally slated for a 2005 release, it didn't come out until December 2007.

Why the delays? There are any number of factors that can push back a release date. Even something as simple as a name change can cause a delay, and the name of the book changed at least three times.[22] It is also possible that Goldberg is the laziest man on Earth and didn't even get around to writing it until 2007. The fact that he repeatedly used NRO to beg for assistance from his readers seems to support this.[23]

In December 2007, a Daily Kos blogger organized a Google bomb directing searches for Liberal Fascism to a blog post[24] in which Goldberg's arguments were depicted as a series of LOLcat images. Predictably, Goldberg was displeased.[25] In January 2008, the link abruptly disappeared from search results, apparently a result of the fascist liberal Google manually editing the search results.[26] Surprisingly, Goldberg seemed genuinely contrite over the whole affair.[27]

[edit] Content

The easiest way to debunk the "argument" is to quote the man himself. The following quotes are all from Liberal Fascism:

  • "In this sense, both the Wilson and the FDR administrations were descendants - albeit distant ones - of the first fascist movement: the French Revolution."
  • "Nazi attitudes toward homosexuality are a source of confusion...Scott Lively and Kevin Abrams write in The Pink Swastika that 'the National Socialist revolution and the Nazi Party were animated and dominated[28] by militaristic homosexuals, pederasts, pornographers, and sadomasochists.'"[29]
  • "It is fine to say that many of Nazism's concerns were held by people who were not Nazis. But the fact that these conventionally leftist views were held by Nazis suggests that Nazism isn't as alien to mainstream progressive thought as some would have us believe." (On animal rights being a fascist position!)
  • "But it [liberalism] is definitely totalitarian - or 'holistic,' if you prefer - in that liberalism today sees no realm of human life that is beyond political significance..."[30]
  • '“Every ten years or so, the United States needs to pick up some small crappy little country and throw it against the wall, just to show the world we mean business.”'[31]

Yeah, that has a lot to do with the article and the fact that Hitler was a socialist. LOL!

If you guys aren't socialists, why are you worried Hitler was one? :D

according to Goldberg everything that is not conservatism comes from Hitler. liberalism is fascism and socialism is fascism. that's how he makes his living, 'cause cons. buy it up

national socialism (nazis) isn't the same as socialism. just like scientific theory isn't the same as theory (more or less guesswork)

every time things get a bit more complex, the con. gets confused

Already been over this a million times in other forums and other books through the ages. The fact still remains that nazis were socialists.

the average german was socialistic. you can't build a mass movement without the masses. hence the nazis were for a living wage etc.

once the nazis were in power they locked socialists up just as fast as jews.

Anyone who quotes Jonah Goldberg is an idiot! I read the book, its history completely turned over on its rear end.

Hitler was so socialist, that's why he battled commies and socialists in the streets for years!

Hitler was a bleeding heart liberal! Yahahaha! :P

At least we finally agree the nazis were socialists. Thank you

The Weimar Republic was socialist....with no money! Broke! Like most Germans.

Whatever socialist programs there were was established by Wilhelm Kaiser in the late 1800's, and Hitler just went along with them so he could appease the masses, including conscripting the military, like fascist dictators always do. he couldn't let the people starve to death.

This is a huge abuse of the word "socialist" twisting it around for political points.

The fact is, extreme right wing Americans liked Hitlers fascism, like Henry Ford, the Dupont family, Charles Lindberg, Coors, on and on and contributed a great deal of $$ to the cause and his war machine.

Anyone who quotes me is an idiot. Wait! What?

No he wasn't a liberal. He was a socialist. We already established this. Keep up.

So he just went along with being a socialist but he wasn't a real socialist. He was a fake socialist doing socialist thing in a grand scheme to NOT be a socialist. LMAO! OK! Nice argument.
