National Security Advisor Susan Rice says she has no regrets about appearing on five Sunday talk shows following the terrorist attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi and blaming it on an anti-Islamic YouTube video.

 

Rice was a guest on “Meet The Press” this Sunday. When asked by host David Gregory if she regretted her claim, she replied, “David, no.” Here’s a short excerpt from the video:

 

GREGORY: “When you were last here, Ambassador Rice, it was an eventful morning on a story of Benghazi and the horrible attack on our compound there. We haven’t seen you in a while. As you look back at your involvement in all of that, do you have any regrets?”

 

RICE: “David, no. Because what I said to you that morning and what I did every day since was to share the best information that we had at the time. … And that information turned out in some respects not to be 100 percent correct.”

 

Not 100% correct,” Ms. Rice? How about, 100% false?

 

On the Sunday after the attack, Rice appeared on all five major talk shows and repeated the Obama administration’s talking point that the attack was a “spontaneous” response to the obscure video.

 

A now-declassified document shows that top civilian and military leaders were told minutes after the attack began that it was a “terrorist attack,” and not the result of a video. Nor was it a “spontaneous attack,” as the administration also claimed at the time.

 

For Susan Rice to say she has no regrets about misleading the American people on a terrorist attack that resulted in the brutal killing of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other brave Americans, particularly as she was still misleading them today, is the height of arrogance.

The U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, delivered the twelfth annual Daniel Pearl Memorial Lecture at UCLA on Sunday.

 

She took the occasion to offer her thoughts on the 2002 death of Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was kidnapped by an Islamist militant group in Karachi, Pakistan, and beheaded by 9/11 conspirator Khalid Sheikh Mohammed.

 

 

 

Before his murder, Pearl’s captors forced him to detail on videotape the nature of his Jewish ancestry: “My father’s Jewish, my mother’s Jewish, I’m Jewish. My family follows Judaism,” he said. The video also shows Pearl’s severed head and his body, which was hacked to pieces.

 

His captors demanded the release of all Muslim prisoners from Guantanamo Bay, warning that if the United States refused their demands, they would continue to kidnap and murder American Jews.

 

Power said that Pearl’s death is a “reminder that individual accountability and reconciliation are required to break cycles of violence.”

 

UPDATE: Ambassador Power issued the following correction to her tweet, noting that she intended to say that the work of the Daniel Pearl Foundation, which was founded by his family to address the “root causes” of his death, is “a reminder that individual accountability are required to break cycles of violence.”

That information was shared at a classified level to which Rice, a member of the Cabinet, had access.
