Great Declarations In The History Of Science...

Well.. I do think it is getting warmer.. we are heading for a warming period.. I think anti GW folks even accept that

Not so sure, but we're gonna find out.

So maybe it is not stretch to say climate change is a fact.. but it is not right to not recognize it has happened before

Climate Change is a natural process. To say humans are causing climate change is what the debate is about. It was before my time, but I guess there was a cooling scare in the 1970s.

Thanks for using the ridiculousness of religion as other examples of stupidity

Fitting since people were calling Obama a messiah.

You're welcome. When any organized governing social structure diminishes the importantance of the personal, individual value of faith, and replaces it with a vapid figurehead, a religion has gone too far...

"...the debate is settled. The world is flat." - The Pope

"...the debate is settled. The earth is the center of the Universe." - Roman Inquisition

"...the debate is settled. Climate change is a fact." Barack Øbama

How incredibly, exceedingly stupid of you, PoliticalPopTart.

First, by comparing primitive prescientific beliefs with modern scientifically established facts and pretending they are similar. What some religious leader, like the Pope, might have said, based on his interpretation of the Bible and not on a study of objective reality, has nothing to do with the conclusions that scientists reach after enormous amounts of research and study of objective reality. The fact that you can't tell the difference only demonstrates the depths of your stupidity and ignorance and highlights what an anti-science cultist you really are.

And second, by being so ignorant, you get your basic facts wrong.

The paradigm of a spherical Earth was developed in Greek astronomy, beginning with Pythagoras (6th century BC). Aristotle accepted the spherical shape of the Earth on empirical grounds around 330 BC, and knowledge of the spherical Earth gradually began to spread beyond the Hellenistic world from then on.[2][3][4][5] The modern misconception that educated Europeans at the time of Columbus believed in a flat Earth, and that his voyages refuted that belief, has been referred to as the Myth of the Flat Earth.[6]

After the Greek philosophers Pythagoras, in the 6th century BC, and Parmenides, in the 5th, recognized that the Earth is spherical,[59] the spherical view spread rapidly in the Greek world. Around 330 BC, Aristotle maintained on the basis of physical theory and observational evidence that the Earth was spherical.[60] The Earth's circumference was first determined around 240 BC by Eratosthenes.[61] By the second century CE. Ptolemy had derived his maps from a curved globe and developed the system of latitude, longitude, and climes. His Almagest was written in Greek and only translated into Latin in the 11th century from Arabic translations. In the 2nd century BC, Crates of Mallus devised a terrestrial sphere that divided the Earth into four continents, separated by great rivers or oceans, with people presumed living in each of the four regions.[62] By the 1st century AD, Pliny the Elder was in a position to claim that everyone agrees on the spherical shape of Earth,[65] though disputes continued regarding the nature of the antipodes, and how it is possible to keep the ocean in a curved shape.

Save us your religious drama.... you worship a dead religion. Go find a new liber lost cause.

Your little cult of AGW reality denial is sliding down the tubes into the septic tank of history but you are too much of brainwashed retard to understand that fact, mildewed. Go troll your cultic fantasies to other retards who might believe your deranged declarations. Sane people know the difference between "religion" and science.

You're an idiot. My point is that at many times in our history, many scientifically accepted consensus beliefs were eventually proven wrong. Can you say ether? - idiot - For fucking Øbama to take it upon himself to declare the discussion about global warming, or cooling, or "climate change" (whichever monicker you nuts are using this week) to be "settled" is not only egotistical in a maniacal tyrannical kind of way - but it is also fucking stupid!

LOLOLOLOLOL......you're a hoot.....you cite a couple of fraudulent non-quotes from unspecified Popes and other religious entities and then claim that your point was how supposedly "many scientifically accepted consensus beliefs were eventually proven wrong"....which just highlights how little you understand about science, history, and the difference between religious beliefs based on some interpretation of some holy text or other and the scientific understanding of AGW that is based on the laws of physics and over a century of study and intensive research. Most scientific advances are mostly incremental and just add more detail to our understanding of Nature so it is actually very rare for modern scientific conclusions, based on lots of corroborating evidence and data, to be overturned. Some theories do get overturned by the pressure of new evidence or a new theory that better explains the evidence but again, that is very rare and the number of times it happens is minuscule compared to the number of times the Scientific Theories that constitute the modern scientific understanding of the universe are supported and verified by all of the new evidence that comes along. Comparing the modern scientific understanding of how things work, that has given us all of the technical wonders of our modern world, to pre-scientific religious dogmas, as a way of denigrating the scientific conclusions on global warming and climate change, is just plain retarded.

Yeah - I figured you wouldn't mention ether...and the geocentric view of the universe was scientific opinion accepted by the church. It was not superstitious religion. You're an idiot if you think I'm going to accept Barack idiot Øbama's declaration that your mythology of global warming is "settled."
