Caca Radio, as I like to call it, doesn't have a large enough Liberal audience to make it big outside their local, niche markets.

 

 

 

Air America's demise, other than hosts that didn't understand talk radio....

I wish gays were 12% of the population, I would be getting laid more often than I am now. actually I should be careful what I wish for. A rise in the homosexual population, is certain to bring a rise in the liberal population, and I simply can not stomach that.

No one wants to listen because both sides of the political isle listen to conservative radio. If people want a liberal circle jerk all they have to do is turn on MSNBC. For all the whining about Fox being conservative, its not nearly as right leaning as talk radio. Fox is actually as advertised. Fair and balanced, giving air time to all sides of an issue. Right wingers listen to talk radio to be entertained and to hear events through a conservative lens. Lefties listen to right wing talk radio to get their rage on, it fuels their need to be angry. There is no market for a liberal circle jerk on the radio. Its tired, its boring, its just not fun.

I worked in talk radio for yrs, the rightwingers own all the stations. That pretty much explains it. Ive seen 3 major liberal talk show hosts, one of which I was the producer, with sky high ratings and a market in the tens of millions, get fired at their peak by the RW station owners. Sometimes, a hostile takeover occurs, and the liberal host is fired without cause and the station left to rot and die.

The only "Liberal" show I like is actually not really a political show. It's Todd n Tyler on Z-92 in Omaha, NE. They have been sindicated a wee bit even. But what keeps me listening is their blatant stupidity and low-brow humor which they are known for. They are a morning gig afterall.

 

The rest of the liberals are MIND NUMBINGLY BORING. That is why nobody listens. Rush Limbaugh is a Rebublican water carrier, but at least he is interesting to listen to and seems likeable as well, which is required of the host to be successful.

The reason that CON radio is more succesful is simple: money. If the financial backing were equalized, political talk radio would be radicalized. Think about this: the most famous liberal talk show host become a US Senator while the most famous CON talk show host became a pill-popping drug addict and still retains his audience of mindless dittoheads.
