huntfishlib
I always thought Reagn was indifferent to the freedom movement. Kind of a clueless idiot. But what I didn't know is he actively backed apartheid. Way to go Ronny! Your nutjobs at NHB will absolutely love this one. Enjoy!!! President Reagan continued to back the apartheid regime even as domestic and international pressure mounted, even as South African President Pieter W. Botha gave his infamous "Rubicon speech" saying his government would never accept one man, one vote. In 1986, Reagan vetoed the Comprehensive Anti-Apartheid Act, which would have imposed economic sanctions on South Africa unless it met five conditions. Releasing Mandela was one of them. Fallopian
It isn't as open and shut as you would have us believe. Nice try though. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comprehensive_Anti-Apartheid_Act
huntfishlib
Yes, the first time in the 20th century a president had his veto overriden on a foreign policy issue. Sounds like a real "gray" issue there! lol He was clearly on the side of limiting sanctions and keeping whitey in power. History is clearly on my side... lewstherin
reagan was pretty much as much of a fake as obama....but one of his primary rhetorical standards was to be in a fight against communism. so anyone against communism would be against mandela and what he stood for. campdog7
Ronald Reagan isn't the god of conservative values. Idolatry applied to any politician is revolting.

Trans-National interests led that decision, just like Trans National Interests lead Obama in conflicts present and past, look at Syria, Libya, Bahrain, Af-Pak-Iraq and for what freedom? Slowmotion426
Who cares what Reagan supported...currently barry supports the knockout game of violent black racism against whites.

I liked Reagan but he was still a politician. He did a lot that I liked and a lot I didn't like.
