Officials at York Preparatory Academy in Rock Hill abruptly dropped their ban on Christmas music after Alliance Defending Freedom set them straight on their constitutional rights. ADF attorney Jeremy Tedesco says most schools have an overwhelming fear of being taken to court. "At public schools, it's entirely constitutional to include religious Christmas carols in school programs," he tells OneNewsNow. "We informed York Preparatory Academy about that as soon as we heard about the situation with their band being told they couldn't even play religious Christmas carols without the words." - See more at: http://www.onenewsnow.com/legal-courts/2013/12/02/religious-carols-reinstated-for-charter-school-concert#.Up0vdcRwqSp The Alliance Defending Freedom is offering free legal counsel to smaller school districts that are being threatened with the cost of litigation, and they're killing these atheist group in court. bestrfc
What's wrong with songs? I'm liberal and say that if you don't want to listen to the songs, then just don't listen to them. Now if they're being forced down your throat, then that's another thing, like if you weren't religious and were forced to sing them. Then I'd disagree. LoreD
I don't really have a problem with an interfaith program of religious songs: The Muslim Holy Day of Ashura is Nov. 24 The Wiccan celebration of Yule (Winter Solstice) is December 21 Buddhist Holy Day of Bodhi is December 8 Hanukkah is December 9 A Sikh Holy Day is Jan. 5 The Hindu Holy Day of Makar Sakranti is January 14. The Rastafarian Christmas is January 7.
