Washington - US President Barack Obama's popularity has slumped to an all-time low, with a majority of Americans for the first time believing him to be dishonest and untrustworthy, a new survey showed on Tuesday.

The respected Quinnipiac University Poll found that Obama's approval rating had nosedived to the level of unpopularity faced by Republican predecessor George W Bush at the same stage of his presidency.

Overall, the poll said 54% disapproved of the job Obama was doing against 39% who approved.

The findings mark a significant downturn from a 1 October survey which put Obama's disapproval rating at 49% to 45% approval.

It caps a turbulent few weeks for Obama, whose administration has come under heavy fire for the chaotic roll-out of his signature health care legislation, the Affordable Care Act.

'Floor is cracking'

American voters had also reacted strongly against Obama's mis-stated pledge to allow voters to keep the health care plans they already had, the survey revealed.

"Like all new presidents, President Barack Obama had a honeymoon with American voters, with approval ratings in the high 50s," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

"As the marriage wore on, he kept his job approval scores in the respectable, though not overwhelming 40s. Today for the first time it appears that 40% floor is cracking."

Malloy said the plunging approval amongst women voters was also a concern for Obama. Only 41% of women approved of the job he was doing against 51% who disapproved.

The survey indicated that most Americans remain deeply pessimistic about the effect the Affordable Care Act, or "Obamacare" as it has become known, will have on their health care choices.

Only 19% of voters expect the quality of care to improve in the next year as a result of the legislation, 43% expect it to get worse and 33% say it will make no difference.

The poll was conducted amongst 2 545 registered voters nationwide between 6-11 November, with a margin of error of plus-minus 1.9% points.

Congress and Republicans continue to sink

http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/john-boehner/

Raleigh, N.C. – When PPP last polled the American electorate in early October, at the beginning of the shutdown, Republicans already trailed Democrats in the generic congressional ballot by five points, and their 29% approval rating was ten points lower than Congressional Democrats’.

Now John Boehner and company are at 23%, with 72% disapproving of their job performance. That ten-point gulf between voters’ opinion of them and Democrats is now 17 points, as Congressional Democrats have remained in place, at 40-56, almost identical to their 39-56 standing three weeks ago.

Congress has sunk to a new low of 6%, with 87% disapproving. But though Americans despise the body as a whole, it remains much harder to get them to blame the individual representative they elected. 41% approve and 45% disapprove of the job their own congressperson is doing. Democrats (48-37) like their representative much better than Republicans (41-41) or independents (31-59) do.

Congress' approval numbers are meaningless.

This has been explained to you, over and over and over, but you seem incapable of understanding.

Let's try ONE more time:

1) You don't approve or like Congress. Either do I.

2) You don't like MY Congressman and want him to lose his job.

3) I don't like YOUR Congressman, and want him to lose his job.

4) My Congressman is going to be reelected.

5) Your Congressman is going to be reelected.

Our opinion of Congress collectively is irrelevant because no one votes for Congress.

Your opinion of MY congressman is irrelevant, as is my opinion of yours.

The President on the other hand, has become a lame duck because the public has seen the failure of Obamacare and are questioning why the President looked them in the eye and lied to them, over and over.

EASY! The overall congressional approval number is OBVIOUSLY a reflection of Americans overall opinion of politics in general. if a certain congressman has a personal high approval in his district the overall approval for congress as a whole is irrelevant to that specific congressman IS IT NOT Lefty?

Second..............Obama has the same exact approval rating that Bush had after 71 months.

PROVING CHIT HEADS WRONG IS ALL TO EASY ISN'T IT?

Only 19% of voters expect the quality of care to improve in the next year as a result of the legislation, 43% expect it to get worse and 33% say it will make no difference.

So 52% of people (33% + 19%) believe that the quality of health care will either be the same or improved and only 43% "expect it to get worse."

LOL, nice attempt spinning this failure.

The reverse is also true, isn't it? 76% of people believe that the quality of healthcare will either be the same or worse, and only 19% expect it to get better.

Ouch.
